Ok, we'll see what everybody else thinks. The mod isn't a huge deal, at this point I'm not sure if I could even install a mod without having to start over on these dynasties. I'm not sure how that would work. Can you install a mod and still keep saved games in tact?

A little bit of movement among our FOFCers. Jawouk Bafou has moved from Loyola Chicago to Oregon St., Ernesto Lopez went from Northern Iowa to Iowa, and everybody else stayed the same. There are a couple people I never heard from, but I am ready to move forward with this.
We also have a brand new coach, as Thomas Carrano (thmscrrn3) is taking over at Monmouth. 2012-2013 FOFC Coach Hotseat Ratings David Ginsberg (Hartford) -- Average Hotseat Rating, goal is to avoid last place in the America East. Cillian O'Reilly (Maine) -- Cillian has a cool seat now, and the board wants a .500 or better America East record. Kuji Chagulia (St. Louis) -- It's still an average set for Kuji, who is expected to lead the Billikens to the NCAA Tournament. Rob Nielsen (Colorado) -- It's an average hotseat for Rob, who is expected to get Colorado out of the cellar in the Big 12. Roy Rogers (High Point) -- Average hotseat, goal is to finish .500 or better in the Big South. Ernesto Lopez (Iowa) -- First season for Ernesto with the Hawkeyes, who just want postseason play. DeShawn St. John (Cal Poly) -- Average hot seat for DeShawn, as Cal Poly is expected to finish .500 or better in the Big West. Jeeber Mack (UTEP) -- The seat is cool for Jeeber, and UTEP is expected to play in the postseason, any tournament. Shane Korme (Wright St.) -- Shane has a cool seat, but a lofty goal to get Wright St to the NCAA Tournament. Alex Donovan (Bradley) -- Alex has a cool seat, and the board wants the Braves to compete for the MVC title. Ekeje Bafou (Evansville) -- It's just an average seat for Ekeje, and the Aces are expected to stay out of last place in the MVC. Timmy Tribble (Illinois State) -- It's just an average seat for Timmy, as the Redbirds are expected to play in a postseason tournament this season. Patrick Hutt (BYU) -- It's a cool seat for Patrick, who is expected to lead BYU to the Mountain West title. Score Galore (Bryant) -- It's an average seat for Mr. Galore, and Bryant is expected to stay out of last place in the Northeast Conference. Thomas Carrano (Monmouth) -- It's an average seat for Thomas in his first season as an FOFC coach, his goal is to lead Monmouth to a .500 or better record in the Northeast. Jawouk Bafou (Oregon State) -- Jawouk is in his first year with the Beavers, and he is expected to keep them out of the cellar in the Pac Ten. Randolph Childress (Davidson) -- Still an average seat for Randolph, and Davidson is expected to compete for the Southern championship this season. B.B. Gunn (Hawaii) -- The seat is cool for B.B. and all he needs to do is lead Hawaii to a .500 or better finish in the WAC. |

2012 Season Tournaments
Oregon State will be the 2nd seed in the 4 team Boulder Classic and they will open up with (3) Alabama State. Bradley will be the 9th seed in the 16 team Coaches Invitational and will open up against (8) VCU. Hawaii will be the 9th seed in the 16 team GDS Classic and will open up against (8) Pacific. Colorado is the 1st seed in the 4 team GDS Tip-off Tourney and will open up against (4) Radford. In a bit of irony, Loyola Chicago (Jawouk Bafou's former school), is the #2 seed in this tourney. Evansville is the 7th seed in the Island Invitational and will open up against (2) Providence. St. Louis is the 6th seed in the Maui Shootout and will open up against (3) West Virginia. Illinois State is the 3rd seed in the Orlando Classic and will open up against (6) Colorado State. UTEP is the 2nd seed in the Rainbow Invitational and will open up against (7) Detroit. Iowa is the 3rd seed in the 4 team Travelers Invitational and will open up against (2) Gonzaga. Wright State is the 1st seed in the 4 team Vision Classic and will open up against (4) Navy. BYU is the 1st seed in the 4 team Youth Invitational and will open up against (4) Northwestern. So 11 of our 18 FOFC teams are in a preseason tournament, but at least this time we don't have multiple teams in the same tourney. |

