So which team has the balls to sign the guy?

Poll coming...

I say Jacksonville. They are down South, a small market, and are a team that needs a bit of hype going into the season. Their QB situation isn't real solid either.

I think I have to go with the Jaguars here. You know, in case Garrard gets hurt, they need to have another black quarterback available. Only black players have attempted regular-season passes for the Jags since Matt Jones tried one on September 25, 2005. Jacksonville? More like Blacksonville, am I right?

OK, how much internet backlash do I get for making that joke? I hope it's a lot because I'm tired of the internet kissing my feet all the time! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO MAKE YOU HATE ME?

But you're a black man, Pumpy. You're allowed to say things like that.

At least last time I checked.

So you're saying you're gonna be the 3rd string QB for Blacksonville?

The redskins don't have an established QB. They will pretty much sign anyone, regardless of flaws. I would expect to see Vick throwing passes at Donte Stallworth's ankles in 2010.

I know the popular guess is Washington, but I don't think so (as a biased fan). I just don't think Snyder is THAT stupid. In addition, Zorn is on record as saying he doesn't like the wildcat. The Redskins already have a gimmic former QB in Randle-El. It just doesn't make sense based on the Redskins roster. Perhaps if they think he is a more valuable roster spot than Colt Brennan or give up on having a veteran backup and sign him in place of Todd Collins.

So, in short, Snyder would have to believe several things

That he is of value in a wildcat offense, that his coach doesn't like

or

he is a more valuable qb than either Todd Collins or Colt Brennan. I don't think there is ANYWAY somoene believes he should start over Jason Campbell unless he had an amazing tryout and camp.

or

he somehow improves the WR combination of Santana Moss, Antwaan Randle El, Malcom Kelly and Devin Thomas. I think if he jumps into that lineup you have to keep 6 WR or drop ARE, because Vick is not worth the risk of losing last year's early draft picks.

Huh? JC is the established QB, despite the nonsense in the off-season. Vick is, IMO, not worth signing as a QB over Campbell. This is a make or break year for Campbell, but not so much that they would sign a guy who has been in jail rather than an NFL training program for two years.

JC is pretty much average. If they thought otherwise, I believe he would have a new contract in place by now.

Whatever team does, then I will root for them to go 0-16. If it's the Dolphins, I guess I won't be watching much pro football this year.

I guess I misspoke then, the Redskins do have an established, mediocre by all accounts and stat measurements, QB in place. One they've apparently not tried very hard to re-sign, and actively attempted to trade this offseason for an upgrade.

I'm not sure where I would come up with the idea that they might try to sign Vick, and hope he's an upgrade.

Even if I do know that Vick won't likely be an upgrade.

The Skins talent evaluation is not what I would consider to be good, so they may deem Vick as an upgrade.

Clearly it all depends on talent evaluation. But even if he can perform like he did before (but most likely at a reduced level with two years off), you have to design your team around a guy like that. The Redskins offensive line is not built to handle a scrambling QB (or a pocket QB for that matter). It just doesn't really make sense. Again, I am a homer, and I know they're the popular pick, but I just don't see it happening.

dola: There are teams with much worse QB situations than having Jason Campbell, a guy with 3 different offensive coordinators in as many years.

As far as a roster spot goes, does Vick count against your final 53? Cause if you can activate him later, he is probably worth a flyer for a few teams.

I would imagine he would attempt to get some sort of guarantee in his contract, but I don't know if the NFL even allows such a thing. But, no, I would imagine that by default he would not be guaranteed a final roster spot.

Wouldn't Cleveland be the most logical place for him to sign? I mean, they've already got the Dog Pound.

I voted Dolphins. They seem like an organization that is innovative and willing to take chances. Vick in the wildcat would be deadly.

Dude, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I mean none. Those passes are going over his head.

I voted for the Raiders just for pure comical value.

Ah, the same reasoning some of us Niner fans think Alex Smith can actually be good. I believe he's up to 4 in 4 (and he was actually good under Norv).

