I would be so thankful if the Chargers lose again and Norv gets fired.

Tebow vs Rivers. They both are very religious. Not sure who's going to win this one. I say it ends in a tie 21-21. Of course, I could be way off, but, with Rivers apparently being coached during the lockout by Jamarcus Russel, Norv Turner not being able to manage a clock, despite rather large clocks all around him in the stadium, this could also end up being a complete blow out.

You want to pick a winner? I'll go with this: Since both teams colors don't really clash, I say the home team wins.

I've banging this drum for years... It was only a matter of time before the Lions got good and people would be happy to see them on Thanksgiving Day as is the rightful tradition.

Granted, "only a matter of time" was about a decade or so, but hopefully we will all be rewarded for our patience.

That said, if the Lions try to go with their "rope a dope" strategy and spot Green Bay a 17 or 21 point lead in the first half, we could all be in for another painfully dull afternoon.

The Lions haven't won on Thanksgiving since 2003.

They got smoked by Indy in 2004. Falcons smacked them around in 2005. Green Bay beat them a few times in there. A Joey Harrington led Dolphins team trounced them. The Titans absolutely obliderated them. The Patroits ran away with the game last year in the second half.

Let's hope the Lions reverse this trend.

That is classic. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing the complete lack of head coaching skills that Turner possesses. Besides the fact that the Chargers come out to start a game looking completely flat like they have not had practice in months and then can only muster 17 points against the Chiefs defense when they just put up 38 against the Packers. The only consistency with the team, is its inconsistency.

Oh and then there's the, beyond ridiculous, delay of game and false start penalties they get. NORV!!!! YOU'RE CALLING THE PLAYS!!! WHY CAN YOU NOT GET A PLAY OFF IN 40 SECONDS OR LESS?????

Then we come to AJ Smith (no relation). Mr. "I Refuse To Pick Up Free Agents". John Butler you are not, sir. Lord of No Rings is quite fitting for someone that looks like he was an extra in the movie Casino. Who Dat? You ask? Why that's Drew Brees, the Super Bowl Champion/Pro Bowl quarterback you let walk out the door. AJ, you let the wrong Turner go. You should have kept Michael Turner.

The Chargers need to make Gruden an offer he can't refuse (Yes, I know he signed a contract recently with ESPN). This team needs a motivator, not a pacifier.

As much as I DON'T want the Bears to pick him up, the entertainment value in a Orton vs Tebow game in a couple weeks cannot be ignored.

You get some pretty funny/stupid results with some of the rankings. If you pick to predict based on defensive rank, the results are so messed up. I know, I know, what should I expect... but it still made me laugh to think about that being a possible playoff scenario being presented.

If youre St.Louis, why not grab him? Isn't Josh McDaniels there? Maybe extend Orton for a couple seasons, give Bradford a year to get his shit together after struggling so hard this season, then flip Orton for a 4th rounder or something before turning the reins of an improved team over to Bradford for his 4th season.

I don't think benching Bradford for a year would be the best personnel decision. Ownership would have to be ok with their number 1 pick sitting, you'd have to convince Bradford, and I doubt the fans would be too happy with the move.

I don't see why Bradford wouldn't demand a trade if that were to happen.

You realize that this is like one of the truth idioms of all sports, right? I mean, like, the Yankees have a lot of money. Michael Jordan was the best basketball player ever. Wayne Gretzky was the best hockey player ever. Red Sox fans suck.

These are all truths that are well known and accepted by all fans.

The basic truth "Norv Turner is an awful head coach" is one of the most oft-discussed, "everyone is head-nodding" agreement truths of the past 20 years.

Actually, and no kidding here, other than some people on this board and a few people I know, I don't really hear it that often. But, it is actually the first time I've read it from someone that reports on the NFL/Chargers. I guess my post could use one of these then:

Up where you're at, it should be a known fact, given his time with the Raiders. It is also well known in Washington. There might be some deluded fools in Dallas, but besides Norv's family and Troy Aikman, I don't think anyone else is "buying" on Norv Turner's HC skills. And I think even Aikman's just saying good stuff to be nice.

I think maybe why I haven't heard much here, is possibly because of his short tenure as head coach of the Raiders. When they talk about him up here, it always seems to be when he was the O-coordinator for the 49ers and Alex Smith.

Well I can see why Aikman does that and I hear that Norv is a heck of a nice guy.

Oh I absolutely agree with you. Just look at that last possession the Chargers had against the Jets a few weeks ago. That's 100% coaching...or I should say, lack of coaching. His first season in San Diego when he took over, the Chargers were winning despite him, not because of him. Since AJ Smith refuses to replenish the team with free agents, everything is now catching up to Norv and his deficiencies as a head coach.

They should grab Orton, immediately demote Bradford, then trade Bradford for Tebow in the offseason so Tebow and McDaniels can reunite.

In the most SHOCKING moment in NFL history (although I'm prone to exaggeration), the Kansas City Chiefs have claimed Kyle Orton. Other teams that placed a claim are Dallas and Chicago.

ESPN is still writing stories about how perfect it would be for Orton to return to the Bears.

True but the influence of Tebowism would expand into the greater St. Louis metro area, thus creating a calming effect on the entire midwest.

Helps Rodgers passing rating when every incompletion seems to get offset by a bad pass interference call.

If Williams played for the Lions that near interception would have been an easy pass interference call.

So much for the offensive showcase many were expecting.

Dare I say that while both teams have been earning stupid penalties, the refs appear to have the Lions on a slightly tighter leash than the Packers.