2012 Season Tournament Wrap-Up
2012 Boulder Classic Oregon State beat (3) Alabama State 67-50 in the first found then lost 61-53 to (1) Louisiana Tech in the championship game. 2012 Coaches Invitational Bradley lost their first round game 77-75 to (8) VCU. 2012 GDS Classic Hawaii beat (8) Pacific 71-58 in the first round, then lost a hard fought game 77-67 to (1) Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals. 2012 GDS Tip-Off Tourney Colorado hammered (4) Radford 76-51 in the first round then beat (3) Hampton 70-62 in the championship game to become our first FOFC coached team to win a preseason tournament this season! Congrats to Rob Nielsen. 2012 Island Invitational Evansville lost 54-36 to (2) Providence in the first round, then dropped a heartbreaker to (6) Penn 68-66 in the consolation bracket, then lost 65-56 to (5) Western Michigan in the 7th place game. 2012 Maui Shootout St. Louis beat (3) West Virginia 79-72 in the first round, then lost 78-61 to (2) Florida in the semifinals, and followed that up with a 77-66 loss to (1) Michigan State in the 3rd place game. 2012 Orlando Classic Illinois State beat (6) Colorado State 73-63 in the first round, then got by (2) Arkansas 73-60 in the semifinals, but lost 82-72 to (1) Texas A&M in the championship game. 2012 Rainbow Invitational UTEP beat (7) Detroit 78-58 in the first round, then hammered (6) UL-Lafayette 71-42 in the semifinals and became our second FOFC coached team to win a preseason tournament by demolishing (5) Belmont 67-47 in the championship game. The Miners lucked out a little bit by not having to play top seed Arizona State, but still winning 3 days in a row is impressive no matter who you beat. 2012 Travelers Invitational Iowa lost to (2) Gonzaga 80-64 in the first round, then had an embarrassing loss to (4) Ohio 70-54 in the 3rd place game. Ugh! 2012 Vision Classic Wright State beat (4) Navy 64-48 in the first round, then beat (3) UMBC 69-53 in the championship game. So 3 of our teams won a preseason tournament title, and a couple more finished second. Not a bad run for our teams. |

Let's take a look at how our FOFC coaches have fared through Dec. 30, 2012
Hartford (David Ginsberg) -- 2-10, 1-0 America East. It's been rough for Hartford so far, but they did get conference play started off right by beating Maine. Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 5-7, 0-1 America East. The Black Bears got a nice road win at Harvard, but lost their conference opener to Hartford. St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 6-5, 0-0 Atlantic Ten. The Billikens are barely over .500, and have already played 3 MVC teams, of which they've went 1-2 against. Their best win is their season opening win against West Virginia. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 6-5, 0-0 Big 12. The Buffaloes have played sub .500 ball since winning the GDS Tip-Off Tourney. They did have nice wins against Wichita St. and Colorado St., and a narrow loss to BYU, but the schedule gets brutal entering conference play. High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 7-4, 2-0 Big South. Great start to the conference schedule for the Panthers who rolled in their first 2 Big South games. Winning by 18 at ECU is also a nice win. Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 3-7, 0-1 Big Ten. The Hawkeyes have played a really tough schedule, one of the toughest in the nation so far. Only 2 of their first 10 opponents have a losing record. They've got a quality 15 point win at Missouri. Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) -- 1-9, 0-0 Big West. The lone win on the schedule was a 16 point win at Maine. All but 2 of their losses have been by double digits. UTEP (Jeeber Mack) -- 9-1, 0-0 Conference USA. Great start for Jeeber and the Miners, who's only loss came at the hands of New Mexico which is a top 15 team. Unfortunately, the SOS for UTEP hasn't been strong, so it's hard to get a read on how good this UTEP team really is. Wright State (Shane Korme) -- 3-8, 1-1 Horizon. The home conference win against Green Bay broke an 8 game losing streak after Wright State won the Vision Classic to begin the season. Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 7-4, 1-0 MVC. The Braves have solid wins against Illinois and Purdue, as well as St. Louis, and won their conference opener over a tough Southern Illinois team. Evansville (Ekeje Bafou) -- 3-8, 1-1 MVC. It's been streak city for the Aces, who lost their first 7, then won their next 3, and have lost their last one to Creighton. They have no interest in another losing streak. Illinois State (Timmy Tribble) -- 7-6, 1-1 MVC. The Redbirds have been solid if not spectacular. A season opening home loss to Seattle could haunt the Redbirds come selection Sunday, especially if they are on the bubble. They have countered that by handing Texas A&M their only loss of the season, and they did it on the road no less. BYU (Patrick Hutt) -- 9-2, 0-0 Mountain West. 2 losses to New Mexico St. and St. Marys are all that stand in the way of a perfect start for the Cougars. Wins against Oregon and Colorado are big, as well as a hammering of Penn St. Bryant (Score Galore) -- 1-10, 0-0 Northeast. The only win of the season for the Bulldogs so far is a 7 point win against Siena. The schedule has been solid, but losing to Brown by 26 points is unacceptable. Monmouth (Thomas Carrano) -- 4-6, 0-0 Northeast. The highlight of the season is a 9 point win over St. Bonaventure, as Monmouth has also played a fairly tough non-conference schedule. Oregon State (Jawouk Bafou) -- 5-5, 0-0 Pac Ten. The Marquee win for the Beavers so far is the 4 point win at Wake Forest, but losing to teams like Portland State and UC Davis hurt. Davidson (Randolph Childress) -- 9-2, 0-0 Southern. This is a great start for a team that basically ran through the Southern Conference last season. No shame in losing to Georgia and Duke, especially when you beat Georgia Tech and Kansas State. Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 3-7, 0-0 WAC. The season opening win against Pacific is the best win, as the Warriors have only played 2 teams with a losing record thus far. Code:
A very weak strength of schedule is the reason UTEP doesn't even sniff a vote in the AP Top 25. Code:

