So what's the balance in learning about whatever the right wing is conspiracy theory is each day and maintaining your sanity?

I had been going on Twitter since Charlie Kirk and just can't manage anymore because I need to maintain my sanity. But I think it's important to know what random shit conservatives are making up at any time. Like they've currently gone full racist on the Bad Bunny stuff and have decided that being called racist isn't a bad thing anymore.

But what is the balance? I feel like I need to know the stupid shit they're saying to know how to refute it to my idiotic inlaws, but like for my brain I just can't handle it. Reddit kinda filters it, but then to understand it you have to wade into the darker waters.

Yeah, I think my mom turns on Fox News occasionally for that recon, and I'm just like "Mom -- be careful."

It is unbelievable how stupid MAGA and Trump voters in general are. How anyone actually believed he knew nothing about Project 2025 is beyond me. Now he is thumbing it in their faces.

I don't think anyone believed that. They just know they weren't supposed to admit it.

Trump's trying to figure out a way to spend 50 bil on a handout to farmers without having to go through Congress. I'd like to think the GOP would object, but I know they'll be fine with it.

It's hard to believe that otherwise normal people can take such diametrically opposed positions on a daily basis and not have the self-awareness to see it. I guess self-delusion is much easier.

How anyone believed those that say they believed that he knew nothing about it is beyond me. In order to believe that he knew nothing about would require someone to actually read the Project 2025 information in the first place and then ignore everything that he said during the campaign. Even the Cliff Notes version would have made it clear that he knew and approved the message.

If someone was ignorant of the existence of Project 2025 and the subject matter within it, then yes I will believe that they believed he did not know about it. If they knew of the existence of Project 2025 and the subject matter within it, no I will provide the cover that the mean old campaign lied to them. Believing that provides cover for people who don't want others to blame/ostracize them if things are not working out as expected.

I think that's the plan, but that's wildly unconstitutional. If they can spend tariff money they can spend any money that comes into the Treasury.

This whole Netflix thing, it feels like conservatives forgot they watched Bugs Bunny cartoons and didn't end up trans.

And it appears some conservative "journalist" got arrested in Portland and now they're gonna send more troops there because I guess it's not fair?

So is nor appropriating money that Congress has voted on. Constitution is just not in play anymore.

The tariffs make more sense when you look at it not as an economic policy but a way to create a slush fund for friends and family. That Argentine bailout benefited one American hedge fund guy who is good friends with Bessent.

They'll just take the billions from those taxes and redistribute it to people they like.

Treasury says they are minting a one-dollar coin with Trump's likeness. The law says you can't mint coins with the image of someone still living, but nobody cares about the law anymore.

So here’s my rabbit hole:

Eventually you end up with a section of the military loyal to trump and a potentially smaller section loyal to the constitution and eventually there’s a very tense stand off when the Supreme Court rules in favor of trump and to stop the blood shed or imminent blood shed the constitutionalists lay down their arms and are deported.

I think we end up in a civil war of some sort if things go badly as they could but, unfortunately, some on both sides of the political spectrum think that civil war is the solution she one they’ve been preparing for for a very long time.

I don't know if there will be a civil war in the US, but I do think that some form of violence is the only way out of the current regime. Protests, lawsuits and elections are not going to work. Ultimately it will come down to whether the people opposed to this regime have the stomach to do what's necessary to oppose it. I don't envy those choices, but I believe that's what it has come to.

It's actually crazy how Conservatives would rather live like Russia, where everything is owned by a few people and everyone else loves in poverty, than have to acknowledge minorities are OK.

It's because generally conservatives are either:
- already in poverty, or;
- think they will be one of the few who will own everything.

For the racist idiots at the bottom there's no real change. For those who perceive themselves as rich (note this is very different from actually being truly rich) they think they are monied and/or smart enough to ride the wave ahead of the crest. And then the core component shared by both groups is just pathetic amounts of selfishness.

Given everything that's going on in Chicago, I thought this passage from the Declaration of Independence was apt:

Quote:
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries. He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation

There is no opposition party so who exactly is the civil war between? Democrats in power mostly support all this stuff minus the bad optics.

There is a large number of people that are very unhappy not represented by either party. Any kind of actual civil division will not come from anyone in Washington.

MAGA loyalists in the military and their public adherents claiming to be loyal to the constitution except really it’s trump

Vs

Members of the military claiming to be loyal to the constitution and unwilling to abide a future directive they find to be illegal while also being one of the few that won’t resign in protest

The latter would be the losers in my opinion

Btw the above idea was confirmed by a friend who is retired from the military. She says that this is already quietly happening except we’re still in the resigning or accepting of termination phase. She says this is actually already a civil war, it’s just what it looks like in America 2025.

Stephen Miller is reportedly pushing Trump to deploy the 82nd to Portland.

The order is already there from Miller, but Hegseth wants it from Trump directly, because even he is smart enough to understand the danger of that order.

We've hit the point where, if you're MAGA, it's time to accept that you're racist. The first administration you could make the argument that you didn't agree with the white supremacist part of the party and liked the other policies, but the reality is that the policies in this 2nd administration are largely driven by Stephen Miller, who is without a doubt a white supremacist. Those policies exist solely to punish brown people.

American citizens are being attacked, pulled from their vehicles, their homes, their place of work, and shipped off to be detained because they aren't white. They're being abused and they're being told they don't have rights. Again, because they aren't white.

MAGA is based on the absolute worst parts of American history. The civil rights battle and WW2 internment camps are what MAGA has decided is what their ideal version of America looks like.

It's one of the chillest cities anywhere in the country. Mostly a lot of weird artsy people.

Even the George Floyd protests were mostly escalated by extremists coming in from outside the city.

I like how the right keeps calling them riots, but all they ever post are videos of people standing around, being body slammed by police, or being hit with tear gas.

They're so violent that they... do nothing.

Per the government's own filing, it's only like 20 people protesting outside an ICE facility. Their reasons for needing the military per their filing is that someone shined a flashlight at an ICE officer twice and someone posted a photo of an unmarked ICE vehicle online. That's it. They couldn't even bother to make some shit up.

I also think it's clear that Miller is running the country. Trump's cognitive decline has been on display for some time and his health seems bad. He seems in his own world trying to get a Nobel Peace Prize or something. It'll be interesting to hear stories when this all ends but it doesn't seem like he is is doing much.

I think they are escalating because it was always the plan. Keep pushing hoping for the least little response as a reason to escalate further. Their dreams are full scale reeducation camps and mass deportation of non-whites. They keep turning the heat up until they reach their goal.

It's so weird seeing the right going against state rights and arguing that the judiciary isn't a co-equal branch of the government. I know it's just bad-faith fascism, but still annoying.

Also, Gizzy Maxwell had her appeal rejected by the Supreme Court.

Ryan Walters is under investigation by the Oklahoma AG mismanagement and missing funds. Apparently he had a guy that lives in Texas on his staff at the department of education in a $150k per year no show job and gave him another $40k in bonuses. The man had never worked for any department of education previously. There's also federal grant money missing that the department of education received but hasnt made its way to schools.

It is wild to me how poor, white MAGAs continue to vote for people who actively hurt them financially just because they are afraid of the Trans/abortion/DEI boogeyman that will never tangibly impact their life. But if a new president came in and got rid of Tariffs, lowered health care costs and helped the middle to lower middle class in taxes/jobs, their life would be significantly improved.
