Yeah. I'm not losing anyone big, and I'll get out from under the $12 million contract that Corona decided he didn't want to earn any more. Should be able to power up a bit.

But Baltimore's not losing talent any time soon, it looks like. I predict they'll have another year or three of excelling, which might take me out of my window.

Time will tell!

Another .500 season. I guess it was a mistake to stick with the same team. I really think the talent is here to be better than this. I need to figure out what's holding us back and get rid of it.

As it turns out, I was only a little off on my predictions (three games and one spot in the standings), but still disappointing. Just three games back of kaos for second. A rollercoaster season. Started bad, got good, fell back to average.

Congrats again to ekcut, who clearly has a phenomenal team over there. And maybe muns will work his magic this year. Congrats to muns, too.

Oh, I misread kaos's record. I was nowhere near second, just Alan in third. Wow, kaos had a nice year. Shame he's playing in the league with ekcut.

Yeah, well, my record would only have gotten me second in the RL, too.

Yeah, but you would have been playing RL teams! I mean, Alan and I are 3rd and 4th. Think about that. I know my team is good, and I suspect Alan's is, too.

Ha. It's all fun and games until you get your eye poked out.

So yeah, yuck it up you silly pitcher hitters.

ha ha ha.

All I have to say is, you all wouldn't last a day in the men's league. So enjoy "smallballs" where you all feel safe and secure.

Don't make me sim games between the 2nd and 3rd place teams in both leagues. It won't be pretty.

Well, it's kinda odd to respond to me, though, on that, right? After all, I dominated over there.

My game just popped up with a logo error during the download, although it still seems to be downloading just fine.

Correction, it just CTD. DC, something might be wrong with the upload.

The Bodycount (since 1964)

Among the owners left in the league with multiple pennants, here is the body count. I won't count my titles from 1961-1963, because I'm the only owner left from that time and it's not even fair since there were only 4-5 human owners in the league during those times.

Alan: 7 CL pennants, 4 titles
DC: 5 RL pennants, 2 titles
Chief: 5 RL pennants, 2 titles
ekcut: 2 CL pennants, 1 title (so far)
muns: 3 RL pennants, 1 title (so far)

If yours is like mine, yours will soon also crash. Glad to see it's not just me like that download issue I had this week.

Yeah, but you have been in the RL with human owners for 16 years. I left after the '73 season.

And besides, we can both dominate.

Oh. That might explain it.

I thought that Markus had said that the new patches were fully compatible.

Regardless, I was only staying behind for this league. Time to update!

Why pick an arbitrary number? You could go further back and get some of Alan's titles, couldn't you?

Well its nice to see I've completely dismantled a once proud, winning franchise into a team of consistent mediocrity.

No really

Wow. Looks like I must eat a small dose of crow. My bullpen was only 2nd in ERA. Valdosta beat me, 2.52 to 2.54. My starters were second to Baltimore's by, also, .02, but that's better than I thought they'd be.

That shouldn't be overly suprising. I couldn't do anything to get any decent pitching in free agency (There really wasn't much out there in my opinion).. So I did the next best thing and loaded up my bullpen as best as I could and modified my strategies a little bit to accommodate.

I haven't downloaded the file yet to see how things went, but I fully expect my downfall was the lack of a dominant starting pitching staff like I had for over a decade. I pretty much used duct tape there.

Might not save you much time if you're far along in your downloads, but if they're really dragging it could be faster.

Technically, 4 seasons ago, three Classics (the only way CL vs RL can match up, of course).

That said, why should it start when I join? Unless you think CL dominance began when I joined.

Nah, it's not like that. You just came in at a time when things were changing. The talent shift makes it harder to really reload like it used to be in the late 60s to lock and reload. The 80s will make it better, I think. Don't worry too much...it's just a natural evolution that you showed up in the midst of.

Your starters' ERA was 3.57.

Charles Wilson and Carlos Gonzalés were under 3. Whit O'Neal and Alonso Hernández over 4.

Team batting average was .259, second in the league.

My guess is they are more backwards compatible than forward compatible. (ie: if you need to run 9.2 for a league you are in, it still should work for a 9.1 league elsewhere)

I haven't tested that out though so might be wrong. I am guessing MrBug may find that out though due to his other league. (Of course mrbug may want to keep two sets of executables just so it doesn't break anything for him)

Not a download problem actually. It's the installation time. It has been steadily "installing files" now for at least 20 minutes.

Yep. Baltimore had .271. Everyone else was between .244 and .259, except Texas at .225.

In a few years, might be time to take a look at just going to the default modifiers or something. Using SkyDog's settings are cute and all, but I think as the players get worse, it's going to kill offensive production for good, especially in the CL. As if it hasn't already...going to modern baseball settings, would probably be sensible.

But we're changing enough as it is, so I'd say we shelve that talk for later. Just wanted to put that out there.

Hartford had a 2.79 ERA in the sissypitcher league. That's damn impressive. The second best was Chicago with 3.51.

I was impressed with my team. We had no business being able to hang with them, really. I was DESPERATE to get offense and to produce runs and we did that. I'm so, so happy with that. I didn't ever expect us to catch Hartford, but we played admirably and that was...well, cool to me.

it will be interesting to see how this next wave of talent emerges in this league. Right now it feels very hitter heavy and pitcher light. That in itself might cause a hitting surge in a couple of years as they become major league ready and all of the Carlos Gonzales's of the world retire.

Both leagues had record low league ERAs this year. It was the second worst year on record for CL's batting average. (#5 for the RL.)

Agreed. It'll be great when the star pitchers go away, because it'll make second-tier pitching elite.