The Billikens split a pair of non-conference games this week, hosting Central Arkansas and winning 89-53, then losing at DePaul 78-75. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 6-6, 0-0 Big 12. The Buffaloes played hard in their only game this week, but lost at Wyoming 81-73. High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 7-6, 2-1 Big South. Not a good week for the Panthers who hosted Duke in a non-conference game and got hammered 82-57, then returned to Big South play, hosting Radford and losing 55-47. Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 4-8, 1-2 Big Ten. A split this week for the Hawkeyes, who lost 84-63 at Purdue then returned home and beat Northwestern 69-67. Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) -- 2-10, 0-0 Big West. Only 1 game this week for the Mustangs, but it was a successful one, as they beat San Jose St. 76-70 at home to get a nice boost heading into conference play. Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 9-4, 3-0 MVC. 2 big wins for the Braves at home this week, and by big I mean blowouts. First they beat Evansville 75-44, then they beat Drake 82-44. The Hawks split this week, winning a non-conference home game against Fordham 61-50, then returning to conference play and getting hammered at Stony Brook 78-55. Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 7-9, 2-2 America East. Busy week for the Black Bears who had 3 games. First a non-conference game at Buffalo in which they lost 70-62, then back to conference play as they hosted New Hampshire and won 83-75, then travelled to Binghamton and won 53-45. All 3 games were decided by 8 points. Wow. St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 8-6, 0-0 Atlantic Ten. Just 1 game this week for the Billikens, an 86-61 home victory over Illinois-Chicago. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 6-7, 0-1 Big 12. The Buffaloes are starting to turn a few heads after another close but no cigar performance against a top team, this time losing at Baylor 109-103 in a game that went at least 2 overtimes. High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 9-6, 4-1 Big South. Good week for the Panthers, who won 2 home games, first 58-51 over VMI, then 55-52 over Liberty. Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 5-9, 2-3 Big Ten. A road split this week for the Hawkeyes, who won 81-66 at Ohio St. then lost 79-60 at Indiana. Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) -- 2-12, 0-2 Big West. The Mustangs got back to their losing ways this week, hosting UC Santa Barbara and losing 87-78, then travelling to UC Irvine and losing 53-50. Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 11-4, 5-0 MVC. The winning streak is 6 now for the Braves, who this week won at Northern Iowa 75-60, then won at Illinois St. 87-73. Evansville (Ekeje Bafou) -- 5-10, 2-3 MVC. Nice week for the Aces who won 2 home games. First a 65-56 non-conference win over Marshall, then back to conference play with a 52-44 win over Drake. Illinois St. (Timmy Tribble) -- 8-9, 2-4 MVC. The Redbirds continue to struggle, losing 2 home games this week. First a 74-70 loss to Southern Illinois, then an 87-73 loss to Bradley. BYU (Patrick Hutt) -- 11-4, 0-2 Mountain West. A huge bump in the road for the Cougars this week, losing their first 2 conference games. First they lost 94-89 at a New Mexico team that is still undefeated, then a 76-62 win at a 1 loss Wyoming team. Nothing to be ashamed of based on quality of competition, but those are the games the Cougars must win to establish themselves as a contender. Bryant (Score Galore) -- 2-13, 1-3 Northeast. A split this week for the Bulldogs, who hosted Sacred Heart and won 60-52, then lost at St. Francis-PA 57-50. Monmouth (Thomas Carrano) -- 7-7, 3-1 Northeast. The Hawks split this week, winning 59-56 at St. Francis-NY then hosting Sacred Heart and losing 79-73 in overtime. Oregon St. (Jawouk Bafou) -- 7-7, 1-2 Pac Ten. A home split this week for the Beavers, who hosting Washington St. and won 73-68 then hosted Washington and lost 94-90 in overtime. Davidson (Randolph Childress) -- 13-2, 4-0 Southern. The Wildcats continue to roll with 2 more victories this week. First a hard fought game at College of Charleston in which they squeaked out a 58-56 win, then a return home to host Citadel in a game that was over after the first 5 minutes, as Davidson won 92-33. Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 5-8, 2-0 WAC. Great week for the Warriors who get off on the right foot in conference play. First a 77-61 win at Louisiana Tech, then returning home to host San Jose St. and winning 62-49. Code:
Not a surprise that BYU is out of the top 25, but I didn't think they'd lose all their votes. And come on, where's the love for Bradley and Davidson, and even UTEP? Code:
Let's welcome Bradley to the mid-major top 25 after a good week, and no surprise to see BYU take a massive drop. 3 teams receive first place votes in this poll, and I find it hard to believe there are only 29 non-BCS teams that are deserving of a mid-major vote. Incredible. |

A new feature I'm including in this (and for the interactive recruit dynasty for those involved in it) is a weekly bubble watch. Once the bubble watch becomes available (usually the First week of February), I will post it. Keep in mind there is an overall bubble watch featuring the 15 teams that are the most on the bubble, and then there are projections by conference. I'll post both.

