Best Ball Fantasy Football Interest?

Apparently this is the new trend among all the hip kids. Set it and forget it. You draft a roster and whichever players garner the most points in a given week are the ones that count as your score.

Example, you have 2 QB's on your roster, Brees and Hoyer, Hoyer gets 28 points while Brees merely gets 24, you get the 28 points from Hoyer.

Same goes for the other position groups.

Ideally I'd like to play for some sort of stakes, $50 perhaps? 10 team league $300 to first, $200 to second.

Still got a ways to go before the season but do I have any interest in doing this among my FOFC brethren?

Another usual suspect interested. Is there some sort of roster cap per position? Seems like there is an exploit in there that I would hate to lose against.

I'm in if it's 12 teams. 10 team best ball seems like a splooge-fest unless it's super deep starting lineups. You can run a best ball league on MFL for no cost with any setup.

If we do 12 teams, 100 to 3rd seems like a solid deal, makes a 3rd/4th place game worth something.

I'm down for as many teams as we can get. Having never done one of those I was just looking at standard roster/scoring but I'm open to however the majority feel.

Assuming we get this going sooner rather than later, would a board draft appeal to anyone or is that opening a can of complication worms?

I'm ok with a board draft fwiw, or a live draft on a website if we can't do it on the board. Plenty of time to find out how and when we can do that.

Couple of questions for those who have expressed interest.

1. Would you prefer H2H or just straight points across 17 weeks. I'm favoring points myself but I know a lot of people love H2H.

2. Standard scoring fine with everyone?
6 Pt TD Pass, 4 Pt Rushing or Receiving TD, -2 for fumble or pick, 1 point per yard rushing or receiving, 2 point per yard passing, 1 point per catch, standard def/sp points.

Do you mean .1 point per yard rushing/receiving and .04 points per yard passing?

I'm a H2H guy myself but I guess cumulative would work as well.

Standard scoring should be fine, just as long as we're not actually talking about 1 point per yard / 2 points per yard. Drew Brees would be a clear number 1 pick in that format and touchdowns would be worthless.

My one question is whether 4 points per passing TD would be considered standard now, since it seems to have been taking the place of the 6 point passing TD over the last 5-10 years or so.

K, I got the site going. Anyone who wants in, PM me your email and I'll shoot you off an invite. No firm commitment, just want to set the basics up. Money will be dealt with once we settle on a draft time.

It looks like MFL only does accumulated points for their draft only leagues. Just in case that's a deal breaker for anyone.

I don't recall ever playing in a head to head best ball league. With the set it and forget style, head to head would add an another element of luck. IE. Playing a team in Week 13 that doesn't have a QB due to injury. With total points, it's allows a team to have a few bad weeks and still be there in the end. Having said all that, I'm almost positive there is a way to setup a head-to-head bestball league on MFL. Only thing is, it'd probably fall under a league we'd have to pay for.

So there is no waiver wire/trades in this type of league? Not really a bad thing, actually kind of intriguing but I didn't realize this when I first read the thread.

Draft n' go. No pickups or waivers. The site figures out your best lineup and that's what you get. Normally the drafts are deep and it's your job to draft enough at each position and cover bye weeks. Some guys have slightly higher value in this format, but most hold to form. Mike Wallace is someone I pick a little higher in best ball than normal.

No nothing except a draft. Once you draft, that's your roster for the season. For instance, if you have 4 RB on your roster, and we start 3 RB, each week you'll get the best 3 scores from your 4 RB's.

OK guys, we're getting down to the nitty gritty and while I'd like to see this thing fly, I'm not real confident. So I'm going to join the next MLF25 league that starts and invite anyone interested to join me.

Fantasy Football: Public League Dashboard - MFL10s Home

If you scroll down to where it says Draft-Only Leagues Filling Now
I'll be joining the next $25 one that starts up, hopefully we can get a few FOFC'ers in there.
