Okay, if that's not an incomplete pass then maybe this thing was rigged after all. I didn't even think that was remotely questionable watching it live, much less on replay.

I think that is a fumble. His arm wasn't coming forward until after the ball was coming out and after the defensive player hit him.

Wow.

An appropriately sloppy finish to a chippy game.

It's like watching the NBA, a few very good players surrounded by bland mediocrity and piss poor officiating at the end.

+1

He was clearly throwing trying to throw the ball.

But I think they just wanted to end it.

What a crap end.

Most of the penalties were penalties of agression. Not a lot of false starts, offsides, etc.

15 years from now most people will forget the penalties and it will be a Top 10 Super Bowl.

Of course they didn't want to review it and give Arizona another chance. Arizona was screwed in this game and Pittsburgh stole the win. Now we'll have to hear "All Big Ben does is win football games single handedly" for the whole offseason.

Hmmm... Dusty finish to the game. At least review it to be absolutely sure. Must have looked like a definite fumble to the officials in the press box.

*sigh* Congrats Steelers and their fans. I'm not sure we had any right to even be in the game late given how we played earlier. Cards secondary to blame more than anything else, especially on that late TD drive where they apparantly didn't cover Holmes at all.

I was wrong Thomkal - this was similar to the Philly game. Unfortunately for you, Arizona played the part of Philly. Congrats to the Steelers fans on the board. Fun game to watch.

Having said that, they probably should have at least reviewed it.

I'm wondering if that wasn't just a really heads up move by Pittsburgh to rush their offense out there and kneel the ball before the officials upstairs had time to really look at it and call for the review.

And while we're on the subject, I still haven't seen Holmes foot touch the ground yet, only the back of his own ankle.

And I say that while mildly hoping all night (to my son's dismay) that Pittsburgh would win since I think they're better overall than Arizona and didn't really have anything else to hang my rooting hat on but that was a drizzling shit of a finish.

I don't know if I've ever seen a game where conspiracy nuts are blaming the refs and NFL for trying to give the game away to both teams at the same time.

Very exciting super bowl regardless, the final 10 minutes or so really make up for any sloppiness in my mind. Congrats to Pittsburgh, and sorry thomkal

Watching it on the DVR-and, of course, I'm no expert, but here's what I saw.

It was obviously close- it seemed like he got hit right as he was about to throw it forward. It was the equivalent of "tie goes to the runner" in baseball. That made it look like his hand was going forward with the ball in it, but he had already lost possession and it was going forward with the ball over it. So, yeah, fumble, I think.

I *believe* a review would've upheld the fumble but I don't know how you don't review there. I think there would be 4 seconds left if I paused it right IF it was ruled incomplete so it would be one shot from the 29 yd line (the penalty would hold up I believe).

I may be in the minority here, but shouldn't every close call be an automatic review that late, with the game that close, in the Super Bowl? Buzz the referee on every close call just to be sure...

Officials upstairs should have called for review right away. I personally think it was an incomplete, but either way, it was close enough where there is no excuse not to review it.

For everyone's sanity it would've been nice to actually stop the game for the review. However, the replay booth had enough time to determine if a review was necessary and determined it was not.

As for Ben he was 21/30 for 256 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. I'd call that a very good game for any QB and will take those numbers every week for 16 weeks and call that player a Pro Bowler.

Maybe Obama will at least demand an explanation of why that call wasn't reviewed, lord knows that the increasingly shrill Michaels & Madden aren't going to question anything while doing their best imitation of Tony Schiavone. I'm really surprised they didn't call this the greatest Monday Nitro ever.

If they looked at that and determined the on-field ref shouldn't take a look at it then they should be fired. That play gets reviewed in any other game.

Shitty decision not to at least review it.