So Bradley is our only team in the overall Bubble Watch, and they've still got some work to do. Now, I'm not going to post all of the conference bubble watches, I'll just mention our FOFC teams. Hartford is projected out. Maine is projected out. St. Louis is projected out. Colorado is projected out. High Point is projected out. Iowa is projected out. Cal Poly is project out. UTEP is a lock, at the moment. Wright State is projected out. Evansville is projected out. Illinois State is projected out. BYU is projected in. They are not on the bubble and not a lock. Bryant is projected out. Monmouth is projected out. Oregon State is projected out. Davidson is projected out. Wow. Hawaii is projected out. A couple notes, these projections are for the NCAA Tournament only. This doesn't take into effect any other postseason tournaments. Some of you may be wondering how Davidson can be projected out win they are undefeated in conference play and have lost twice. The simple answer is, the bubble watch and projections on this game do not take into account current conference leaders, only whether a team would be considered for an at-large berth. At this point, the game feels Davidson as not done enough to earn an at-large berth, hence why they are projected out. Hope you all are enjoying, that's it for the night. Just trying to get a head count of who is still reading along on this and who has lost interest. I know sometimes it takes me a few days in between posts, I'm hoping to be able to make a lot more posts, so if you're still reading give me a shout.
Something I'm considering after the current season is to realign the conferences to how they are currently. I'm taking opinions on whether you guys want me to make things current or leave them as is. Looking forward to getting some opinions. Thanks |

How easy is it for you to realign conferences? If it's too much trouble, don't worry about it, but if it's easy, then please. I don't know.... I have mixed feelings about Hawaii being in the WAC.

I could always create the new teams, but come to think of it, it is a lot of work, almost like creating a mod, except not quite as much work. I'm not sure if it's worth it or not come to think of it. The only other option would be to download the most current mod and start this over, and as many times as I've had to restart, I'm not really looking forward to doing it again. I think.. I will probably just leave things as is unless I have a lot of requests to realign things as best as possible. |

Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 9-16, 3-9 T-9th Big 12. The Buffaloes split their games this week, beating Oklahoma State 75-68 at home, then travelling to Kansas State and losing 73-61. High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 12-15, 7-9 T-6th Big South. The losing streak is 4 now for the Panthers, who this week lost 65-57 at Presbyterian then lost 93-61 at Winthrop. Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 12-14, 7-8 7th Big Ten. The Hawkeyes split their games this week, winning 72-69 at Michigan then returning home and getting hammered 89-42 by Purdue. Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) -- 6-19, 3-9 7th Big West. Just 1 game this week for the Mustangs, who lost at home 66-54 to Cal St. Fullerton. UTEP (Jeeber Mack) -- 18-8, 6-6 T-6th Conference USA. Not sure what is going on with the Miners who were 18-2 at one point but have now lost 6 in a row. This week they lost at home 74-62 to Southern Miss then were embarrassed at an 8 win Rice team, 89-85. Wright State (Shane Korme) -- 12-15, 9-7 T-4th Horizon. The Raiders hosted 2 games this week, first a non-conference 92-69 loss to Michigan, then back to Horizon play by beating Detroit 65-55. Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 18-9, 12-5 2nd MVC. 2 more wins for the Braves this week, both at home. First 85-77 over Creighton, then 69-58 over Indiana State. Bradley still has a chance to win the regular season MVC title. Evansville (Ekeje Bafou) -- 7-20, 4-12 10th (last) MVC. The Aces dropped 2 home games this week, losing 70-47 to Wichita State then losing 70-62 to Missouri State. Illinois State (Timmy Tribble) -- 18-10, 11-5 3rd MVC. The Redbirds are also in the hunt for the regular season MVC crown after winning their only game this week, 71-62 at Northern Iowa. UTEP is projected out. Wright State is projected out. Illinois State is projected out. Evansville is projected out. BYU as of right now is a lock. Monmouth is projected out. Bryant is projected out. Oregon State is projected out. Davidson is projected out. Hawaii is projected out. I still think more than 1 of our FOFC teams gets in the NCAA tournament. I can see 2, maybe 3. I can also see another 4 teams at least getting into postseason play. BYU, UTEP, St. Louis, Bradley, Illinois St., and Davidson should all be playing meaningful games in mid to late March. |

