Editing Plays During the Season

Are you able to edit a limited number of plays each week? If so, how? I edit a play and it doesn't save.

You can edit the plays but they will disappear after the game of that week is gone.

They are teorically to use to exploit rival's weakneses, therefore they don't get saved.

I'm editing a play that is in my gameplan. When I hit confirm it disappears and the original play is still in the gameplan.

I assume you're talking a MP league regarding your question. After the sim, ask your commish to export your playbook to the server. You can then restore your PB and the correct plays will be in your game plan.

Either a poor software design or one could even argue a bug. But that's how the game works currently.
