Right. Didn't mention BL because she is already eligible.

Question...they are still two year olds, right? Would it not be possible to get them in shap now and then catch up some of the other horses in the first couple of months as three year olds, prior to the Triple Crown?

Lokugh, if I understand what you mean, part of the problem is that some of them have lower discipline. That makes them lose their form faster and makes it take longer to regain that form, so they can't run all the time like BL and Purple can.

You have to have $300,000 in race gains to reach Level I International, the level to qualify to run Triple Crown races. Hold is the closest of the 4 and he is not quite even halfway there. I could run them every other week and get their form up the other week, but then they would have to go 6 months without even a weeks worth of real training. I don't know if that is worth it when we'll still have 3 top horses qualifying to run. Maybe Favorite can make it...we'll see.

If that doesn't answer the question, let me know and I'll try to do better...and thanks for paying attention to this dynasty, btw.

09-25-04: Race 1- Feline, Purple Tearse

All entries are Level I National horses with ratings in the 70s- some very high 70s. Both Almighty Farms horses are on the low end of the form curve at 75, while their competitiors are all in the 80s and 90s. Hope for a good outcome. Purple also has a poor starting gate, which is why we are not counting on her, bet wise.

Political breaks cleanly to the rail in first with Feline third and Purple fourth. Political builds a 1 1/2 length lead on Anna and Feline with Purple falling to sixth. Down the back straight it's still Political with Anna moving to second, Feline fourth and Purple sixth. Impressionniste makes a strong move on the outside into second. Around the final curve, Impressionniste takes the lead by 3/4 over Anna. At the 500m mark it's Impressionniste, Anna and Political, 3 wide, in front. Impressionniste still ahead at 400m but Ipia Chichon comes up to challenge. 300m left now and Harris gives Feline a jolt. She responds, into contention, with Ipia, Impressionniste faltering. 200m to go, Feline takes over first, Ipia second and Impressionniste third with Purple charging on the outside. 100m to the wire and Feline takes control, Impressionniste falters badly and Purple takes over third. At the wire, it's Feline the winner over Ipia.

---> See below for big news.

---> Ophelie and Kinshasa Du Chemin have left our boarding stable. There are now only 4 boarders using up a box at Almighty Farms.

---> Despite the 'big news' our fame score dropped to 75. We move down into a tie for 37th place in the rankings.

We at Almighty Farms congratulate all our staff and supporters for their part in this great accomplishment.

It is now time for the quarterly (or so) update on how the Almighty Farms animals are aquitting themselves, both on the track and in the training areas.

Ursulo was the first and, luckily so far, only Almighty Farms horse to get sick. He was out of action for many weeks and was so out of form when he finally recovered, it took a few more weeks to get in racing shape. Consequently, his training was horrible these past months and he is by far the lowest rated horse we have in terms of level. As stated previously, his discipline rating will probably keep him from reaching what we believed he would become, but we still have hopes for him.

Ursulo still needs acceleration training now. His adaptability and technique are also low for one of our horses, though we have seen many high level horses that have seemingly never trained these 2 areas. Of course, we still, and forever, don't know exactly what adaptability does.

Favorite seems to be a middle-of-the-road horse, as far as Almighty Farms goes. All her ratings are good but none are really good. She doesn't have that great of a race record, either, for whatever reason, compared to some of her stablemates. We'll see how she does in the next quarter.
Favorite needs to get all 3 major categories (speed, acceleration, endurance) much higher if she will ever compete with the big dogs. We'll focus on those when possible as we see if she can get to International level soon enough for the Triple Crown.

As you can see, Hold gets almost nothing in terms of improving a rating for a week of training. With his discipline score, this will never change. As we have stated, we are contemplating his sale (shhhhh. He's sensitive. Don't mention this to him.) The discipline score also retards his form retention and regaining. With his slow training gains and a couple of semi-low stats, he will not be a top notch horse.

Hold, well, we'll see.

Imperatrice seems to be in position to become a top racer but has, for some reason, not won her races as much as we think she should. Therein lies the problem. Winning races is where the money is for the purposes of a fast rise in the ranks. BL rose so fast because she won all her races at the beginning. Winning gives more than double the prize money that 2nd gives. Therefore, 2nd place finishes just do not, especially at lower levels of competition, give enough gains to advance. All this aside, we still have high hopes for this horse.