They will be the 5th seed in the America East tourney and ironically will open up against Hartford. St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 19-9, 11-3 3rd Atlantic Ten. 2 home wins this week for the Billikens. First a 76-68 win over St. Josephs, then a 70-61 win over George Washington. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 9-18, 3-11 10th Big 12. The Buffaloes lost 2 games this week, losing 92-77 at Iowa State then returning home to lose to Nebraska 70-59. High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 13-16, 8-10 T-5th Big South. The Panthers split 2 home games to finish the regular season, hammering Charleston Southern 74-44 then losing 80-65 to Coastal Carolina. They'll be the 5th seed in the Big South tourney and will open up against (4) Gardner Webb. Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 14-14, 9-8 6th Big Ten. The Hawkeyes got 2 huge wins this week, first winning at a top 15 Michigan State team 78-69, then returning home to beat Illinois 69-68 in overtime. Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) -- 7-20, 4-10 7th Big West. The Mustangs split a pair this week, winning 51-49 at UC Riverside, then returning home and losing 77-73 in overtime to UC Davis. UTEP (Jeeber Mack) -- 20-8, 8-6 T-4th Conference USA. The Miners finally got back on the winning side this week, going on the road twice, first beating a top 25 Tulsa team 88-84, then won at Central Florida 72-59. Wright State (Shane Korme) -- 13-16, 10-8 5th Horizon. The Raiders split 2 road games this week, losing 85-78 at Milwaukee, then winning 63-55 at Green Bay. They'll be the 5th seed in the Horizon tourney and will open up against (8) Detroit. Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 18-10, 12-6 2nd MVC. The Braves lost at Southern Illinois 77-69 to finish the regular season. They'll be the 2nd seed in the MVC tourney and get a bye to the quarterfinals, where they'll take on the winner between (10) Evansville/(7) Indiana State. Evansville (Ekeje Bafou) -- 8-21, 5-13 10th (last) MVC. The Aces split 2 road games this week, losing 84-55 at Creighton, then beating Indiana State 64-57. They'll travel for a non-conference game next week before being the 10th seed in the MVC tourney, taking on (7) Indiana State. Illinois State (Timmy Tribble) -- 18-12, 11-7 3rd MVC. The Redbirds missed a golden opportunity by losing a couple 1 point games this week. First a 55-54 loss at conference winner Missouri State, then an 80-79 loss at Wichita State. They'll be the 3rd seed in the MVC tourney and will turn around and open up against (6) Wichita State, looking for revenge. BYU (Patrick Hutt) -- 22-6, 11-4 1st Mountain West. The Cougars keep winning, now having a 7 game win streak. First they hosted Colorado State and won 85-58 then travelled to TCU and won 91-81. Bryant (Score Galore) -- 5-24, 4-14 T-12th (last) Northeast. 2 losses to end the regular season for the Bulldogs, first hosting and losing 49-47 to Quinnipiac, then losing 63-46 at Mt. St. Marys. Since the Northeast tourney only takes the top 8 teams, Bryant failed to qualify and their season is over. Monmouth (Thomas Carrano) -- 15-13, 11-7 T-3rd Northeast. The Hawks split this week, hosting Mt. St. Marys and winning 63-52, then losing 40-36 at Sacred Heart. They have a non-conference game next week, then enter Northeast tourney play as the 5th seed after losing the 3 team tiebreaker. They'll open up tourney play against (4) Wagner. Oregon State (Jawouk Bafou) -- 7-21, 1-16 10th (last) Pac Ten. Surprise surprise! 2 more losses for the elder Bafou, both at home. First 82-63 against UCLA, then 80-61 against USC. Davidson (Randolph Childress) -- 25-4, 16-2 1st in South Division of Southern. The Wildcats finished the regular season by winning 2 games. First hosting UNC Greensboro and winning 80-53, then winning at Citadel 70-56. They'll be the top seed in the Southern tourney and will get a bye to the quarterfinals where they will take on the winner of (9) Chattanooga/(8) Elon. Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 11-16, 7-8 5th WAC. With that loss this week, it gets tougher for Bradley, who probably needs to make the MVC Championship to get an at-large bid, maybe even win it to get an auto bid. Now let's look at the other 17 teams. The teams that are playing their conference tourneys next week, I will give a little extra info on what I think they need to do to make not only the NCAA tourney, but the postseason in general. Maine is projected out. They need to win the America East tourney to even sniff more postseason play. Hartford is in the same boat as Maine. St. Louis is still projected out. Colorado is projected out. High Point is projected out, and needs to win the Big South tourney to see postseason play. Iowa is projected out. Cal Poly is projected out. UTEP is still projected out. Wright State is projected out. Like the others so far, they need to win their conference tourney