Injustice: Gods Among Us is quite good. If you have any inclination towards a fighting game, it is well worth it. Very solid fighting system, deep, and well done overall. If it were a Marvel license, it'd be geek-heaven for me. But DC's ok.

Finished The Witcher 2 yesterday. One of the best games I've ever played. That being said, Chapter 3 was disappointingly short compared to the first two, and difficulty balancing was pretty weak throughout. What started as a very challenging game became a complete cakewalk about halfway through. The final two bosses in particular were disappointing in terms of difficulty. The story also wrapped up pretty weakly - for a game with a ton of political intrigue and mystery unravelling throughout, a simple dialogue at the end with thirty or so options simply narrated the loose ends to me. I almost expected him to say "and I would have gotten away with it too, of it weren't for you meddling kids."

Despite that, it was a phenomenal game that I would recommend highly to anyone.

Finished this a couple weeks ago, completely agree about chapter three. It felt more like an epilogue than a third act with there being little involvement in the political intrigue.

Went with Iorveth as well for the second act. Not sure if I'll end up paying it again to see way happens with Roche. I think I prefer the idea of following one story for Geralt, at least until I finish the series.

I'm really curious to see where the story goes in the next installment. It seems like Geralt's story may not be falling in line with what was being set up at the end of the last game. Suppose he could join it later, though it seemed like a rather urgent situation.

I backed that one. Don't think I have alpha access but I'll have to check.

EDIT: Nope. Just did enough to get the game on release, not alpha or beta.

The one reason I'm pausing on Grim Dawn is that the unique bosses which appeared in the higher difficulty settings in TQ felt more like a mouse test than a fight. Some of them hit for so much damage off of one hit that you felt like you had to dodge just about everything. So far in PoE it hasn't been that way. There's things that suck, ie reflect mobs, but you can still deal with them.

Great to see that Papers, Please was greenlit on Steam. Played the beta for a few hours the other night and it is strangely enjoyable for a game where you are checking passports at a border crossing.

Fuck you. This game is addictingly fun. Simple in concept, but if you "roleplay" it it's awesomely addictive...imagining yourself as that border guard.

Playing Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon and the main character had this exchange.

“What’s with the needle doc?”
“Listen, this will make you more like Sloan. Powerful but without the side-effects.”
“No Doc. No way. I swore an oath to a special lady.”
“Your... wife?”
“No, Lady Liberty. She taught me that winners... don't use drugs.”

So yep, it's been pretty much what I was hoping for.

Fun little game, but all my relatives keep getting sick and dying. It's awfully hard to process enough passports correctly to be able to afford the necessities.

Does anyone here have a link and/or hints to getting the Hi-Res textures installed to GTA 4 when using Steam? The ones I've seen haven't worked for me.

Shadow of the Eternals, what's being described as the "spiritual successor" to Eternal Darkness kicked off their crowdfunding campaign. Loved Eternal Darkness and it completely flew under the radar because it was on the Gamecube.

Don't know much about Precursor games except that Denis Dyack, who used to be the Silicon Knights president is there.

I'm interested to see how they handle PS Plus on the new system. I held off a few months on buying PS Plus just because I wasn't sure what you'd really get out of it. Have had it for a year now and absolutely love it. Lots of great perks for what you're paying.

The biggest one is the "free" games on PSN each month. New games available every month, if you add them to your account while they're being offered you have access to them as long as you are subscribing to PS+. If your ain't lapses you won't have access to them anymore but will get any previous titles back if you renew. Above is a link to a list of the games you would have had access to if you had been a subscriber for the last 12 months at a cost of $50.

Yes. PS3 games made for a Cell processor aren't going to be able to run locally on the PS4s x86 architecture. Sony will probably offer a streaming service for PS3 games on the PS4 but haven't announced just what their plans for it are or if you will have access to any games you bought on PS3 automatically or at a reduced price.

Right. I guess my point was that I'm looking forward to seeing if they offer something similar to the current PS+ on the new system. From what I've seen, it's been a very successful model for them and I haven't found many users that don't love it once they get it.

I'd be shocked if PS+ doesn't cause Microsoft drop the gold requirement for online services. If Sony continues with similar deals and the next XBox still needs a monthly fee for watching Netflix I can't see it doing very well.

A few games I've finished recently:

Go Home Dinosaurs! - A decent enough tower defense game. Seemed like it really wanted to be the next Plants vs. Zombies to the point where I'm kind of surprised it wasn't named Gophers vs. Dinosaurs. Also would have been more charming if it hadn't been trying so hard to be charming as the voices could get anything. Works as a waster though or something to play with half your attention (I played through most of it during the NCAA tournament waiting for boring games to end).

Waking Mars - Very enjoyable adventure game about exploring underground caves on Mars and investigating the dormant plant life the with puzzles being how to activate the different species. Nothing is itto difficult and I thought the atmosphere of the caves was great.

Catherine - Uhh, I'm still not sure what to think of this one. A very strange game and not quite the story I was expecting. The puzzle parts are unique and challenging, though the boss stages... let's just say bosses included baby with a chainsaw, a butt monster and what may have been an aborted fetus.

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon - Loved this one. Great shooter mechanics and a cheesy 80's action movie story and world. Hope this sells well and there are more of this kind of projects in the future.

Also doing an engineer play through of Torchlight 2
and finally really getting into Dark Souls which is an amazing game. The combat is the best of any action RPG I've played by far and manages to be difficult without every feeling unfair. Beating a difficult bids or enemy gives the same sort of feeling as SpaceChem with progression from, "There's no way I can beat this," to, "Hmm, maybe if I try this..." and finally, "I AM A GOLDEN GOD!"
