I work in the suburb where these shootings happened. We're all on the lookout for the suspect.

Got to love the logic if this is the same person. That damn $%&* Kaepernick doesn't respect the police or the armed forces. I'm so mad I will go murder a couple of police officers.

Yeah I guess the only thing would make any sense would be if they were black police officers who threw him out of the game. I'm clearly not supporting this warped view of the world in any way just trying to piece together what the heck he is even talking about. Maybe that's my mistake anyways giving this moron a second thought.

Not much to figure out other than that the guy clearly has mental problems. I'm sure we'll get to hear his side of the story once he gets taken into custody alive.

Still time to edit that to - "they captured him alive, but just that makes them racist because if he was black they would have killed him".

"Mental problems" sure, but let's not be so quick to write off racist assholery as "well, he's just crazy."

Local coverage does a better job of explaining the flag/football game incident.

Iowa police shootings: Confederate flag incident at stadium under scrutiny

It's from earlier this month, appears to be entirely separate from his previous arrest(s) in 2014.

I dont find that logic terribly different than 'Cops are racist so I will not stand for a show of respect to our County.'

I don't support either person's idiocy, to be 100% clear, I just find an interesting parallel between Kap's logical fallacy and the shooters. Yet you only see his.

He has been warned and given a short suspension. Time for a longer one. (Will figure out how long first one was later.)

It's also a false equivalency.

I will exercise a right granted me in the Constitution as a form of civil protest in no way equates to I am mad because of a position someone else has taken and will kill someone.

Even if you disagree with the starting point of either person, the actions taken separate these two by light years.

This is a really terrible day for those officers' families as well as those who work with them. May the officers rest in peace and may the families gain some solace from the love and honors that will be bestowed on them.

I do not, am not and never have condoned the killing or even the lashing out towards the officers.

For the false equivalency you are extending my statement to what you thought I meant.

And upon a closer re-reading of my post and the one I quoted that is my mistake. I see where you drew that from, though it was never my intention.

My intention stopped at, "CK has an issue with the treatment of minorities by LEO, so he protests the flag. Iowa idiot doesnt respect CK so he "protests" innocent LEOs"

I apologize that I made that point very poorly and in haste.

I still see both as misguided.

It is not however a strawman. In Ck's own words:

Quote:
"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

CK stated that he opposed a racist country, but then repeatedly used LEO discrimination as his examples of the racist country.

I think strawman is the perfect characterization for what CK did.
