World Series of Baseball (OOTP14)

Old laptop crapped out. This leaves me with unfinished dynasties which I apologize about (I may be doomed to never complete an interactive football dynasty). Though I would have finished that one if not for a mod who was mad about having a tiny penis and could only make up for that by boxing people.

With that said...

I figured now would be a good time to jump to OOTP 14 (yeah, I know I wasn't going to but I did).

Time to start a dynasty that I can use to get my mind of the crap going on at work right about now.

The next few posts will detail the setup of the dynasty and I will be looking for team names to use in the dynasty so please feel free to post some ideas after you see what I am looking to do.

The league will consist of 8 different leagues which will be spread throughout the World.

Each league will contain two divisions made up of 8 teams.

The regular season will be a shorter one. I am still deciding on either a 60 or a 90 game regular season.

Once the seasons are over there will be a best of 7 championship for every league.

The champions of each league will be entered into a playoff (all rounds best of 7) until the final World Champion is declared.

Rinse and repeat throughout the seasons.

I am debating about using either fictional or random historic rookies. Will update as I continue to refine the actual rule set.

If you have any suggestions for team names, feel free to post. I'll try to get them into a league that the team fits into the best.

Are you allowing trades within the leagues?

Good start with the names. I'll update over the weekend and start adding some of the ground rules as I setup the game.

Getting there. Two of the leagues now have teams named.

Feel free to post more suggestions for the remaining leagues. Will try to fill up two more leagues tomorrow night.

I missed my chance to get in the Macon (GA) Whoopee, so I'll settle for a team down under called {wait for it} ....

Aussie Osbournes

maybe a Latin League team called the Dominican Republicans?
maybe a Euro League entry called the Frankfurt Ers
how about a Pacific League team, the Hollywood Hogans

edit to add:
And ya can't miss the Paris Hiltons
and since actual names aren't excluded, I think Calgary Stampede is a good call out west

You probably want to bump Halifax to the East, given their location in Nova Scotia.

Will get the game setup tonight.

Time to test out the name generation in the game. See if we get players that match the areas.

League Setup

- All leagues share the draft pool, trading can be done cross leagues.

- 90 game season, starts April 1st, for all leagues.

- Best of 7 championship for each league following the season.

- After the league championships there will be a tournament for all of the playoff teams from the 8 leagues (16 teams) with the champions seeded as 1 through 8 based on winning % and the runner ups 9 through 16. This will crown the World Champion.

- Financials and Hall of Fame criteria have been chopped down based on the percentage of games being played.

For the ECBL I hope that the race ends up that tight in the North, would be a good finish if that is the case.

I also want to see if Diego 'Music' Lopez is as advertised for Philly. (Stuff 19/20; Movement 14/14; Control 13/13; Fastball 19/19; Curve 13/14; Forkball 16/17; Changeup 7/7) He is just 25 so he has several seasons ahead of him.

His teammate Millard Dudley looks pretty decent too (S 18/18; M 13/13; C 11/11; FB 16/16; CB 18/19; SL 14/14; CH 17/17). He is only 27. They could have a nice one two punch for the next 5-7 seasons (depending on what they do with free agency).

Best nickname so far that I have seen. Bangor second baseman Danny 'Hulk' Griggs. He has a hulking power rating of 4/4. He may be a very good leadoff man though as he has great speed and is 20/20 in eye/discipline and 15/15 in avoiding strikeouts and also in contact.

For Payroll New York leads the way with a 98 million dollar payroll with Bangor surprisingly second at 96 million. Orlando brings up the rear with just a 42 million dollar payroll.

Washington and Boston have the highest rated minor league systems (reserves). Buffalo and Daytona have the worst minor league systems (by rating they are each almost 10 times worse than Washington and Boston).

Okay, I give up.... on trying to post the previews. Three different times I have lost what I posted thanks to the Win 8 loss of connection issue. Also, forgive any typos tonight, I am rather mellowed out on pain meds thanks to a dental problem that started on Friday night (of course a Friday on a three day weekend) and got MUCH worse by this morning. Long story short, anti-biotic, pain killers and a root canal scheduled for 2 weeks from now.

I am going to start up the season.

Quick rundown before I start:

SBL
Chattanooga and Memphis picked to be the cream of the crop in the East with a close race. Nashville, Atlanta, Mobile and New Orleans are predicted to be really bad.
Corpus Christi predicted as an easy winner in the West.

MBL
Milwaukee predicted to run away with the East.
Parker predicted to win the West with Lincoln predicted to really suck.

PBL
Grants Pass, Eureka and Seattle predicted to have a very close race in the North with Ashland and Redding in for a long season.
Bakersfield predicted to win the South easily with Las Vegas far off the pace in last.

LBL
Port-au-Prince to win a close one over Havana in the North.
Lima and Stanley to be in a close race in the South. Santiago predicted to have no chance.

CLoB
Barrie predicted to run away with the East and have the best record in the entire set of leagues.
The West will be a wild race between Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert and Edmonton.

ABL
Manila to edge Tokyo and Aussie in the East.
Kabiul and Dehli to run away with the division and have a close race between the two.

EBL
Frankfurt to blitz the North with an 8 game cushion. Only Manchester predicted to be under .500.
Rome, Pamplona and Bari to be in a close race and the only teams over .500 in the South.

Daytona starting pitcher David Anderson is 6-0 in 6 starts with an ERA of 2.06.

4/16 - Williamsburg first baseman Ivan Guzman hits 3 homeruns against Bangor.

SBL
Memphis is tearing up the East at 23-5 with Birmingham in 2nd at 17-11.

Five teams are all within 2 games of each other in the West (Phoenix, Fayetteville, Corpus Christi, Little Rock and Albuquerque). Roswell is struggling at 7-21.

Albuquerque right fielder Bob Holmes leads the league hitting .429 and tied for the league lead with 12 homeruns and leads in WAR at 3.3.

Omaha and Casper have been the class of the West and are tied at 18-10 with no other team in the division over .500.

Casper left fielder Will Simmons leads the league in hitting with a .377 average and is hitting bombs to lead the league with 16 homeruns and 40 RBI's. He leads with a 2.6 WAR.

Milwaukee's Jermaine Roberts leads the league at 6-0 with an ERA of 2.18.

Des Moines' Carlos Herrera leads the league with 65 strikeouts in just 43.0 innings of work.

4/12 - Indianapolis starter Kevin Mosier throws a no hitter in an 8-0 win against Des Moines. He walked 2 and struck out 8.

4/19 - Des Moines starter Carlos Herrera strikes out 15 in a game against Parker.

PBL

CLoB
Barrie leads the East at 20-8 with Ottawa just a game back at 19-9. Halifax is close at 17-11. Toronto (9-19) and Thunder Bay (8-20) are struggling.

Prince Albert leads the way at 20-8 in the West. Victoria (18-10) and Saskatoon (17-11) are the closest. Vancouver (8-20) had a month to forget.

Saskatoon catcher Ed Conley has been eating pitchers for lunch as he leads the league with a .474 average. He leads in WAR at 3.7.

Toronto shortstop James Steward has provided the team's only reason to cheer so far as he leads the league with 17 homeruns and 33 RBI's.
