CLCS Game 1:

Edwin English pitches for Tokyo vs Manny Villa for Baltimore

Tokyo scores first and last, but Baltimore scores 4 in the middle thanks in part to a Cong Che 3-run homer and Baltimore wins despite being outhit by Tokyo.

Villa pitches 8 innings and gives up 10 hits but only 2 runs in the win.

Baltimore 4, Tokyo 2

RLCS Game 1:

Renaud Lemieux pitches for Hartford vs Naofumi Ueda for Colorado

Hartford scores first on a RBI single from Nigel Hewson in the top of the 7th inning to break the scoreless tie. Paul O'Bryan responds immediately in the bottom of the inning with a pinch hit RBI double that ties the game back up at 1.

Neither team scores in the 8th, so entering the 9th, we are still tied up 1-1. Hartford gets their first base runner in the 9th thanks to Couarde being hit by a pitch from Luis Rivera. Couarde tries to make something happen and he steals 2nd base. He then pushes too far and gets thrown out on an attempt to steal third base for the second out of the inning....

Feliz, the pinch hitter fouls off four straight 2-2 pitches before getting a walk, followed by a walk to Kui and Munoz being hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs! If only Couarde had not been thrown out attempting to steal, that would have been a run!

Hewson, up next grounds out to second base to end the top half of the inning leaving the bases loaded!

In the bottom of the 9th, Polanco comes in to pitch for Hartford. He gets an out before giving up a double to Hernandez and then intentionally walking Griffith.

Salas misses two bunt attempts before just grounding into a 1-6 ground out that advances the runner to third.. Two outs now though for Arturo Vega who steps to the plate... He stands in there... a BALK! What a horrible ending for Hartford.. that brings in Hernandez to score and Colorado wins thanks to a game-ending Balk in the bottom of the 9th!

Colorado 2, Hartford 1

The Draft pool is revealed.. I hope people need Centerfielders..seems like several good ones this draft.

Overall this looks like a draft that I think most people will like.

CLCS Game 2:

Roberto Ruiz pitches for Tokyo vs Byron Blankenship for Baltimore

Ruiz is pitching well in this one, only giving up 1 hit and having thrown only 36 pitches through 3 innings before a huge storm comes in and delays the game... 70 minutes later the game is started up again. Both managers decide to go to the bullpen.

The Tokyo bullpen picks up right when Ruiz left off however as Guerrero, Davis and Oliver combine for 6 innings of 2-hit ball and Tokyo shuts out Baltimore!

Canales hits 2 for 3 with a solo home run as well in the game for Tokyo.

Tokyo 5, Baltimore 0

The CLCS is tied up 1 game each!

historically we have had some bad endings to some of the playoff games. I won a ring due to a guy throwing to first, or a force out at second (something like that I cant remember) instead of throwing home to try to get the out there and prevent the game from ending. Just some odd stuff.

Sure, its fine.. except we are playing Baseball, not Football! (look at your PM subject line)

If anyone is wondering, he wanted to use his kicker as punter also.

Yep, you beat me once because my second baseman decided to throw to first for the out instead of home on a ground ball in the bottom of the 9th in game 9 of the FOOL Classic

RLCS Game 2:

Mack Waddell pitches for Hartford vs Joe Durham for Colorado

Hartford evidently does not want to leave things up to the pitcher in this one and they bring out the whipping sticks. The Harpooners score 12 runs on 10 hits and steamroll the Rancheros.

Tex Jones goes 2 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI, Heredia goes 2 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI and Elian Felix goes 1 for 1 with a PINCH HIT GRAND SLAM HOME RUN in the top of the 8th!

Hartford 12, Colorado 4

The RLCS is tied up 1-1

that was such a crock of shit..... I remember now. What made that even worse was that I was down 4-0 and then won 4 straight and thats how the damn thing ended.

CLCS Game 3:

The first postseason game in FOOL history played in Asia!

Armando Sanchez pitches for Baltimore vs Jorge Martinez for Tokyo

Martinez is no stranger to postseason ball as he has two FOOL Championship rings from his days with Napa Valley. He shows off his veteran leadership and pitches decently in this one, pitching a complete game, allowing only 3 runs on 7 hits.

Sanchez one-ups him however as he also goes the complete game, allowing only 5 hits and not a single run to score.

The only home run of the game is from Lujan who went 3 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI in the win for Baltimore.

Baltimore 3, Tokyo 0

Baltimore leads the CLCS 2 games to 1.

Dean Houston would just stand on the mound, and the batters would just get up there, swing three times without any pitches, and sit back down.

So now that we know the Baltimore Charm won the first ever FOOL postseason game in Asia in league history, a quick trivia question...

Without looking, can anyone guess who won the first FOOL postseason game in Europe and what year? Who won the first FOOL postseason game in Canada and what year?

Friday, October 3rd, 2031: Razor-Sharp Sánchez Blanks Tokyo

This is like one of those impossible Aflac questions during MLB games.

RLCS game 3:

Isoruko Ohayashi pitches for Colorado vs Douggie Goff for Hartford

Colorado jumps out to the early lead with a RBI single from Chen and a Ruiz run scored on a wild pitch as the Rancheros go up 2-0 in the first. Colorado tacks on two more in the 3rd with back to back solo home runs from Santana and Ruiz and they run the lead up 4-0 after 2 1/2 innings.

