Lets get through this season pretty quick please

I predict another 90+ loss season for the Naps. BUT in 2-3 more years (weeks) watch out RL!

I'm excited even though I know we have no chance this year...and I have to leave halfway through for a building meeting with the superintendent.

Terriers Spellbound, Ross Hurls No-Hitter
Monday, April 29th, 2024: The Plantana Pirates and their fans had a lot to celebrate today as 27-year-old hurler Donald Ross no-hit the Stafford Terriers 6-0 at Pirates Park.

"He mixed his pitches well, hit his spots...and got some help from above," said his pitching coach. "Donald really took it to another level today."

On his record-setting day Ross had 12 strikeouts and 3 walks.

His manager added, "I don't remember a better pitched game. And how about our defense, too. We played some good 'D' today."

So far this season Ross has a record of 3-0 with 43 strikeouts and 29 walks in 35.1 innings and a 1.78 ERA.

Ross's no hitter is the first in FOOL-X in 3 seasons and the first for Plantana since moving from Boston!

A fair plan. If I talk I just get myself in trouble so I just sit there quietly and try to look sweet while everyone complains around me.

Carmelo Takes RL's Best Bat Trophy
Wednesday, May 1st, 2024: When Carlito Carmelo stepped up to the plate in April, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the Republic League Batter of the Month award.

The young Waikiki right fielder posted a .405 batting average with 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 28 runs. Carmelo also worked pitchers for 15 walks to post a .469 on-base percentage.

Pak Takes Best Bat Award in April
Wednesday, May 1st, 2024: Free agent-to-be Hyun-koo Pak has inflated his asking price over the past 30 days by winning the Continental League Batter of the Month.

In April, the 30-year-old St Cloud left fielder hit .367 with 9 home runs and 26 RBIs.

If he keeps putting numbers like that up, he could be hauling in a big wad of cash at this time next year.

Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2024: Youngster Guillermo Ramos emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Las Vegas deserved the honor, batting .270 with 2 home runs and 14 RBI. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Ramos enjoy the limelight.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2024: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Daryl McDonald just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for April.

Over the past month the 23-year-old left fielder for Plantana hit .286 with 28 hits, 3 home runs and 19 runs batted in. He also logged 7 walks and compiled a .333 on-base percentage.

Takeuchi needs some run support. 3-1 record in April with a 0.91 ERA in 6 starts. That includes a no-decision on a 2-hit shutout performance that he left in the 6th inning where Las Vegas ended up losing!

No-Hitter for Belzile
Sunday, May 5th, 2024: It was a terrific day for Oscar Belzile of the Washington Freedom at The Brewery. He stood out with a fantastic 12-0 no-hitter against the St Louis Hops.

"I knew I had a No-No going in about the sixth inning, when I noticed no one was talking to me anymore," he said, referring to the time honored superstition of teammates avoiding the pitcher so they won't jinx the no-hitter. "Don't let people fool you. Everybody on the field and in the ballpark knows what's happening. They just pretend they don't."

For the game Belzile totaled 4 walks and 7 strikeouts in a very strong outing.

The Washington pitching coach marveled at his performance, "His mechanics were perfect and I don't think he threw one bad pitch in the whole game. He was that good."

To this point in the season, Belzile shows a 2-3 record, 7 starts, 35 innings, 23 strikeouts and a 4.37 ERA.

The second no-hitter in 6 days. The last time there were two no-hitters in one FOOL-X season was 25 seasons ago!

If it makes you feel any better, so far the one pitcher you picked up has been pretty awful in 10 games (ERA near 6) So not sure you want him in there more anyways!

May's RL Top Pitcher is Axemen Velásquez
Saturday, June 1st, 2024: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Juan Velásquez still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 34-year-old starter for Portland was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and no losses with 29 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 2.78 ERA in 35.2 innings of work.

To date this year, Velásquez shows a 6-2 record, 13 starts, 70 innings, 51 strikeouts and a 3.73 ERA.

Wheaton Nets CL #1 Pitcher Award
Saturday, June 1st, 2024: Whether Mike Wheaton stays in Chicago beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In May the 35-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 3-0 record and and an ERA of 1.20. In 45 innings he struck out 27, surrendered 30 hits, 6 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 7 starts last month.

Checking out his stats for the season, Wheaton has registered 5 wins and 2 losses in 14 starts, 2.00 ERA and struck out 57 batters in 85.2 innings.

Salas Cops RL Batter of the Month Honors
Saturday, June 1st, 2024: Ramiro Salas of the Wolverines hit .358 in May with 9 home runs, 25 RBIs and 23 runs scored to capture a majority of votes for the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 35-year-old is in the last year of his contract and will undoubtedly use these numbers to try and bring in a huge pay raise.

Salas is hitting .322 in 2024 with 42 RBIs and 14 home runs.

Pak Crowned Batter of the Month in May
Saturday, June 1st, 2024: Hyun-koo Pak battered Continental League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 30-year-old Pak told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 29 games, Pak hit .300 with 10 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 24 runs.

This year Pak has batted at a .333 pace with 73 hits, 19 home runs, 51 RBIs and scored 47 times.

Thompson Voted May's Top RL Rookie
Saturday, June 1st, 2024: Edward Thompson is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Maricopa hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .333 average with 29 hits, 3 home runs and 15 RBIs.

Thus far this year Thompson has hit .287 with 6 home runs and 29 RBIs.

Rookie Wiz Gets May Award in CL
Saturday, June 1st, 2024: Daryl McDonald's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Plantana left fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .281 with 6 doubles, 2 triples and no home runs. McDonald also scored 11 times and drove in 15 runs.

This season McDonald has 3 home runs and a .284 batting average.

Dillon Slams Milestone Homer
Wednesday, July 24th, 2024: The crowd roared -- they knew they were seeing history -- and Michael Dillon was delighted, too: The 33-year-old Lions left fielder was making history with his 300th career homer. "Never, as a kid, did I ever think I'd hit even one," he told BNN after hitting No. 300 in a 6-2 victory over Portland. Dillon went 2-4 in the game, had 1 run batted in, and scored 1 run.

In his career Dillon is batting .291 with 1949 hits, 277 doubles, 44 triples and 300 home runs.
