IWS#35 - Results
The results are in...
1. Name the best cornerback in the NFL, right now. Good mix of answers, with the usual names you'd expect. I was a little surprised that it wasn't closer. Charles Woodson - 12 Champ Bailey - 5 Troy Vincent - 4 Patrick Surtain - 2 Ronde Barber - 1 Sam Madison - 1 Ty Law - 1 Shawn Springs - 1 2. Other than Mario Lemieux, name an active NHL player who will be in the Hall of Fame. I'd say all five of these guys probably will be hall of famers, so there weren't any "wrong" answers. Just one that was more "right" than the others. Patrick Roy - 12 Brett Hull - 6 Steve Yzerman - 4 Jaromir Jagr - 3 Mark Messier - 3 3. Past or present, name a talk show host. I intentionally worded the question so that it would be open to both late-night and afternoon hosts, but most of you were thinking late-night. David Letterman - 12 Oprah Winfrey - 5 Johnny Carson - 4 Jay Leno - 3 Jerry Springer - 2 Conan O'Brien - 1 4. Name a Saturday Night Live star who went on to a movie career. Sadly, the runaway blockbuster "Master of Disguise" wasn't enough to get any votes for Dana Carvey. Mike Myers - 9 Eddie Murphy - 5 Adam Sandler - 4 Chevy Chase - 4 Bill Murray - 3 Will Ferrell - 1 John Travolta - 1 5. Past or present, name a comic strip. This was the one that turned into a landslide. I expected Peanuts to win, but was surprised at how high the number was. I would have expected some Calvin and Hobbes votes, but it was shut out. Peanuts - 22 Garfield - 2 Dilbert - 1 Doonesbury - 1 Far Side - 1 6. Past or present, name a controversial standup comedian. Lots of good answers here, although I must have missed the Jeff Foxworthy controversy. I admit I was shocked to see not one vote cast for Sam Kinison. George Carlin - 7 Andrew Dice Clay - 7 Lenny Bruce - 4 Richard Pryor - 2 Chris Rock - 2 Eddy Murphy - 1 Dave Chappelle - 1 Jeff Foxworthy - 1 Andy Kaufman - 1 Bill Maher - 1 |

And the winner is... a three-way tie. Despite each having a different set of answers, three of you wound up with the same score. Congratulations to sterlingice, msf518 and Swaggs.

Man, at first I went with a late night host, then I thought about it...and that was the mistake. Geez...perfect on all but two, and way wrong on the other two. Well, getting closer...

My streak is over!
I almost put Woodson, but decided against it since he had been injured so much the past season. |

Three 1s dumped me right back to the place i'm used to.
Thank you Ronde Barber, John Travolta and Eddy Murphy...

Hey, I keep on trying.
All last places were serious tries. Someday, mistakes like the Chicago Bears' (wink to anrhydeddu) will do me good... EDIT: I've been too long offboard to spell co-FOFCers' names correctly... Last edited by MIJB#19 : 03-14-2003 at 01:52 PM. |

#$!&%$...fourth place again. What in the hell do I have to do to get any higher?
Oh, and Fritz, no need to answer that question...

All it takes is two one point answers to kill your first place answers.
I'm the only one who picked Bill Maher?! Considering he's the most recent controversial stand-up comedian and lost his show for saying the wrong thing, I thought he was a sure bet for top three minimum. I thought he would get more votes than yesterday's news Andrew Dice Clay. I can't believe I didn't answer Peanuts. They never even came to mind. :o Haven't seen the Peanuts since I was a little kid watching Charlie Brown TV specials. Far Side, Doonesbury, Calvin and Hobbes, a bunch of titles come to mind first. |

I have hosted before, so I would be glad to pass the job along to sterling or msf.
We can each submit two questions. |

I'm an Avs fan, and I didn't pick Roy (because I know everyone hates him).
I'm stunned more people didn't pick Johnny Carson or Adam Sandler.

sterlingice, msf518 or Swaggs should do it, but if they're not interested I'll give it a go.

Well, we should get this going in the next few days. I just PM'd the other two and if they don't want to host, I'll gladly do it.

Good thing I'm back to my 'normal' life and have all the time to join IWS's (and finish last).

Don't worry, swaggs and i are working things out. I wanted to make sure we both had a shot to do some questions for it (msf518 is nowhere to be found). We were thinking of some summer blockbuster/offseason football questions. He was out of town Sunday/Monday and I was working on a project from 1pm yesterday until 7am this morning (that's 18 hours for those not counting at home). It will be up Wednesday night/Thursday morning at the latest. Don't worry- it's not lost
