with the many, shall I say "controversies" that you are associated with, don't you understand that people might have a slightly hard time trusting you? When my 9yo son lies to me once and I catch him, it's hard to take everything he says for truth afterward, at least for a little while. Takes a little time building back trust. You can say you are not doing spoilers anymore as many times as you want, what tells me you didn't read that tidbit somewhere and are not passing it along as your own thoughts? As for the show, I know I might run into spoilers coming in here (but I don't really mind for now), but the size of this thread and the building excitement in here has got me interested in it so I started hunting for episodes yesterday. I have not watched one episode so far but I will try to get up to date this weekend. FM

The new online comic on NBC's website:
http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/novel_005.shtml reveals more about DL and what his powers are (if you haven't seen the preview for next week's episode and don't want to be spoiled, don't read it yet). It casts an interesting light on his motivations. |

I'm really intrigued by the mimic abilities. Let's say he mimics his brother's flight abilities, takes off, and then finds that his lack of proximity has led him to become nothing more than a free-falling weakling. Or is his power limited by his ability to concentrate? Or is it a timed event? Ok, this show does not come on ofen enough for me.

we watched the first episode yesterday. Really the kind of series where it pays to have been watching from the start as it must be very hard to jump in at any moment, not like any of the CSI series where cases are pretty much cut and try from week to week...
We liked it btw... FM

But that makes me believe that his powers diminish since it was MUCH less detail.. to me that's the message I get from that.. that they either slowly run out or they are weaker the farther he is from the individual.

Ditto. I think they remain strong as long as he is near the individual but they fade with time and distance from the person whose power he is "borrowing." I wonder if he temporarily weakens the power of the person at all when he uses their power. It appears his brother still flew even when Peter was using the power, but it is possible Nathan's flying was diminished some when Peter was using his power and that this effect might be more pronounced as Peter's borrowing power becomes more powerful?

Interesting theory.. On a side note, I'm a bit confused by the artist's talents.. the fact that Peter could use it when he was not high... does that mean Isaac can do the same and just doesn't know how? Or is Peter's ability actually higher when borrowing?

Up until you brought that up, I didn't realize that Peter couldn't fly when he was in close proximity of Nathan when he attempted to fly. I would guess that Peter would charge like a battery instead of instantaneously happen. |

Just got around to watching the latest episode. Some random thoughts,
Since it looks like DL has powers and Niki has powers then their kid should have powers. So far all that's been indicated is advanced intellect for his age. Maybe a Forge or a Brainiac(sans robotness). If Peter met Niki would he have a bad Peter? Could Lindenmuller(sp?, the guy Niki owed money to) be like a Kingpin/Lex Luthor type of bad guy? Could Lindenmuller be bankrolling what horned rimmed glasses guy is doing? If Sylar is Claire's real father, would he kill his daughter like the painting describes(assuming that is Sylar in the painting and that he is Claire's real father)? I don't know if a father would do such a thing and thus I don't think Sylar is Claire's real dad. Is it okay to discuss the online comics? Or would that be spoilerish?

we watched episode 2 last night, very interesting indeed. I'm trying to keep myself from reading spoilers, although I had seen the tidbits about Peter flying with his brother, still it was a great one.
I'm also reading this thread from the start in between watching episodes and I find it very interesting to read all the thoughts that were jotted as you guys watched the episode come in "real time". FM

Sortof-kindof. They don't cover territory that the show does, but 'sets things up'. For instance, reading last week's comic before last week's show "gave away" that the quarterback survived the crash, and tells us how. An earlier one goes into what happens with Hiro between the time he leaves NYC and shows up in his friend's office. |

I think this last issue was too spoilerish, though. ------- Food for thought: If Peter mimics Hiro's time-warp ability and goes into the past--before the superpowers were developed (I believe the eclipse triggered the development)--he'd get stuck, right? He could then begin a lucrative career of picking sports games. Hmm.

I don't think I have seen this in reading through this thread, but if it is already here, my apologies. Interesting tidbit:
I was just reading wikipedia about Heroes and saw that the actor that plays the congressional candidate (Adrian Pasdar) is married to the lead singer of the Dixie Chicks (Natlie Maines). |

They just interviewed Hiro on a morning radio show here in Detroit. Predictably, we didn't hear about anything upcoming in the show, but the actor did says that one of his hobbies was Japanese sword fighting. He looked like a badass in that scene on the train so hopefully the writers let him use his sword fighting skills later on.

He has sword fighting skills? Napoleon envies him. And how much would a guy need for skill in the show if all he has to do is stop time and slice you up? Still, the future of this show does look good if future Hiro is any indication.
