Here since 10/23/2000. One of my few daily rituals is to come here. Interesting to see the median age in the upper 30s, as if the site and its visitors have grown together.

I distinctly recall registering earlier, but since the Izulde incarnation of Sept 10th 2014 (I forgot to celebrate my first decade at FOFC. Damn.)...
-Attended 5 schools, 2 in the Mountain West -Obtained 2 degrees, including one with a 4.0 -Lived in 5 cities -Held 6 different jobs (4 year retail, a summer industrial, 2 teaching GAships, 2 adjunct spots) -Traveled to countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa -Was man of honor in a wedding -Pledged 2 fraternities (had to leave one before initiating due to school transfer), and initiated 1 -Won Golden Scribes at FOFC and several Paradox Interactive forum awards I guess I've done more with my life in my first decade of FOFC membership than I thought. I doubt the second decade will be as eventful, but you never know

Not surprised I'm in the biggest block here. Seems about the right age if you were around for the first few FOFs.

I think I was afraid to use my credit card on the internet to buy the first game. Looking back, now that I've been hacked in every major security breach, perhaps it was wise to feel that way.

I had no kids when I joined. I now have three. I remember lurking a bit on the very old FOF board way back in the late 1990s when I was initially curious about Front Office Football and then again when I found this board after it moved before finally registering in 2003. All that was in my mid-to-late 20s. I'm now confronting the fact that that my next birthday will be the same as the one when we threw my dad his "Over the Hill" party. Fortunately, it's over 11 months away.

I was a Sideline guy as well. I'm pretty sure that in any OT discussions at the time, I pretended to be much older than I was because I figured I was the only teenager around.

I think Jim needs to consider offering discounts to those of us that have an AARP card for the next release.

My dad had to buy me my first FOF, because I was a freshman in high school (if I remember that correctly). The credit card thing was what he was real worried about as well. I still remember getting TCY shipped in the mail, and thinking it was like Christmas morning. I was in my bedroom for days without coming out. Getting a game like that shipped. Boy how things have changed since then. |

I think my first sideline post was the day FOF2 came out. I think I got the game a day earlier than most everyone else on the board (I lived pretty close to where Jim was shipping the games from at the time), and I started a thread about how the game appeared to be really buggy - all the players and teams had the same name. It turns out I didn't understand copy protection and entered my serial number wrong. It was promptly pointed out what an idiot I was and I changed the title of the thread.

I joined in 2002, but lurked until 2004 largely because I didn't have access to the email account I signed up with and Ben wouldn't believe me and switch my username to a new email account and for whatever reason i didn't want to reregister with a new username and lord knows whatever other issues.
