FOFC Sprint Cup Series - Season 1 - Final Race Posted - Season 1 Champion Crowned

Welcome to the very first season of the NEW FOFC Sprint Cup Series. This season we will have 20 races in total. After the first 15 are complete, the top 10 drivers in points will be entered into the Chase. Also, two wildcard spots for drivers with the most wins of any drivers outside of the top ten will be awarded giving us 12 drivers in the Chase for the final 5 races. The points are reset for the final races. Every driver starts with a base of 0 and then bonus points are given for the position the driver is in after the 15th race.

1st - 50
2nd - 45
3rd - 40
4th - 35
5th - 30
6th - 25
7th - 20
8th - 15
9th - 10
10th - 5
Wildcard 1 - 0
Wildcard 2 - 0

Each driver will then get 5 more bonus points for each win they have. (Wild cards will not get bonus points for their wins. They will start at 0.

Trick Dickle was the fastest in practice, but finished a disappointing 31st in qualifying for the Daytona 500. When asked the reason for his disappointing performance during qualifying, he winced slightly and then ran for the nearest bathroom...

Race #1 of 20 - Daytona 500 Results

The two dominant cars for the last half of the race were the two who ended up battling it down to the checkered flag. Benton Gale held off a strong challenge from Kyle Kappe down the stretch to take the win in the Daytona 500.

The race only featured 3 cautions, but those cautions knocked a lot of top cars from contention. Ace Idol had the strongest car early on but was caught back in the pack before a wreck and suffered some damage, knocking him a lap down and out of contention. David Gonzalez, Alejandro Murrieta, Kerri Kong and Aemon Snow were all knocked out in a lap 32 crash. Chris Snow's day ended early with a broken valve, Trick Dickle was knocked out with a fuel leak and Dan Schoonover was knocked out in a wreck on lap 135.

A terrific day for Dumbo Racing as our two rookie drivers put their talents to good use. First, Nick Harold had a big day moving from 29'th to a 16'th place finish and even found his way to the lead for one lap. Cash Bradley, starting out of the 11 spot, fought his way to a top 5 finish, leading 7 laps, and scoring 160 points in the Chase.

Well at least we know Topaw racing can qualify well, now we just have to finish

Surprised that first wreck didn't take more people out as tight as the pack was. Good season opening race.

Disappointing finish after leading 29 laps for Kevin Kong, but still better than getting caught up in a wreck like teammate Kerri.

A mixed day for Ninth Circle Holdings.

Helen Wheels accomplished her usual pattern of mediocre qualifying, a great race day, and a bad last lap. She lost 3 positions after the white flag flew to finish in 7th, but still gained 26 positions on her qualifying spot.

Rip Lickingood's #07 Vanilla Coke Chevy was caught in one of the day's cautions, but rode out the damage to a mid-table finish.

New drivers can still get into the series. You would be able to start at race #3. I have actually already run the 2nd race, trying to get a few ahead so I will be able to post them on fairly regular schedule.

Any new drivers would still have a shot at making the chase due to the wildcard spots.

It was a mediocre day for Cannon Pace and #5 car. He's not much of a super speedway driver so for him to stay mid pack was about all we could hope for the at CMP Racing. Hopefully he will be able to break out at when we get to tracks better suited to his skills.

Dixieland finishes with 2 running cars in the middle of the pack. Fantastic editing there cmp! Looks great! We'll take the finishes and the points. The General Lee was almost knocked out of the race by 2 of those crashes, so to finish at all was a plus.

PF Racing had a so-so day...Elliot Foley had some changes made to his car after a weak practice and I thought Andrew Foley would be the better of the two to start. Not so, as Elliot finishes with a top 10 and Andrew finishes 7 laps back in 25th. Still early in the year, but I'd rather see them both in the middle of the pack than at opposite ends like that.

Avery Thomas was tied up in one of the wrecks and ended up dropping way back.

Looks like the ToPaw Racing team will have to pick it up here.

Team Phillips is very pleased with their showing in the Daytona 500. Phillips and Henderson are not super-speedway drivers and anything in the top half of the field is good. They should both look better in the 1.5 mile races.

3rd and 19. Interesting. My past history has shown that good qualifying results don't necessarily translate into good race results. In either case, the good 'ol boys are here to race.

Race #2 of 20 - Samsung Mobile 500

Trick Dickle and Kevin Kong completed dominated the race this afternoon as the two nearly lapped the entire field, leaving only 6 cars on the lead lap at the end. It was Kevin who led the most laps but it was Trick who took the lead and then held off a challenge from Kevin on the final lap to take the win. Mustafa Henderson was 3rd, David Ginsberg 4th and Bo Duke finished 5th.

The race was unusual in the fact that there were no cautions. That allowed Trick and Kevin to continue to increase their lead the entire race.

Teammate - Kerri Kong is not going so well.

Dixieland had a good day. Bo finishes 5th and Luke was having a great run until the car quit on him. We could have easily had 2 top 10 finishes there. We will take that!

FOFC Sprint Cup Series - Season 1 - Race #3 Richmond

Luke Duke took the pole and dominated the early running of the Richmond 400 before getting into a pit road accident while he was the leader. He later on would get collected in another wreck and despite leading for most of the first half of the race he would finish 29th. David Gonzalez took advantage of Luke's troubles and dominated the final half of the race leading 194 laps en route to an easy win. Ace Idol, Dan Schoonover, Andrew Foley and Chris Snow rounded out the top 5.

Whoops- missed the start of the season.

The 4th at Daytona was a really nice finish and a middle of the pack at Texas to go into 2nd overall was very cool. Unfortunately, Richmond was not so kind and Silvers is back down to 8th. Still, it's in the Chase if the season ended today but there's a long way to go.
