1987 FOOL Playoff Thread

Playoffs run tonight at 11pm ET

Brooklyn vs Atlanta

Colorado vs Hartford

Just a reminder, playoff teams can send a PM before the sim begins with minor conditional changes to make for your team before the FOOL Classic if you happen to make it.

I almost asked "Who's ready to see Hartford go down" but then I didn't want everyone to flood the thread with a bunch of "me" posts.

Getting no file from: Ann Arbor, Boston, Rio Grande

Getting wrong game version of file from: Columbus, San Diego, St. Louis and Toronto. For these teams it refuses to let me load the file I am afraid.

Yeah, I have spent the last 10 minutes or so trying to figure out a way around this. I find if I then get another system with the patch, I can import their files, but then it means the league file will be that version.

Since we have always said that we won't upgrade mid-season I can't find anything that works for those files.

Odd the patches usually work that way.

Here is a suggestion, download the patch only update to run and get their files. Then after getting their files maybe you can replace the updated exe with the old version one again.

This one is different because there are fundamental changes to how the FTP logon information for the league files are handled.

Off topic here, but did we ever get a report as to whether this last patch fixed our contact problem?

I was trying that, but kept having issues loading the league file with when I went back to the old executable. Trying a few other things here real quick.

No.. their support completely stopped responding to anything. I am pretty sure it did not fix the problem, and from what I can tell they don't care about fixing it.

Yeah, it won't even let me get back into it as the commish on 9.2.2 once it has been in the 9.2.11 version

I see that my version was wrong. It should be the pre-patched file. Is there a problem? I've patched since.

So technically, I should run the sim under 9.2.2 and the people who uploaded using the new version would just be out of luck.

Since I am a nice guy, and there are no game play changes in the new patch (it is all UI and other type of changes), it won't effect how the games are played out if I sim the playoffs with 9.2.11.

So I am going to make an executive decision to just sim from here on with 9.2.11 and if we encounter any of the various bugs that people have been complaining about with the new patch, you all can yell at the people who upgraded before we were ready to.

Actually, looks like I have already encountered a bug. After upgrading, I can't even log in with the commish password anymore. Sweet, my evening is rapidly turning to sucky!

That sucks, so are you just going to have those that uploaded with 9.2.11 be SOL then unless they can get it in before you go back to the old file?

What we did in another league is this:

1) delete all .dat files from league folder

2) patch game

3) download bones (minimal league file)

Then our passwords worked.

The only problem is I fear doing that will mean those who uploaded with the correct old version would get messed up. If I have to deal with only some people's exports working, i'll have to let theirs work since those are the playoff teams, there are more exports on the old version as well.

I am still playing with it some, I'll see if there is a way I can do some of this to get it to work without eating up those files

It doesn't bother me at all if I need to redo things. The important thing is that the playoff guys run OK. Maybe delay the start of next season until resolved, but the playoffs should run on whatever version they're on.

Ok, I got into the file.. Need to spend a little bit to make sure that everything looks kosher.

I think I have all owners exports now, and able to run this on the old 9.2..2 version

Dacubz,

can you say a move or some transaction you did so I can verify that it actually took your import the way I did this?

I can't see anything "broken" with the file, and I think I have all owners files now (including owners who exported with both versions).

The sim will be run on 9.2.2 and the file will be uploaded as 9.2.2. This will be the last sim on 9.2.2 however. We will switch to 9.2.11 Monday night unless there is some reason not to do so.

CLCS game 1

W. Steward (BKN) vs T. Qian (ATL)

Atlanta scores in 4 of the first 5 innings to jump to an early lead. Despite a mid-game attempt at a come back, Brooklyn is unable to catch back up. Atlanta ends up winning thanks in part to E. Morgan whom went 3-5 with 2 doubles, 1 run and 3 Runs batted in.

Atlanta wins 7-4

RLCS Game 1

M. Sanu (COL) vs B. Smith (HAR)

Sanu was amazing during the regular season, and he continues it here in game one. He pitched a complete game 5 hitter, giving up 0 walks and striking out 6. Colorado easily roll B. Smith and the Harpooners.