Imperatrice has quite good ratings for all three major areas. We will just continue to give her a well rounded program and see what happens.

What can you say? Beautiful Ladonia is over 90 in all three major areas. As you can see, we decided to focus on technique and adaptability with her because of the extreme time between races. She has only one or two races available to her until February, at which time the International season apparently begins. That's 4 more months of almost constant training. She will be a MONSTER by then.

Beautiful Ladonia will now begin to concentrate on the big 3- speed, acceleration and endurance. We hope all will be above 95 by Triple Crown time.

Feline has now ascended to Level I International also. She, too, has almost 4 months of constant training until the big-money races kick in. Her discipline rating is not on a par with BL or Purple, so she will never catch up to being #1, but she still should be an awesome horse.

Feline will now focus on endurance, with some speed thrown in, too. We will look at her in a month or so and see how she is progressing.

Purple Tearse has been, and continues to be, involved in a crash course of racing trying to get her to the IInternational level for Triple Crown race purposes. Therefore, she has not had the number of weeks of training we would have liked. Nonetheless, you can see that when she does train, with her 95+ discipline rating, she makes tremendous advances. When she finally gets to have some extended training, she will be tremendous, and a worthy adversary for BL.

Purple Tearse is constantly racing still, but when we get a chance, we'll try to get her to 90 on all 3 major areas. With a couple months training, she could be the horse that ruins BL in the run for the Triple Crown.

An interesting race for Favorite as we see if she has a shot at advancing to International by Triple Crown time or not. There are 12 Level I National horses entered, Favorite at Level II, then one Listed horse, Dauphin Des Vieux, with the best ratings of all. This is a handicap race and Favorite has a 1 handicap and Dauphin has a 0. All others are from 3-6 kg. Dauphin also gets a big boost in this game by coming out of gate #1.

The field is out in a mob with Mister in first. Dauphin Des Vieux passes him at the turn with Favorite in fifth. Down the back straight Dauphin leads by 1 over Uno de la Lune with Favorite dropping to seventh. Around the final turn Mister moves back up with the leaders from the outside and Favorite goes far outside to clear herself of the traffic. Uno and Dauphin lead with 500m to go, Favorite drops to tenth. 400m left and Dauphin pulls ahead by a head with Ines Encagoules making a charge. With 300m until the finish, Ines takes the lead by 1 1/2 over Uno. 200m now and Ines has built a 2 1/2 length lead over Uno, Dauphin and Mister. Ines increases her lead to 3 1/2 at the 100m mark, Favorite rapidly charging on the extreme outside, now sixth. With 50m to go, Ines has left the field behind and she wins the race by 4 lengths.

---> The auction last week was a complete bust. There were only two 1-year olds and both were subpar. There 10 older horses but the good ones were all male for a change and we don't need older males roaming around our bevy of beauties at this time. The breeding age females were all quite ordinary or flawed in several areas. The upshot is, we passed on all of them. Maybe next time.

---> While our fame score remained at 75, we fell a notch to 38th place in the rankings,

That's right, race fans, all 7 Almighty Farms horses are in action today, including Beautiful Ladonia's last race until February. Also, 2 of the races pit Almighty Farms stock against each other.

Pretty lame group of Level III entries; stats are 40s and low 50s. As close to a sure thing as we have seen. Of course, we've said that before.

Ursulo breaks cleanly and immediately is 1 1/2 lengths to the good with Coktail La Justice second. Pay Sister comes up to Ursulo down the back straight, trying to make a race of it. With 500m to go, Ursulo is up by 1/2 on Pay with Admiral At Five in third. Admiral takes the whip and scoots into first with 400m left. At the 300m mark, Green gives Ursulo a shot and, Whoa, Nelly, he takes off. 200m left...Damn!! 100m left, Holy Shit, Batman!!! Ursulo sets some kind of Almighty Farms record, winning by, as close as we can tell, 15 lengths. The horses are so far behind, they look like they're in another race.

3) Admiral At Five

Another lucky break, this time for Favorite, as the Level II field is bare of any known good competition, though Favorite must come out of gate 11.