The difference here being Campbell has still managed to improve each year and was average-slightly above average last year. Which is considerably better than Alex Smith has ever been.

I'm relatively high on Campbell. I think he ends up being a top 10 QB.

Heh...somebody picked the Colts.

I think he ends up in Minnesota. Even if Favre plays for a year...he still ends up there.

Normally the Raiders would be a logical choice...but I'm thinking he hasnt quite fallen that far. [ducks]

I voted for the Raiders as well, he fits that renegade style.

Seriously, I could see him there as a slash type player, sometimes in the wildcat, sometimes in the slot.

I seriously doubt he will ever start at QB again for anybody in the NFL. When all is said and done Canada might be his best option.

While the Raiders to this point still suck, coach Cable is really changing the style of the team by getting rid of the selfish, renegade type players you speak of. They have gotten rid of the problem players and have added strong character players. They also have a young QB they are betting the farm on, Garcia to back him up and plenty of people to run the ball (biggest strength of the team other than starting CB's). 0% chance he signs there

I guessed Miami

No way he plays in Minnesota while Childress is coach which may not be long. He would look like a complete tool to try and rid the Vikings of troubled players like Vick then bring 2 back in the same year.

I caught the back half of a story (or rumor or something) on one of the syndicated sportstalk radio shows a little while ago & if I understood what they were saying, the Dolphins are apparently back in the hunt for him after the Vikings reduced their contract offer. Like I said, I caught just part of it & may have misunderstood but I would have sworn it was Favre they were talking about.

For the record, I'm not sold on Campbell. I think he's a much more sure-fire thing than a two years out of an NFL program Vick. Snyder makes moves that he thinks will let the Redskins win this year. That is not Michael Vick.

If he plays, it will be for MIN. It seems to me that the only reason he wants to keep playing is for the whole "get back at Ted Thompson" reason. He really has nothing left to prove, and if the end of last year is any indication, he is losing his touch - and fast.

As a Buffalo fan [unfortunately] I'm curious about the 4 people who went "Bills."

Oakland seemed like the logical choice [at least before reading Danny's post] due to their body of work.

Didnt your starting quarterback last year sign with a team in the CFL last week?

My bad Losman signed with a UFL team and thats who I was thinking about.

So you have Edwards and who else? I dont see why they wouldnt take a shot with Vick, you already have TO.

I may take heat for this, but I wouldn't mind seeing Vick lined up with Jonathan Stewart on his right and DeAngelo Williams on his left. Holy crap.

As more of a Wildcat thing too, Delhomme would remain starter, and Vick just spell him at times . Those 3 running the ball would be unbelievable.

Totally disagree. It will be a huge distraction for the players, coaches, and everyone involved with the team. They will be asked questions about Vick for weeks on end and have way more media coverage then usual and PArcells only wants his team focused on 1 thing and thats football.

he is a more valuable qb than either Todd Collins or Colt Brennan. I don't think there is ANYWAY somoene believes he should start over Jason Campbell unless he had an amazing tryout and camp.

or

he somehow improves the WR combination of Santana Moss, Antwaan Randle El, Malcom Kelly and Devin Thomas. I think if he jumps into that lineup you have to keep 6 WR or drop ARE, because Vick is not worth the risk of losing last year's early draft picks.

wait.... you dont think snyder is the stupidest person in the history of the world?

My understanding of the rumors being floated about the Redskins would be more about Vick for next year if the Campbell experiment fails this year. So, in that way, I think your comparison to Brennan/Collins is appropriate. I agree that the wouldn't unseat Campbell THIS year, but they could look to him for next - plus use him in special situations. Returner maybe? Reverses? etc.

I don't think the Vick to Washington idea, unfortunately, is that crazy. I don't see him costing much money and Snyder understands the whole "all publicity is good" concept.

And for the record, I'm WAY more sold on Campbell than most people I know. I think if they'd use him right and not change the system on him constantly that he could be at least an above average QB that could be the starter for Washington for the foreseeable future. But, based on history, they'll continue to design an offense around his weaknesses.