Hartford claws back with 1 in the bottom of the 3rd, two more in the bottom of the 7th and finally tie up the game in the bottom of the 8th on a RBI double from Tex jones.

Tied up 4-4 entering the 9th, Colorado gets a 1-out double from Britt Morris, who promptly gets thrown out trying to steal third base right before Vega hits a double of his own. When Gentry grounds out to end the inning, the Rancheros realize they just wasted a run there!

That run does not come back to haunt them (yet) in the bottom of the 9th as Hartford does not get a single base runner and we are heading to extra innings!

The 10th passes without any runs scoring. In the top of the 11th, Colorado gets a single from Hernandez but is not able to score. Hartford gets a 1-out double from Kui in the bottom of the inning, followed by Munoz being hit by a pitch. Hewson then reaches base safely on an infield single to load up the bases with only one out for slugger Brian Prebble!

So how does this end? a strikeout? a grand slam? .... No a wild pitch from reliever Manny Martinez that allows Kui to just jog in safely and the Harpooners win!

Hartford 5, Colorado 4 (11 innings)

Hartford leads the RLCS 2 games to 1.

I'll give partial credit to both of you.

The Toronto Osprey won the first FOOL playoff game in Canada back in 1975.
The Hammersmith Hooligans won the first FOOL playoff game in Europe in 2017.

In both cases, Toronto and Hammersmith lost the series however (Chicago Thunderstorms won the FOOL Championship in 1975 and Ann Arbor Winged Ligerines beat Hammersmith in 2017 on their way to a FOOL Championship over... .the same Baltimore Charm who won the first FOOL postseason game in Asia!

So if that holds to form, does that mean Tokyo will be this year's FOOL Champion?

Stay tuned to find out!

CLCS game 4:

Julian Diaz pitches for Baltimore
vs
Edwin English for Tokyo (0-1 2.25 ERA this postseason)

Baltimore scores 4 in the first, on a solo homer from Velona and 3-run shot from Che to take the early lead. They add one in both the 2nd and 3rd innings and run away with this one, leading 9-0 before TOkyo scores for the first time.

Che ends up hitting 3 for 4 with two Home runs and 4 RBI for Baltimore, Keyte also chipped in, going 1 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI in the win.

Gathee hit 2 for 3 with a HR and 3 RBI in the loss for the Cyclones.

Baltimore 9, TOkyo 4

Baltimore leads the series 3 games to 1.

RLCS game 4:

John Cleveland pitches for Colorado (I can't wait till Cleveland pitches to Tex in this one!)
vs
Dan Richards for Hartford

Hartford scores first with a RBI single from Ward, but Colorado scores 1 in the third and 5th innings to take the lead, followed by four runs in the 7th, including a 3-run HR from Santana to give them a 6-1 lead!

Hartford gets a Ward 3-run HR from Ward in the bottom of the 9th to pull within a 2 run game before a single out. Jones and Kui both get on base after that, but Colorado gets out of the mess to hold on to the win barely.

Colorado 6, Hartford 4

The RLCS is tied 2 games each.

I actually thought id get the Canada one wrong. I thought for sure with as much as NY has won it would have been them. Good job Chief!

Well, but remember, there is only one FOOL team based in Europe. Seems a natural guess to go with the Hooligans. You have a 50% shot, most likely, maybe better if it's a team where I actually have a home field advantage, unlike the past few seasons.

CLCS Game 5

Manny Villa pitches for Baltimore (1-0 2.25 ERA this postseason)
vs
Roberto Ruiz for Tokyo (0-0 0.00 ERA this postseason)

Baltimore scores first on a sacrifice fly from Che in the first, but Tokyo responds with 3 in the bottom of the inning. Baltimore ties it up in the third on a RBI single from Keyte and RBI double from Lujan.

That remains the score until the 5th when Baltimore jumps back into the lead on a Keyte RBI double, Lujan RBi single and Cook sacrifice fly, giving the Charm a 6-3 lead! Another run in the top of the 6th for Baltimore gives them an insurance run and a 4 run lead.

Tokyo, having to win this game to avoid elimination gets one back in the bottom of the 7th to cut it to a 7-4 deficit and then another in the 8th to get within 2, but a Velona pinch hit solo-home run in the top of the 9th for Baltimore seemingly puts the game away.

Gareth Dempster comes in to pitch in the bottom of the 9th for Baltimore. He proceeds to walk Juteau to lead off the inning, but no harm, no foul as Ackerman follows by hitting into a double play.

With two outs, Rush hits a single, then Thompson hits a single... Brito is then hit by a pitch to load the bases with 2 outs for Matthew Blatherwick.

Blatherwick fouls off the first pitch... then takes two straight balls.

The 2-1 pitch....

swung on....

hit towards right field.... is it deep enough? it will be close....

going...

going...

going....

The Right fielder jumps at the wall......

and he can't get it GRAND SLAM Walk off Home Run for Matthew Blatherwick!

The Tokyo Cyclones stay alive for another day!

Tokyo 9, Baltimore 8

Baltimore still leads the series 3 games to 2.

See Republic League.. that is how you end a game.. not with a Balk.. not with a Wild Pitch...

You all could learn something from the CL!