to see postseason play. Illinois State is projected out. I think they need to win the MVC tourney to get an NCAA Tourney bid, I don't think they have enough of an at-large case even if they make the MVC championship. Regardless, they will see postseason play, most likely in the NIT or CBI. Evansville is projected out. It's win the tourney or be done for the Aces. BYU is still a lock. Monmouth is projected out. They must win the Northeast Tourney to see the NCAA Tourney, and they probably need to win 1, maybe even 2 games to see the postseason at all. Bryant is done for the season. A few of our FOFC teams are in conference tournaments this week, so let's look and see how they did. America East Tournament Hartford (David Ginsberg) lost in the quarterfinals to (5) Maine 75-66, meaning their season is over with a 9-21 record. Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) beat (4) Hartford 75-66 in the quarterfinals, then beat upset minded (8) Albany 56-44 in the semifinals. They'll take on (3) Stony Brook in the America East championship next week, a game they must win. It's either win and go dancing, or lose and go home. Big South Tournament High Point (Roy Rogers) lost 73-68 to (4) Gardner Webb in the First Round, meaning their season is over with a 13-17 record. Horizon Tournament Wright State (Shane Korme) hammered (8) Detroit 88-65 in the First round, then dropped a heartbreaker in the Quarterfinals, 68-67 to (4) Cleveland State. The Raiders will end their season with a 14-17 record. MVC Tournament Bradley (Alex Donovan) beat (7) Indiana State 89-51 in the Quarterfinals, then beat (3) Illinois State 83-75 in the Semifinals, and absolutely blitzed (1) Missouri State 93-67 in the MVC Championship, as they will go dancing with a 21-10 record. Guessing their seed? I'd say anywhere from 10-12. Evansville (Ekeje Bafou) lost 84-73 to (7) Indiana State in the play-in round, and the Aces end their season with a 9-22 record. Obviously if the Hawks win that game they go dancing, but even if they lose, they would have an 18-14 record, and that's gotta give them consideration for the CIT, maybe the CBI. Southern Tournament Davidson (Randolph Childress) hammered (8) Elon 75-50 in the Quarterfinals, then got by upset minded (12) Citadel 64-62 in the Semifinals. They'll take on (3) College of Charleston next week in the Southern Championship. Unfortunately, if they want to go dancing, they've got to win. The scenario is NCAA if they win, NIT if they lose. That leaves us with 8 FOFC teams that finished their regular season this week, let's recap them. St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 19-11, 11-5 T-3rd Atlantic Ten. The Billikens ended their regular season with a huge thud, losing 71-62 at Charlotte then losing 76-58 at Xavier. They'll be the 3rd seed in the A-Ten Tourney, getting a bye to the Quarterfinals where they await the winner of (11) GW/(6) Charlotte. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 10-19, 4-12 T-9th Big 12. The Buffaloes got a huge split this week, winning 83-73 at Missouri before returning home to host Texas and losing 98-65. They'll be the 10th seed in the Big 12 Tourney where they will take on (7) Missouri in the First Round. Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 14-15, 9-9 T-6th Big Ten. The Hawkeyes had 1 game this week, a home game against Minnesota in which they lost 54-52. They'll be the 6th seed in the Big Ten Tourney, opening up against (11) Northwestern. Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) -- 7-22, 4-12 7th Big West. The Mustangs dropped 2 this week, losing at home to Pacific 68-60, then losing at Cal St. Northridge 72-59. They'll be the 7th seed in the Big West Tourney, opening up against (6) Long Beach State. UTEP (Jeeber Mack) -- 22-8, 10-6 T-4th Conference USA. 2 wins for the Miners to finish the regular season, first a 72-61 home win over UAB, then a 76-43 smashing of ECU. They'll be the 5th seed in the C-USA Tourney where they open up by getting to smash.. I mean play (12) ECU again. BYU (Patrick Hutt) -- 22-7, 11-5 T-1st Mountain West. The Cougars missed a chance to win the MWC title outright by losing at home 71-60 to Utah. What's even worse, they lost all the possible tiebreakers in the 3 team tie for first, so they get the 3rd seed in the MWC Tourney, opening up against (6) Wyoming. Oregon State (Jawouk Bafou) -- 7-22, 1-17 10th (last) Pac Ten. The Beavers fought hard, but lost their final game of the regular season, at home, 69-62 to Oregon. They'll obviously be the 10th seed in the Pac Ten Tourney and open up against (7) Washington. Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 12-17, 7-9 T-5th WAC. The Warriors split this week, having 2 home games. First they lost 76-55 against Nevada, then ended the regular season by hosting non-conference Northwestern and beating them 71-53. They'll be the 6th seed in the WAC Tourney and open up against (3) New Mexico State. Code:

