Napa Valley's Plante Top Pitcher in April
Friday, May 1st, 2105: Dave Plante took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award for April.

The 27-year-old Winemakers starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 3-0 won-lost record in 6 starts. This month he fanned 27 batters in 38.1 innings and compiled a 1.88 ERA.

Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Friday, May 1st, 2105: Albert Foster is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In April the Hartford hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .280 average with 23 hits, 2 home runs and 14 RBIs.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Friday, May 1st, 2105: Youngster Toyoharu Fujimoto emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Georgia deserved the honor, batting .278 with 2 home runs and 14 runs batted in. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Fujimoto enjoy the limelight.

I like them more because Thursday morning sims, I'm constantly getting phone calls or busy with work and having to split my attention. I miss alot of the fun stuff because of that.

Monday nights I just sit back and look for cool stories as they come up and enjoy it much more

McMahon Spins Masterpiece, No-Hits Hammersmith
Saturday, May 23rd, 2105: Will McMahon was unhittable today as he beat the Hooligans 3-0. The Los Angeles pitcher breezed through the Hammersmith lineup and got himself a no-hitter. McMahon had them talking to themselves as he struck out 6 and issued 5 walks in an outstanding performance at Hollywood Park.

His catcher said to reporters after the game, "He started off slow. He didn't have command of anything in the first three innings, but lucked his way through them. The Hooligans really helped him out by not being patient... they hit a lot of first pitches. Then it all came together in the fourth. From there on, the Hooligans never had a chance. He dominated them."

In season stats McMahon shows a 1-5 record in 11 games, 52 innings, 28 strikeouts and a 4.33 ERA.

McMahon's no-hitter is the first for Los Angeles since they moved from Brunswick! The last no-hitter for the franchise came 23 seasons ago.

I hope the next time I'm stationed in Europe I'll be able to get over to Italy, but as for my personal life, she is in class in another state. Which is good because she's not a fan of having my split attention on Skype while this is running.

He starred by hitting .434 with a .504 on-base percentage, totaled 49 hits in 113 at-bats, 4 home runs, 18 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

CL Batter of the Month Honors to Shimizu
Monday, June 1st, 2105: In the last year of his deal with Noblesville, Eisuke Shimizu has created some waves by winning May's Continental League Batter of the Month title today.

He put up a solid .339 batting average with 5 home runs, 21 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He also worked CL pitchers for 11 walks and a .395 on-base percentage.

If he keeps churning out numbers like these, the 28-year-old is sure to draw some attention, when contract time rolls around.

McMahon is the rookie I had to call up way to soon based on missing out on the rest of the Free Agents.

Absolutely love that he tosses a no-hitter, with his overall stats being as they are.

And some of us work, I wouldn't say it says anything about our personal lives. That would be an assumption SIR.

Foster Top of His Class in May
Monday, June 1st, 2105: Albert Foster was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old first baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen May's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 22 games Foster batted .328 for Hartford, slapping 22 hits in 67 at-bats with 3 home runs, drove in 9 runs and scored 7 times.

To date Foster has chalked up a .302 average with 5 home runs, driven in 23 runs and scored 19 times.

Luna Voted May's #1 Newcomer

Monday, June 1st, 2105: In May Jesús Luna put up award-winning numbers, batting his way to a Rookie of the Month award in the Continental League.

The Baltimore left fielder stroked 28 hits as he compiled a .301 average with 3 home runs and 17 RBIs.

Luna is hitting .304 this season with 3 home runs, 22 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has 51 hits in 168 at-bats.

Mullins hit .294 last year in his rookie season. So far this year his sophmore season has been unconscious. His batting average actually went up in the month of May

"I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 24 games, Masud hit .402 with 5 home runs, 19 RBIs and scored 13 runs.

So far this season Masud has hit .320 with 8 home runs, 40 RBIs and and scored 30 times.

In June he batted .366 with 6 home runs, 23 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

DOH! I knew I was forgetting to do something, hope that doesn't stunt development too much.

Baltimore's Garland Gets 2500th Hit
Thursday, July 9th, 2105: The Baltimore 6-4 loss to Napa Valley wasn't all bad. Something good came out it, at least for Ethan Garland. As a consolation prize he got the 2500th hit of his career. The veteran Gothams first baseman went 1-for-3 in the game and added his name to the coveted 2500-hit club. He was given a five-minute ovation by the crowd, which included his wife and family and quite a few former Gothams teammates.

"I could have scripted it better," Garland commented to the press after the game, "a win would have made it a lot more enjoyable. But what the hey... hit #2500 ain't so bad."

Over his career Garland is batting .333 with 282 home runs and 1155 RBIs. In 2057 games he has delivered 2500 hits, scored 1225 runs, stolen 3 bases and gotten on base at a .421 clip.

That Napa Valley pitching staff is dominating the league so far. Top 3 starting pitchers in the CL (according to the AI), is giving the starting rotation a 2.54 ERA this season.

This is with their #2 starter underachieving as well thus far.
