Not sure I've ever seen a group of players make a worse decision than this group of Mets.

It's poor judgment on an epic scale.

Then again, judgment hasn't been the hallmark for pro athletes since ... well, ever?

Mets fans have put up with an epic amount of crap, I know I have been one since 1985. That nonsense just doesn't help. We all know you are trying, don't give the fans shit because they aren't always happy, we have been dealing with this franchise since before you were born.

David Wright would never do that. I hoe Ron and Keith take them to task

There should always be some measure of respect for being a Mets fan. Every Mets fan could have easily been a Yankees fan but they choose to pick the harder route

This might be the best part.

Prior to his arrest, Scott had been at the home of Mets owner Steve Cohen for a team fundraiser at which players were also in attendance, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

How fucking drunk did you have to be to be passed out and unable to pass a field sobriety test seven hours after the event?

Wouldn't that question assume you stopped drinking when you left the event tho? Given the amount of time that elapsed I kinda doubt he went straight home afterwards.

Good point.

Regardless, he had to be way too drunk to drive.

Just saw video of an intentional balk in extra innings, up 2 runs, to force the runner on 2B to 3B to alleviate any sign stealing and allow the pitcher to throw from a wind-up. Just as Abner Doubleday intended.

I hadn't heard the term, "little league grand slam", but this play fits. And I believe all my lifetimes home runs were "little league home runs."

Pujols playing in probably his last game at Busch Stadium receives a standing ovation and then he hits a HR.

The quintessential LL HR is the bunt thrown down the RF line.

It boggles my mind that the Cardinals didn’t try to keep Kolten Wong. The guy just does everything right.

Yeah, I agree. He was really coming on his last season with the Cards. But they had Arrenado on the radar and needed a spot for Edman, then DeJong went into the tank which was not expected.

Edman could have played SS and Wong at 2B.

But, baseball.

That's been very evident in this game. I can't believe how bad Gleyber Torres looks now. 2 years ago he looked like a future MVP candidate.

I googled the phrase "what happened to Gleybar Torres?".

It returned 4 different articles since July looking at his struggles.

Maybe the ball wasn't the only thing juiced in 2019 is the only possibility those didn't seem to cover.

Some idiot fan just ran onto the field during the Mets/Yankees game. To do that in NYC on 9/11 is beyond inexcusable. I don't know what the max penalty is for that but I hope whatever it is they give it to him.

Castellini continues to destroy the Reds. Kyle Boddy and Driveline are out and presumably moving on to some other MLB franchise.

Mookie Betts getting TJ Friedl's first MLB hit/HR from the fan and then giving the fan a signed bat was a class act.

From Buster Olney, the Orioles don't have a dime of payroll committed past this year.

Their Arb estimates are interesting.

Only 4 players arb-eligible next year, estimated $36.8m
In 2023, there's 22 arb-eligible players, estimated $136.7m

That's a helluva jump

The Pirates also have no guaranteed contracts past this year (aside convicted sex predator Felipe Vazquez's buyout - which will be nullified):

Pittsburgh Pirates Salaries and Contracts | Baseball-Reference.com

One of the more interesting phenomena of this season's Pirates is that they are giving innings to veteran FAs-to-be Shelby Miller (who has been alright) and 1B Yoshi Tsutsugo (who has been very good). Only the Pirates would take flyers on guys that absolutely will not resign with them if they turn it around.

That's very a very Mets record.

To be fair, the Mets didn't have that high of a record when they were in 1st. The NL East just isn't that good. The Braves lead the division with a record of 83-72