Colorado wins 8-0

CLCS game 2

J. Martinez (BKN) vs B. Clarke (ATL)

Brooklyn jumps to the early 3-1 lead, then adding a 4th run in the top of the 8th. Atlanta equalizes things in the bottom of the 8th however on a McKay 3-run homer! Neither team score in the 9th, sending the game to extra innings. Finally in the bottom of the 12th with Reyes pitching for Brooklyn, Harmon, Gonzalez and Romero hit singles to score the winning run.

Atlanta wins 5-4 (12 innings)

Atlanta leads the series 2 games to 0

RLCS game 2

J. Gomez (COL) vs J. Aquino (HAR)

Colorado starts off the scoring again this game with a run in the top of the 5th, but Hartford gets the first three runs of the series in the bottom of the same inning on three straight doubles by Gutierrez, Holcombe and McGill, followed by a Zhao single. Colorado ties up the game with two runs in the 8th, and this one also heads to extra innings.

In the top of the 12th, Gutierrez strikes for the Rancheros with a solo home run. The Harpooners were unable to respond in the bottom of the inning, to allow Colorado take the second straight game of this series.

Colorado wins 4-3 (12 innings)

Colorado leads the series 2 games to 0

CLCS game 3

E. Duffy (ATL) vs G. Hernandez (BKN)

The game enters the seventh inning tied 3-3 when E. Morgan hits an RBI single to score Cutileiro from third. That ends up being the winning run as Martland shuts things down for the save.

Atlanta wins 4-3

Atlanta leads the series 3-0

RLCS game 3

D. Robinson (HAR) vs J. Mitchell (COL)

This game was never close as Hartford scores 8 runs before Colorado finally gets on the board with 3 mercy runs in the bottom of the 9th inning. Hartford continues the trend of only the road team winning so far this year in the RLCS.

Hartford wins 8-3

Colorado leads the series 2 games to 1

CLCS game 4:

In a suprising move, Brooklyn brings back game one starter W. Steward on short rest to pitch again in game four. With their season on the line, they will be counting on him to try to win this one. Atlanta counters with H. van Geel pitching for them.

Steward does not let Brooklyn down as he pitches a great game, allowing only 5 hits and three walks while striking out 8. Unfortunately he gave up the game's only run. van Geel was even better fro Atlanta, pitching a complete game 3-hitter.

Atlanta wins 1-0

Atlanta has won the 1987 Continental League Championship Series!

RLCS game 4:

T. Shaw (HAR) vs D. Long (COL)

Colorado is eager to break the trend of only road teams winning. They get 2 in the 2nd and 1 in the 6th to go up 3-1. Hartford answers with one in the 7th, but that is all they manage to get back

Colorado wins 3-2

Colorado leads the series 3 games to 1.

RLCS game 5:

Colorado: M. Sanu (1-0 0.00 ERA this postseason)

vs

Hartford: B. Smith (0-1 7.71 ERA this postseason)

This game features the winningest pitcher of the last several seasons vs this year's winningest pitcher.

Both pitchers continue their pitching performances from game one today. Sanu was not quite as remarkable as he was in game one, but he still pitches a complete game and only gives up 1 earned run. Smith is unable to get anyone out and Colorado jumps out to an early 5-1 lead by the end of the second. Colorado continues on rolling to win the game and the series.

Colorado wins 7-1

Colorado wins the 1987 Republic League Championship Series!

The 1987 FOOL Classic will be Colorado (105-49) vs Atlanta (95-59)

As was the case in the past, since Colorado was not the regular season league champion, Atlanta will have home field advantage this series despite having 10 less wins during the year.

Game 1 of the FOOL Classic:

Colorado: M. Sanu (2-0 0.50 ERA this postseason)

vs

Atlanta: T. Qian (1-0 4.50 ERA this postseason)

In what was highly anticipated to be a pitcher's duel ended up being a one sided affair. Atlanta helps prove that Sanu is indeed human as they torch Colorado for 8 runs and 13 hits. S. Brock (ATL) goes 2 for 2 with 3 walks and 2 home runs in leading Atlanta to the win.

Atlanta wins 8-4

FOOL CLassic Game 2:

Gomez (COL) vs Berui (ATL)

Game two is much more back and forth as the lead changes 4 times in this one. Colorado enters the top of the 9th down 5-3.

Villarreal flys out to start the inning, but then the pinch hitting LeBlanc grounds a single through the hole at second. Yee moves him over to second with a ground out, but that leaves a runner on second with the tying run coming up to the plate but two outs...