For the bubble watch this week, I'm just going to recap the teams that will be playing or finishing their conference tournaments next week. Maine is projected out. It's win the America East final or be done. St. Louis is still projected out. They probably need to win 2 games in the A-Ten Tourney to have a shot at an at-large bid, but will be playing somewhere in the postseason. Colorado is still projected out. They need to upset a lot of teams in the Big 12 Tourney to sniff postseason play. Iowa is projected out. To get a bid to the NCAA Tourney, then need to win the Big Ten Tourney. To see any type of postseason action, I'd say they need to win 2 games in the Big Ten Tourney, at least. Cal Poly is projected out. It's win the Big West Tourney or be done for them. UTEP is still projected out. Winning 1 game in the C-USA Tourney might be enough, but I think winning 2 would be a heck of a lot better. Either way, their season will be extended. BYU is a lock for the NCAA Tournament, and every game they win in the MWC Tourney just helps their NCAA seed. Monmouth is projected out. If they win the Northeast Championship they go dancing. If they don't, they have a shot to play in the CBI or CIT. Oregon State is projected out. It's win the Pac Ten Tourney or be done for the Beavers. We've got 11 of our 18 FOFC coached teams playing or finishing conference tournaments this week, so let's get it started. America East Tournament Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) beat (3) Stony Brook 67-50 in the Championship game and is going dancing with a 15-17 record. The Black Bears will almost certainly be in one of the First Four games battling for a #16 seed. Atlantic Ten Tournament St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) beat (6) Charlotte 91-71 in the Quarterfinals, then lost 89-74 to (2) Xavier in the Semifinals. I don't think a 20-12 record will be enough to get the Billikens into the NCAA Tournament, I think they'll be a 1 or 2 seed in the NIT. Big 12 Tournament Colorado (Rob Nielsen) lost 66-64 to (7) Missouri in the First Round. The Buffaloes will end their season with a 10-20 record. Big Ten Tournament Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) beat (11) Northwestern 55-51 in the First Round, then lost 63-52 to (3) Purdue. A 15-16 record probably keeps the Hawkeyes out of the postseason, but they could sneak into the CIT or CBI. Highly doubtful though. Big West Tournament Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) lost to (6) Long Beach State 54-46 in the First Round. The Mustangs will end their season with a 7-23 record. Conference USA Tournament UTEP (Jeeber Mack) beat (12) ECU 63-55 in the First Round, then lost 68-60 to (4) Marshall in the Quartefinals. I hate to say it, but I think the Miners will be left out of the Big Dance. I think they are NIT bound as a 1 seed. Mountain West Tournament BYU (Patrick Hutt) beat (6) Wyoming 74-40 in the Quarterfinals, then got by (2) New Mexico 75-70 in the Semifinals, then finished it off by beating (4) UNLV 83-71 in the Championship. The Cougars were in the NCAA Tournament anyways, but winning the MWC Tournament probably will net them a 4 or 5 seed, although I could see them get relegated to a 6 or 7 seed. Bradley gets the 12th seed in the NCAA East Region, and will take on (5) Ole Miss in the First Round (screw the way it's called now, the First Four are play-in games and the Second Round games are First Round games as far as this dynasty goes.) BYU gets the 3rd seed in the NCAA East Region, even better than I expected, and will take on (14) VCU in the First Round. Maine will be in a play-in game for the 16th seed in the NCAA East Region. In a bit of irony, their opponent will be St. Francis-PA, who kept Monmouth out of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of that game gets the right to get slaughtered by (1) UConn. So 3 of our FOFC teams make the big dance, all in the same region. Can't believe they shipped BYU out east. For those that don't remember, I edited the NIT to 40 teams again, instead of 32. I figured with the 8 extra teams, maybe 1 of our teams would make the postseason that wouldn't have made it otherwise. UTEP gets the 6th seed (what??) in the NIT Midwest Region and will travel to (3) Weber St in the Second Round (this is just as it seems, the 7/10, 8/9 games in the NIT regions were considered First Round games when the actual NIT had 40 teams, and they'll be considered First Round games here too.) But wow, UTEP as a 6 seed? Apparently they were nowhere close to making the NCAA Tournament. Illinois State gets the 9th seed in the NIT South Region, travelling to (8) Valparaiso in the First Round, with the winner travelling to (1) Penn State. St. Louis gets the 3rd seed in the NIT South Region, and will host (6) Siena in the Second Round. Davidson gets the 5th seed in the NIT East Region, and will travel to (4) Hofstra in the Second Round. Monmouth gets the 12th seed in the CIT and will travel to (5) UNC Wilmington in the First Round. So not bad, 8 of our 18 FOFC coached teams extend their seasons. Hard to think any of our teams got snubbed this season, although you have to wonder if Monmouth had made the CIT had I not edited the NIT to 40 teams. If the NIT were 32, Monmouth might have gotten left out. |