Favorite gets a terrible start and is in seventh as Infante Pluie leads early. Down the back straight, Infante still leads with Countess Last Chance second and Favorite sixth. With 500m left, Infante leads Black Ora by 1/2 as Favorite moves up to fourth. 300m to go and Infante still leads but Favorite is charging on the outside. Favorite makes a run to the lead with 200m to go with Countess second and Infante faltering badly. 100m from the finish sees Favorite take charge, leading by 3 lengths. Favorite cruises to the win by 4 lengths.

Lodeso Bar moves swiftly to the lead with Odd second and Imperatrice in fourth, but clear of traffic. Down the back straight, Lodeso leads Miss by 1/2 with Imperatrice in third on the outside. Miss takes the lead with 500m to go as Imperatrice also goes by Lodeso into second. Imperatrice falters a bit to fifth at the 400m mark as Miss and Lodeso are whipped to accelerate into the lead. #00m now and Miss is up by 2 on Lodeso, Imperatrice making up ground on the outside. Miss' lead is cut to 1 by Lodeso with 200m left but Imperatrice has accelerated and is coming up fast. 100m to the end, Imperatrice has caught Miss for first and continues to move forward. At the line, it's Imperatrice winning by 2 1/2.

An interesting race with all Level I Nationals except Hold at Level II. Our buddy, Chateau Magesty is in the race and has a bit of a bump in all 3 major areas, training wise (speed, acceleration and endurance). With the size of the field and the Almighty Farms entries coming from post positions 16 and 17, this race will mark the first time, EVER, that we have made a bet on a horse not our own.

Glass Story moves in front with Chateau Magesty in second. Hold is fourteenth and Purple is seventeenth. Down the back straight we have 4-wide in front with Glass, Capri, Infinite and Chateau across the sand. With 500m to go, Glass leads by 1 over Chateau. Glass opens up a 3 length lead on Chateau at the 400m mark but with 300m left, Chateau kicks it in gear and catches Glass with Capri being pulled along for the ride. With 200m left, Glass retakes the lead and, at the 100m mark, Glass is still up by 1/2 on Chateau. Chateau can't make up the deficit in the last 50m and Glass shows the oddsmakers correct and wins by 3/4.

Well, we had little choice if BL was gonna get to run before february, but we may have messed up with this race as it is a handicapper. We should have known from the declaration #s, but didn't notice that BL is at the top end. The upshot of this is that she is burdened with the biggest handicap weight in the race. We'll see if she can overcome it. In the meantime, Feline looks good in this one, along with the only other horse in the race with stats in the 80s, Real Belle. The rest, Nationals and Internationals alike, are no better than 70s.

Out of the gate it's Final Muse to the front, followed by Real Belle. B. Ladonia is fifth and Feline seventh. Down the back straight they go and Ukir Du Brada leads Ghost Trouble by 1/2 length. 400m to the wire, Ukir still leads by 1/2 while Feline has moved to third and BL is in trouble on the rail in seventh. With 300m left, Feline has overtaken Ukir while Majestic moves to third. Feline increases her lead at the 200m mark to 2 1/2 on Real Belle and BL is still stuck on the rail in sixth. Now just 100m more and Feline owns the field, leading by 4 over Real Belle but BL is now clear on the outside and charging. Feline's lead is too great as BL, despite a tremendous push, cannot make up that much ground and Feline wins it by 1.

Note: We have noticed another little hitch in the game. If you look at the 2 bookies and the odds, you will notice that some of the horses make no sense. We finally checked and it seems that if the game sees, however it does so, there is no clear favorite to pick, it will oftentimes pick whichever horse is coming from post position #1, no matter how crappy their stats are.

Just a heads-up if anyone pays very close attention to that stuff and has been wondering where some of the choices came from.

This is a shot-in-the-dark kinda effort in our continued quest to try and get Purple T to International for the Triple Crown races next year. The field is not much, a bunch of Level I Nationals with stats in the 60s and 70s except for our good buddy - no, not Gilligan - Sly Leader. Sly has been training speed and endurance and has stats now in the mid 80s. Don't know how this will go, but Purple T still has very good form, even after running last week.

