I'm going to be very interested in the playoff rankings. The AP rankings would make it very likely that three spots are taken by SEC/Cincy/Okla-OKSt with only one spot for B1G, SEC2, Pac10, and Notre Dame.

I expect Cincy will be fourth or out of the top four to start so that another P5 team can make it if it's still a logjam.

Wake Forest has given up 42 points to Army in just over three quarters today.
Rumors increasing the Wake will be invited to join the Big 12.

Or possibly the SEC West.

They seem to be the poster child, much more even than usual, for 'we're never all that impressive, but we just refuse to lose.' - meaning Oklahoma

The question comes down to whether the runners body actually went past the LOS. If not, then it was legal.

Kansas football was relevant today. That's an interesting development to be sure.

Overtime for PSU and Ill. I'm sure we'll end up with an entirely appropriate final score for a game that is 10-10 through 60 minutes. I'm calling 27-24 PSU in triple OT.

the rulebook actually goes into great detail about forward handoffs. doesn't come up a lot pic.twitter.com/WIZKVleQRE
— Rodger Sherman (@rodger) October 23, 2021

I think the handoff was legit, near as the rules go - that's what it looks like per the rule book. But I think the runner should have been ruled down with forward progress stopped before the handoff occurred.

I didn't realize that was the rule change. I thought it had to do with going for 2 after you scored, not just going for 2. What a horrible rule from a gimmicky way to win/lose standpoint.

I couldnt figure out how each team had a safety to make it 18-18.

Stupid rule.

B1G is either very overrated or very underrated.

The Illinois/PSU game summary is hilarious on several levels.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-fo...reboard/BIG10/

My personal favorite is the Passing yardage by the winning team's QB.

Yeah, I thought they changed it from having to go for 2 after the 3rd OT to going for 2 after the 2nd OT. That's what I thought the rule change was.

And because of the nutty new rules, the team that won the game with 357 rushing and only 38 passing yards all day did not run the ball after the 2nd OT.

I don't think the LSU players have all quit, but the "coaching" staff sure appears to have done so.

They haven't made an adjustment all day and it's starting to get them spanked.

Hard to believe how bad Clemson looks today. Getting physically manhandled and their skill players look so different from recent years.

This. I'm in favor of ties at the end of regulation in non-playoff or conference championship games. It's the most appropriate result if an hour wasn't enough to decide the result.

Just a logical extension of the 'normal' overtime rules IMO. Essentially 'we cant be bothered to keep playing standard football until somebody wins, so we're just going to cut out the middleman'. I'd prefer they just keep playing additional quarters until somebody ends up winning.

Could be the second one, but I'm taking a third option for now; parity in general. Outside of a very few elite teams (three at most this year), I think most teams are fully capable of losing almost any game at any location against any opponent.

Georgia is the only team I'm 100% sure belongs in the playoff based on performance so far. Everybody else is in some version of 'eh, depends on whether it's a good game for them or a bad game for them'.

Forgetting the first rule of cutting a promo: never bury the guy you beat.

If he sucks, then what did you really accomplish?

Tennessee hanging around, but yeah, I'm watching way more of the baseball game than I would have figured given it's an October Saturday night.

Storming the field/court should be a once every few seasons thing reserved for those "Can you believe it?!" major major upsets.

But now fans pretty much expect it, so it's just silly.

Jon had the right solution in that other thread. Fine the hell out of the home school and suspend the AD when it happens. Properly incentivized, the schools will put a stop to it right quick.

Kansas winning yesterday, after they even threw open the gates to let anyone and everyone in, would have merited storming the field

Next week was going to be a huge one for the Big Ten; not so much now that Penn State lost again. Unless a different team shows up, it's hard to imagine them giving Ohio State much of a challenge.

Michigan-MSU will at least tell us who the Buckeyes top challenger is in the East. Loser of that one could have a very rough finish to the season. Spartans closing schedule esp. is painful.

I cant wait. Sparty is likely going to come back down to earth, but what a job Tucker has done there this year. Tough as nails team with total buy-in from the players. I hope he stays to build on what he's done, but the CU thing makes me think he is leaving shortly.

Iowa State has little brother syndrome.

I think a buch of college kids running onto the field after a big win is awesome. College kids celebrating what their classmates accomplished. I rushed the field numerous times, tore down goal posts, Got my picture on the front page of the Cedar Rapids Gazette on the cross bar.

Great memories,

I think Ohio State is probably going to make the playoffs and think they will have earned it if they win out, but I think they are rated too high given who their wins are over and that they have that loss.

It also looks to me that an undefeated Cincy is going to need a lot of help to get in. Looking over the current top 10-15, it seems like a lot of other teams control their own destinies more so than they do.

Wisconsin opens as a 3-point favorite against Iowa. That ought to get tarcone fired up. Michigan favored by 4, that's at least in the right neighborhood although I see it more as a pick-em. I was curious what OSU-PSU would look like: OSU by 17.5. So they don't think that'll be much of a contest either.
