All this talk of hour plus long waits is so foreign to me. I've never been anywhere it took longer than about 20 minutes to vote. Tho, again, did early voting this year since it looked like it might be a doozy and I try to get off a little early or get in a little late so I'm not hitting prime voting time.

538 had Obama at 98.9% over McCain in '08.

It seems surreal and indefensible to me that there are people who want to restrict other voters rights to vote, and justify it.

Look, we can all believe that X % of the American public is idiotic, misinformed, etc etc - but they have the same rights we do, and restricting their access is repulsive.

5-10 mins to vote in PA. My wife went earlier and said it was more like 20. Ultimately could not vote for Obama and felt like Stein was more in line with my belief structure than Johnson.

One might argue that a potential voter who is uninformed and ignorant of the issues at hand before voting has no business having a say in those affairs.

And before you answer, I totally understand (and agree) - it's impossible to accurately and fairly determine who fits into the ignorant/uninformed/blind voting category. I'm just saying it IS frustrating that people just walk in and blindly vote for people/resolutions they know absolutely nothing about. It's not hard to spend an few minutes researching what's on your ballot and what everyone/thing's about.

If there were a way to determine such people in a completely neutral, fair manner (there isn't), I'd support restricting their voting rights.

That's okay.

It's beyond surreal & indefensible to me that there are people who want fairly weighty matters decided by the least common denominator, and justify it.

Is there anyone in this thread (other than Jon, and nothing he says should come as a surprise) arguing this? Or is there some talking head going off about it somewhere?

Took my wife and I under 10 minutes to vote from parking the car to getting back to it. One of the ladies said it was really busy early and they expect a big crowd after 3p.

If you think Obama is going to win (as many do), short-selling some stock this afternoon/tomorrow morning wouldn't be a bad move.

"I Voted" stickers misspelled | www.kfoxtv.com

Quote:
"I Voted" stickers handed out to voters during early voting have a misspelling.

The phrase "E Pluribus Unum" on the sticker, displayed on the seal of the United States of America, is misspelled.

When I'd read about this I was really hoping they'd spelled it E Pluribus Anus.

In and out in 10 minutes today to vote, no problem. The early voting location was right next to the post office in my town, and every time I went down there to check my PO Box, the line was 45+ minutes for early voting. Procrastination once again pays off, no lines!

Also, I unsubscribed from r/politics on Reddit so that I can get my cat pictures without the political crazy for a few days. Much like r/atheism over there, its a prime example of a group whose ideas I largely agree with but whose actions make me heavily detest the people on my side.

Looks like independents are favoring Romney by 13 points in exit polls in Virginia. Isn't that a bit surprising?

Talked with the local election head about an hour ago. Said that voting in the KC area would likely exceed the 70% projection they made earlier this week. Said it would be more in the 75-78% range.

Both Fox & ABC are saying Indiana to Romney ... just FWIW.

First split in projections for the night I guess.

Just for those keeping score, somewhat widespread issues reported in Fulton Co, GA today. Name/address mismatches causing which-precinct-am-I problems, occurred all over the county (skews D south, skews R north) so possibly no major impact on either national candidate.

I just heard the name Connie Mack on TV and thought of the baseball man from olden times, I had no idea his great-grandson was running for Senate in Florida (and might lose it seems).
