I think saying Tui is a recruiter only is potentially selling him short. Our "inside receivers" played well this season, and Fauria is going to be a first day draft choice (okay, old school first day, how many stupid days will the first three rounds take now?). Darius Bell, who as a former QB was quite abit like Tui himself (albeit much less talented there), took major strides at the position when healthy. Plus, no way did Mora only lean on Mazzone and his kid to guide Hundley; I have no doubt Tui's experience was handy with his development as well.

All that said, it's clear that Tui's main strength right now is recruiting, his knowledge of the northwest area, and his relative youth and ability to connect better with kids in college. Sark definitely made the move for recruiting purposes, primarily--but that doesn't mean Sark didn't think Tui would provide little else when he brought him on.

I would be interested in seeing Greg Knapp coming to coach at UCLA

Lots of smoke around Pat Narduzzi leaving Michigan State to become USC's DC.

Really excited about this hire if it comes to fruition. From everything I've seen (of Michigan State's defenses) and read about him, he could be the type of leader to galvanize the defense and get USC back on track.

Worthy was a 3* recruit that went pro after his junior year so he can develop talent. I always kind of question Top 10 defenses when college level is involved but they were virtually always rock solid up front. He would be crazy to not go, IMO.

Yeah, I think he would be crazy not to take the job as there are several likely scenarios that are all good for him:

1) He turns around the defense, helps get USC back into the NC picture and uses it as a stepping stone to a HC job.

2) USC's offense holds them back but he improves the defense and becomes Kiffin's successor.

3) Even if the defense doesn't turn around, Kiffin probably becomes the scape goat for inhibiting him and he can get another good job based on his stellar record with Michigan State's defenses.

And MSU is in Titanic post iceberg mode right now. Their three best players worth a damn are going pro. There's little there to build on and ND, Michigan, and OSU are currently in ESPN's Top 6 for recruiting with MSU sitting at #34. There's next to no advantage to staying at MSU.

Ya, he has no loss by going to USC. He won't have a prayer at the HC job at USC because they aren't going to hire someone without experience. Everyone knows that Kif is done next year and the defense was going to be good one way or another (besides the secondary at least), and the money is too good to pass up regardless

This is off the radar for most but KC Keeler was fired by Delaware. Seems pretty surprising given his relative success.

Got to and lost 2 national championship games in that period, but .500 record the other years. Not sure what to make of him.

It looks like interim defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will not get the permanent DC job at Ga Tech, and will instead move to a DB or other position group role at FSU.

He's a very solid recruiter and has ties to the north Florida/pan handle area, so a pretty good pick up for FSU, I think.

Didn't he have a decent record of developing (transfer) QBs? Maybe he'll get a OC job somewhere? I guess that's the rub of getting dropped at the top FCS level, is you don't necessarily get to go upwards

Ted Roof returns to Georgia Tech as the new DC. No guarantees but at least some reason to think this might turn out okay. He's improved atrocious defenses before, he'll have a chance to do it again.

Ted Roof hired as Tech coordinator | Georgia Tech

And to bring this full circle...he's being replaced at Delaware by the Rutgers OC I wanted to see gone, Dave Brock.

Unfortunately I have zero confidence in Kyle Flood bringing in a guy to run the offense who will be any more aggressive.

Little bit of an interesting shape on the BYU / Utah front.

BYU fired DuPaix and Cahoon. Demoted OC Doman to what will more than likely be a non football role and Re-Hired Robert Anae.

They hired Atuaia as the RB coach and Tajugue as OL Coach.

They then offered WR Coach Roderick from Utah (Former Cougar like almost all of their staff) and he accepted and signed the deal. Not less than 20 hours he pulled the same shenanigans he did with UW when he was supposed to go there and did an about face and went back to Utah.

So right now, BYU is with a WR's coach and a QB Coach.

Don't forget there was interest from Anderson in taking him to Wisconsin too. This guy has all but sabotaged his D1 career on any staff not led by Whitt with his flip-flopping.

He better hope Kyle never gets canned from Utah.

Surprised that Pendergast ended up being the guy at USC. He wasn't our 1st (or 2nd choice) but recruits seem excited about him and he should bring an attacking aggressive defense, so I'm looking forward to seeing that.

I wasn't following this real closely, who was 1st and 2nd choice?

I think that is Nick telling stories to make himself look more valuable to Oregon.

There are some Internet reports that USC secondary coach Marvin Sanders was fired.

This couldn’t possibly be true because Lane Kiffin said Sanders is the “best secondary coach in the nation” and Kiffin never lies.

Rutgers' DC Robb Smith left to take the LB spot with Schiano and the Bucs. He becomes the 417th guy that he poached from us. That leaves the only guy he didn't take as the OL coach in his time, and current HC, Kyle Flood. What a ringing endorsement of a guy who I believe has no shot of long term success. Smith will be tough to replace, as he did a great job continuing the aggressive defense that Schiano instituted while he was here.

In other news, it's looking like former Kansas State HC Ron Prince may be our new OC. He's been offered the job. Not too thrilled.