NOTE: you can see what our previous note was pointing to by looking at the bookie favorite and comparing Hollywood's stat profile to Purple or Sly. Pretty pitiful for the race favorite.

Sly Leader comes out fast and leads Big Big Mac with Purple T. in fifth. Over a jump they go, 5 horses wide all even, including Sly, Big and Purple. Around the final turn, Storm Blue builds a 1 1/2 length lead on Sly and Purple is fifth. Storm clings to a lead, now down to 1/2 length, with 500m left, Nice Beetle is second and Sly third. 400m now and Nice Beetle takes over with Sly second as Storm falters and Purple moves to third. 300m to go with Nice leading Sly and Purple by 1/2. Escude gives Purple the whip and she bursts forward into the lead with 200m more. Purple extends her lead to 2 lengths in the final 100m and wins the race, Nice beating Sly to the wire by a nose for second.

Imperatrice and Hold fight it out in the same race. The handicap race should be a boon to Favorite as she is at the low end of the declarations for the race.

Because, it seems, Ursulo got behind with his illness, this is the first we remember him actually having any competition in a race. The Level IIs have stats in the 60s except for one of our rivals, Indien de France. Indien has ratings in the high 80s for speed and acceleration (He has been training these) with endurance in low 80s.

Ursulo is first to the rail but Indien has the lead by a head. In the back straight there is no change in the top 2, and they are still but a bit apart heading around the final curve. With 500m to go Ursulo has shifted the advantage to himself while Indien begins to tire and Day Magesty moves up. Day takes the lead with 400m left as he is the first to get a shot from his jockey but Ursulo has lost little ground. In fact, at the 300m mark it's Ursulo back in front with Fleur des Kervedec moving to second. Indien is a beaten horse at this point. With 200m to the end, Ursulo and Fleur battle it out and, with 100m more, the two are dead even. 50m and still even. At the wire, it's a PHOTO finish......... it's.....it's Ursulo with the win by a hair.

All entrants are Level I Nationals except our two at Level II. The Nationals are mostly rated in the 70s. The bet for Imperatrice is based on her significant edge in endurance ( almost 7 points better) as this is considered a long race.

Hold grabs the rail but Gypsy Tersy leads with Imperatrice fifth far to the outside. The back straight has Hold now in the lead by 3/4 over Gypsy with Imperatrice in tenth. Hold now by 1 length in the final turn with Gypsy still second. 500m to the line and darkhorse Monsieur d'Ombree moves in front over Hold but Imperatrice has moved up well into fourth. With 400m left, Dupond swats Imperatrice and she responds, taking the lead and bolting forward rapidly. Game moves to second and Hold slips to fourth. Imperatrice leads by 2 at the 300m mark and, with 200m left, Game closes to within 1. Imperatrice extends again at the 100m point and leads by 3 but Hold has decided to mount a charge. Hold tries valiantly but can't catch Imperatrice, who wins by 3 lengths at the wire.

Jockey Race Notes:
In a race with 2 or more Almighty Farms entries, the notes only show for one, so we don't know if Imperatrice finally found a jockey.

All are Level I Nationals except Favorite, as expected. This gives her an advantage with the handicapping, which she has 0. Should not be a big test if Favorite stays off the rail in back.

Rainbow and Vannee Vallee Sombre move to the front with Favorite in fourth. Down the back straight Rainbow leads Come by 1/2 with Favorite in fifth but clear on the outside. Come and Rainbow are side-by-side at the 500m point but Favorite is now fourth and charging. Very France leads at the 400m mark but Favorite is still coming on, now in second. Favorite leads by a neck over Very F. with 300m left. 200m from the finish, Van Gaal swats Favorite a good one and she takes off. By the 100m mark, Favorite is 3 lengths up and she cruises to the win by 5 over late charging Korina Melodies.

---> WOW!!! Look at this:
  • Ursulo has moved to Level II due to his last race performance.
  • Favorite has moved to Level I, National due to her last race performance.
  • Hold has moved to Level I, National due to his last race performance.
  • Imperatrice has moved to Level I, National due to her last race performance.
---> There is, despite the movement in 4 of our horses' rank, no change in fame score and we are still 38th.
