We're more likely to get good clues inside than anywhere else, is my feeling. So we should totally not skimp there.

I would suggest we get 5 on security and 2 on lockpicking, to make sure we can get in, and make sure we don't get killed. And then make sure one of the grounds or interior is completed. If enough people show up we can do both, but best to leave one of those undone than security.

Only a couple more hours to go. I'll switch if need be to help complete a segment, though I don't know if that will matter since Abe basically said we either succeed or don't succeed.

Also it will be important to keep good track of who does what, as sabotaging our missions will likely be the goal of the cultists, as well as possibly the railroad people?

Well, I would guess that depending on what we come short of, the results will differ though. I'd rather come up short by not finding something we could have found, than by being eaten.

I'd rather take the risk and have the chance to actually figure out WTF is going on. We've still got basically zero information to date, and I'd rather we get as much as we can before people start dropping / being converted.

I can get behind that. I would prefer the interior to the grounds if possible, but I'd also rather complete 1 of 2 segments than leave both partially done since we don't know that we'll get any credit for that.

We know more than we did yesterday Coffee. We have this house to check out and we'll at least complete some of it today and should easily finish it by next quest action. We also stopped the town from taking flood damage and as far as we know, we didn't have any Cultist activity last night (at least no one died). So it seems like we are in pretty decent shape for now, not sure we could have done much better to this point. I'm sure bigger challenges are coming our way of course, but I agree with Autumn we should play it carefully for now and not take any risks with security.

You arrive at the estate and move out into assigned positions. The estate is tucked away onto a hill that overlooks the river, the town, and the trains. There is just a cart worn path leading here from the village, but the width is being overcome by weeds, as a horse seems to be the new form of conveyance here.

The estate opens up in front of you, with an east wing, and a large central portion. Immediately you set up, and the locks are picked quickly. You have to pull people off security detail however in order to fully investigate not only the grounds but the interior.

Inside, one of the antiquarians there, ntndeacon, stops at a library. The books range from recent ones on politics and science to older ones on philosophy and the occult. ntndeacon moves his fingers across the titles, and then one stands out at him. What is that? ntndeacon carefully pulls the aged tome from the shelf and peers at the unusual leather cover. A title in German stares back at him. He moves away from the library and finds a carrying case for the tome, made of wood. He secures the book to take to investigate later.

As he finishes, suddenly a roar comes from the trees and a bear moves into view. With no one on security detail, no one could keep the nasty ancient black bear from arriving. It ousts the people on the outside and the rest of you leave as well.

There had to have been a lot more in the estate, but because you were unable to full all of the tasks, all you got was this book.

End of Day Two Quest - Failure

Day Two Lynch Deadline is 10 pm EST

Later, ntndeacon pulls the other antiquarians into a room over dinner and pulls out his find. The four of you pause, and JAG recalls that is is a precious tome, with few known to exist, but many more remember it.

This is the Unaussprechlichen Kulten

You carefully open it up but it is written in some form of code. You will not be able to read it until you can decipher the code.

As you consider it, Coffee Warlord speaks up. He points out the unusual-ness of the tome's leather. One of you asks if its human leather and he laughs. Of course not, don't be silly. No, it's not human. He shows the imprints of scales that were mostly lost to history. It was a large reptile. Perhaps a komodo dragon or a crocodile or alligator was the leather.

So, there's a Unaussprechlichen Kulten wikipedia page.
Unaussprechlichen Kulten - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Unaussprechlichen Kulten (also known as Nameless Cults or the Black Book) is a fictional work of arcane literature in the Cthulhu Mythos. The book first appeared in Robert E. Howard's short stories "The Children of the Night" (1931) and "The Black Stone" (1931) as Nameless Cults. Like the Necronomicon, it was later mentioned in several stories by H. P. Lovecraft."

"The following is a fictional account of the origin of Unaussprechliche Kulte and its significance in the mythos.
Unaussprechliche Kulte is believed to have been written by Friedrich Wilhelm von Junzt. The first edition of the German text appeared in 1839 in Düsseldorf. The English edition was issued by Bridewall in London in 1845, but contained numerous misprints and was badly translated. A heavily expurgated edition was later issued in New York by Golden Goblin Press in 1909. Original editions in German have a heavy leather cover and iron hasps. Few copies of the earliest edition still exist because most were burnt by their owners when word of von Junzt's gruesome demise became common knowledge. An edition is known to be kept in a locked vault at the Miskatonic University library.
The text contains information on cults that worship pre-human deities such as Ghatanothoa and includes hieroglyphs relating to the latter. There is also information on more recent cults including that of Bran, The Dark Man. It is from this work that the tale of the doomed heretic T'yog is most commonly sourced. The principal obscurity of the book is von Juntz's use of the word keys—"a phrase used many times by him, in various relations"—in connection with certain items and locations, such as the Black Stone and the Temple of the Toad (possibly associated with Tsathoggua) in Honduras."
