Hitting Streak that carried over from the previous season:

Saturday, April 3rd, 2032: Heroes Chill Santos's Hot Streak
The Rebels lost to New York today by the score of 2-1 at Rebels Ballpark, but the bigger story was the end of a hit streak. Chico left fielder Ramón Santos was working on a 21-game hitting streak, but went 0-for-4 against the Heroes as the hot stretch came to an end.

Thursday, April 22nd, 2032: Lemieux Mows Down 16 Hooligans
It was a 16-K day for Hartford pitcher Renaud Lemieux at Ballpark of Hammersmith today. He really put on a show in beating the Hammersmith Hooligans 10-2. Lemieux has his good stuff and good location and that was good enough to chalk up a Harpooners victory. He gave up 6 hits in the game and issued 2 walks in a strong performance.

In 5 starts this season Lemieux has registered a 4-1 record and a 2.84 ERA.

"I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

Saturday, May 1st, 2032: RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Tex Jones earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Hartford catcher might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Jones hit .337 with 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Saturday, May 1st, 2032: Continental League Names Rookie of Month

In April he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

Tuesday, May 25th, 2032: Baltimore Whitewashed by Samuel
In an impressive outing, Amaru Samuel whitewashed the Baltimore Charm 11-0.

"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Samuel, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.

"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."

The Boston hurler held Baltimore scoreless, allowed 1 hit, chalked up 7 strikeouts and yielded 2 walks.

Checking out his stats for the season, Samuel has racked up 7 wins and 2 losses in 11 starts, 4.52 ERA and struck out 59 batters in 71.2 innings.

Dinnerplate is Ivan Ruiz. I remember him when he hit the draft pool forever ago.. I assumed it meant he never met a dinner or a pitch that he didn't like

Tuesday, June 8th, 2032: Hit Parade: Santos Gets Cycle
"How sweet it is, when the good part of the bat makes contact with the baseball." That's how Ramón Santos, the Chico left fielder, described what happened in today's 9-5 victory over the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines -- hitting for the cycle. In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that exact order is known as a "natural cycle," something that almost never occurs.

"I heard that sound every time I hit the ball -- it really was a special game for me." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Ann Arbor pitching for 4 hits in 5 at-bats and his name will now go into the record book. Santos also racked up 2 RBI and 2 runs scored in the game.

R. Santos hit an RBI triple in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off E. Varquera in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

To date Santos has chalked up a .306 average with 10 home runs, driven in 45 runs and scored 34 times.

We are at the all star break! Not a ton of people around tonight, but if anyone wants a mid-season update on a player, post it and I'll provide it once the all star game is completed.

Thursday, July 1st, 2032:Polanco Voted Best RL Pitcher in June
"The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we may have to start inviting him out with us after the games."

Raúl Polanco put together a very solid month to take home the Republic League's top pitching honor in June.

The 23-year-old reliever threw with confidence some veteran's lack. In 11 relief appearances he raked in 9 saves and 19 strikeouts in 12.1 innings as he put together his 2-0 record and 0.00 ERA.

So far this year Polanco has 12 saves in 27 relief appearances with a 4-2 mark and 2.30 ERA.

Friday, July 2nd, 2032: Vega Makes 300 HR Mark
It was a historic day for New York's fine right fielder Nick Vega. He slammed home run number 300 in the Heroes 14-6 loss to the Hammersmith Hooligans at New York Grounds.

He told reporters after the game, that he was disappointed in losing the game. "It's great to get that many homers, but I don't play for homers -- I play to win. That's the name of the game."

In his milestone-making game Vega went 2 for 4, scored 1 run and collected 3 runs batted in. That home run put him in a select group of ballplayers.

In his career Vega has hit .271 with 1568 hits, 326 doubles, 47 triples and 300 home runs. His totals also include 951 RBIs and 958 runs scored.

Monday, July 5th, 2032: Luján Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Cyclones
Baltimore second baseman Sergio Luján sensed he was going to have a good game at the plate, but he underestimated just a little bit. Prior to the game, Luján predicted he would hit a home run against the Tokyo Cyclones.

During batting practice he told his teammates, "I really got my swing down pat. I feel some thunder in the lumber. I'm gonna get me a home run in this game." He was right. He did hit a home run -- three of them, in fact -- pacing the Charm over the Cyclones 9-1.

"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Luján told reporters after the game.

To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs.

S. Luján singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off J. Martínez in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off J. Gámez in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off P. Guerrero in the 8th.

In 2032 Luján is hitting .277, batted in 59 runs with 21 home runs and 53 runs scored.

Oh and I'm very happy to see Gentry get his 2000th hit with us. He's been a favorite of mine since he broke in with us, and I don't think I'll ever let him go. He reminds me of one of my favorite real players, Rusty Greer.

Friday, July 23rd, 2032: Goff Tames Hammersmith for #200
It was a special day at Ann Arbor Grounds for Ann Arbor's Douggie Goff. The Winged Lingerines ace logged his 200th career win against the Hooligans. In the 7-2 decision Goff tossed 9 innings, surrendered 5 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

"I'm real fortunate that I had the opportunity to play with such good players during my career," said Goff. "I just couldn't have drawn it up any better. I'm glad I did it in this uniform, too. Ann Arbor is a great organization to play for."

In his career Goff has totaled 200 victories and 180 defeats with a 4.09 ERA. The 34-year-old hurler also has struck out 2101 batters in 3192 innings and surrendered 3215 hits.