2013 Postseason Wrap-Up
The 2013 NCAA Final Four saw (6S) Florida beat (5W) Syracuse 67-62 and (4MW) Wisconsin hammer (1E) UConn 77-59. The national title game saw Florida beat Wisconsin 70-62. The 2013 CBI, in a very rare occurance, saw the top 2 seeds playing for the title. (2) Notre Dame defeated (1) Ohio 2 games to 1 in the CBI championship series. Ohio won the first game 85-66, then Notre Dame took care of business in the next two, winning 66-44 and 72-57. And in the other extreme, the CIT Championship saw the bottom 2 seeds doing battle, as (15) Santa Clara beat (16) Murray State 58-51. |

Just 1 national award for our FOFC coached teams. Illinois State put C Charles Colquitt on the all-Freshman Team. 2012-2013 Conference Awards Hartford put SG Michael Northern on the America East All-Freshman Team. Maine put C Michael Conger and FR Kenneth Saylor on the America East All-Freshman Team. Saylor was also named the America East Freshman of the Year. St. Louis put SR SG Dean Byrne on the A-Ten First Team. Colorado put PG Jack Harrell on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. High Point put C Daniel Faucher on the Big South All-Freshman Team. No awards for any Iowa players or coaches. Cal Poly put PF Charles Fears on the Big West All-Freshman Team. UTEP put JR PF Johnie Burney on the C-USA All-First Team, SR PF August Persaud on the All-League Second Team, and C Svyatopolk Kasparaitis (wow what a name!) on the C-USA All-Freshman Team. No awards for Wright State Bradley had the MVC Player of the Year in JR SG Leon Woods. Woods also made the All-League First Team. SR SF Reginald Fetter and SR PG Orlando Olson made the All-League Second Team. Evansville put SF Eldon Giordano on the All-Freshman Team. Illinois State had the MVC Freshman of the Year in Charles Colquitt. He also made the All-Freshman Team. SR SF Joseph Murrell made the All-League First Team. BYU put JR PG Joseph Kovac on the Mountain West All-League First Team, and JR C Cristobal Lunt and JR SG Jordon Benham made the All-League Second Team. No awards for Bryant. Monmouth put SR SG Robin Shill and SR PG Robert Ragsdale on the Northeast All-League Second Team. Oregon State put PG Mervin Hauser on the Pac Ten All-Freshman Team. Davidson SR SG Kevin Perry was the Southern Player of the Year, and also made the All-League 1st Team. SR PF Josiah Backman also made 1st Team, while SR C Bret Ferreira and JR SF Elton Fahey made All-League 2nd Team. Hawaii put SR SG Howard Dixon on the WAC All-League Second Team, while C Dierk Pichelmayr made the WAC All-Freshman Team. |

Hartford had the 213th best class, good for 4th in the America East. Maine had the 313th best class, good for 7th in the America East. St. Louis had the 111th best class, good for 5th in the Atlantic Ten. Colorado had the 18th best class, good for 4th in the Big 12. High Point had the 73rd best class, tops in the Big South by a wide margin. Iowa had the 7th best class, good for 2nd in the Big Ten. Cal Poly had the 53rd best class, tops in the Big West by a fair margin. UTEP had the 87th best class, good for 4th in Conference USA. The Miners had the only 4 star recruit for the conference however. Wright State had the 133rd best class, good for 3rd in the Horizon. Illinois State had the 65th best class, good for 4th in the MVC. Evansville had the 289th best class, good for 9th in the MVC. Bradley had the 346th best class, last in the MVC. The Braves failed to recruit anybody. BYU had the 22nd best class, tops in the Mountain West by just a little bit. Monmouth had the 207th best class, good for 6th in the Northeast. Bryant had the 296th best class, good for 8th in the Northeast. Oregon State had the 72nd best class, good for 7th in the Pac Ten. Davidson had the 219th best class, good for 6th in the Southern. Hawaii had the 62nd best class, good for 4th in the WAC. |

1 change in NCAA conference movement this season, and it is a very important one. Oregon State has been demoted to the WAC, while Utah State takes their spot in the Pac Ten. As far as recruiting goes, Oregon State, with the 72nd best class, that is good for 5th in the WAC, their new conference.
Sorry B.B. Gunn, Hawaii now has some FOFC competition in the WAC. Good luck to both of you! Some of our head coaches received job offers in the first round of head coach movement Kuji Chagulia is being courted by Louisville, Oklahoma, South Carolina, St. Bonaventure, and Wyoming. The Bonnies are a huge step down in the conference he already coaches in, but what do you think bbgunn? Do any of the other schools sound enticing? Alex Donovan also got some offers, from Boston College, Ohio State, South Carolina, St. Bonaventure, and Wyoming. Again, I'd eliminate the Bonnies, but the other 4 would be fairly enticing, although none of them had a record to grin about. What do you think sirfozzie? Patrick Hutt received offers from Arizona State, Oklahoma, St. Bonaventure, and Wyoming. If it were up to me it'd be between ASU and Oklahoma, as both the Bonnies and Wyoming are a step down.
