Wow, over 20 per catch and a TD to boot. Must have broken a long one or something.

Congrats on a really terrific season for Duke. If you finish strong with recruiting then I think you will have pretty much turned the corner in the ACC and moved into a "NCAA power" for the next few seasons. Or at least that is what it looks like from following along ... not sure if it feels that way for you as you are playing out the seasons.

It's still gonna take time but it's moving well. Even though I am a 5 star prestige team most guys who are interested in Duke are 2 - 4 star guys. And it's not a lot of 4 star guys. I have to spend a lot more time on them to get them in and so my classes can tend to suffer size wise for it. But we have a stud QB who will be a sophmore, my WR's should be back, including Vernon who was runner up for the Heisman, all my core on D should came back except for Drew. I think we could make a legit BCS run next year, though the year after is more realistic. |

Dola, I am shocked Hoopsguy you actually got Prewitt on Illinois. I know they're your team and I hadn't even figured they'd play a part for your player. I thought he'd be ND bound for sure.

Yeah, I had yet to see Illinois competing on any of the other MW players. I actually considered listing him in some other region just so that he would not end up at Notre Dame (triple ugh) or Michigan (ugh, even though I know they are your team). So this worked out as well as could be expected. Now if we can have Illinois win a bunch of games over the next 4 years that would be even better. |

Hmm, does it suggest that I pay too much or too little attention to college football recruiting when I recognize the names of about half of the 2012 early entry players

2013 FOFC Depth Charts
WR Real Diehl: He is currently 5th on the chart at Alabama. He might see some time this year but will be better off with a red shirt. WR Bug Kappe: He is now a 90 OV and the #1 WR for Boise State. He will also handle kick offs and punts. QB Dan Schoonover: He was red shirted last year and is now an 86 OV and the starting QB for the Gators. He has the keys to a well oiled machine but I assume there will be bumps along the way. WR Ian Tasan: He is the #4 WR for the Gators behind a pair of Juniors and a Sophmore. He should be solid this year and blossom next year. DT Nick Scott: He behind a Senior and two Sophmores so he will probably red shirt though it isn't out of the realm of possibility he plays some this year. WR Chris Prewitt: Prewitt is the #2 WR for Illinois already, behind a Rs Jr. He should make a lot of plays as a true freshman before becoming the #1 as soon as his sophmore year. QB Rob Nielsen: Nielsen is now a 90 OV and the #1 QB for the Buckeyes. He has replaced the incumbent Kenny Guiton and will be a contender for the top QB in the Nation. MLB Sam Jolley: Jolley is now an 89 OV but he backs up tone of the nations best MLB in Storm Johnson, a 97 OV. Still Jolley will see the field far more this year before becoming the main man next season. RB Dan Ertmann: Ertmann is behind a Sr, Jr and So. He should end up red shirting this year before making a push to be at least the #2 back next year. TE Dave Tasan: Only went up to an 86 OV which was a bit shocking. Regardless he is a man amongst boys at TE and should be a 700 - 800 yard guy this season. HB Nicolas Fillion: Fillion was red shirted and is now the #2 back behind 93 ov Rs Jr Jordan Pettit. Fillion will see PT this year, but might have to wait a bit before he is the guy, assuming there isn't an injury. SS Dat King: King is an 88 OV and is still a backup. He backs up 98 OV Sr Gerald Hodges, one of the Nation's best. Expect King to be the man next year but still see time this season. QB Chez Opeake: Chez will be a red shirt for sure at Texas. He is behind two Jr's and a So. They are only 86's and 87's so he will probably pass them in a year or two but don't expect to see him this season. MLB Dayne Ho: Ho was red shirted but is still stuck behind two good Jr MLB's and will end up as the 4th or 5th MLB. He needs a few years on the pine before it's time to shine. MLB Jace Hunter: Hunter is now an 89 OV and will once again man the middle for the Trojans. He hopes to become one of the Nation's elite this season. WR Deacon Palmer: Palmer is only an 86 OV and stuck as the #4 WR this year for the Hokies, though he is behind three seniors. The road will be clear for him to emerge as the go to guy as a Junior. |

Duke had a bye - Florida beats Toledo 31-10. Dan Schoonover goes 12/28 for 136 yards and a TD in his debut for the Gators. - USC sneaks by Boston College 31-28. Jace Hunter had 9 tackles with a TFL. - Ohio State sneaks by Cal 13-10. Rob Nielsen was 19/42 for 226 yards with a TD and an INT. Sam Jolley picked up 5 tackles. Recruit Updates - Michigan offers Tony Rodriguez and builds a little momentum with him. That is his main offer of note so far. - Ohio State and Duke both offer Trey Hunter and now are his 1 and 2 respectively. That said neither team is ahead of any other team. - Ohio State and Boise State are 1-2 for Samuel Mohr now after both come through with offers, though as with Hunter, neither team is ahead of any others. - No offers for Dean Ho. Right now he looks like he favors PSU and OSU. - Notre Dame and Duke offer Erik Flamebeard, with ND jumping out to #1 barely ahead of USC. Duke is in third. - Florida and Wisconsin are out in front for Jeff Nights early. - Parker Tasan picks up offers form FSU, PSU, OU and LSU which now make up his top 4. Those four teams are ahead of the pack. |

Cool...
Another few guys Name: Samuel 'Sammy' Nesbitt Position: QB/RB H/W: 5'6", 215 Hometown: Bronx, NY Style: Scrambling QB w/ Rocket Arm - Power RB w/ Good Vision, not much top speed. Likes to hit. Alot. Quick feet, but short legs hamper his speed. Rather run 'over' than around, to his detriment at times. Name: Tyler Gibson Position: TE/WR H/W: 6'1.5", 220 Hometown: Richmond, VA Style: Trackstar (100m/50m) with reasonable hands. Not big on contact, but willing blocker. May be better on the opposite side of ball. And to edit... Name: Richard 'RAM' Miller Position: S/OLB H/W: 6'3", 215 Hometown: Newark, DE Style: Speed Rusher/Coverage OLB, Speed/Cerebral S, Solid but weak tackler. Speedster, has very good hands, likes to hit, extremely intelligent (Academic scholarships smart). Potential as a return man, but no experience. Extremely raw (lack of PT in high school) Is that TMI? or the more the better?

Jace Hunter had 5 stops. - FSU puts it to VT 48-14. Deacon Palmer had 1 grab for 26 yards. Recruit Updates - Michigan continues to lead for Tony Rodriguez but Duke slides into 10th on the power of an offer. Still, this looks like UM's to lose. - PSU offers Trey Hunter and now sits in 2nd ahead of Duke but behind Ohio Sate. Still not much of anything separates the three programs. - Duke is now 7th for Sam Mohr. Florida has offered though and now sits 2nd behind OSU. - Duke offers Dean Ho but can't crack his top 10. Otherwise he is offer less. - No changes for Tim Sheppard. - Notre Dame has Flamebeard's interest now and have a nice lead over the field. A week 7 visit to South Bend could be all it takes. - UW and Florida now lead for Nights by a wide margain. - No changes for Ballcrusher. - FSU, PSU, LSU and OU are now all very close to full interest for Parker Tasan. The visits will have to shake out before this one becomes clear. |
