God, that was funny. Plus his scene with Gene Hackman.

What 20th century icon was a close friend of Boyle?

I just read in one of the articles that John Lennon was the best man at his wedding.

I agree...to me, he will always be the monster in Young Frankenstein. No matter how many times I've seen that "Puttin' On The Ritz" scene, I laugh until I cry whenever I watch it.

RIP

He also did a terrific guest role on an episode (or more) of The X-Files. Excellent character actor, and a hell of a Frankenstein, of course.

It means I DO love my wife, but if I got hit by a bus tomorrow, that'd be cool too.

That's too bad. I loved his character in the show and Young Frankenstein is one of my all time favorites.

I just watched Taxi Driver for the first time last week and had no idea that he was going to be in it.

I also had no idea he was the monster in Young Frankenstein...though it's been WAY too long since I've seen that movie.

Dola-

He was on an episode of Mind of Mencia about six or eight months ago, and he looked BAD. I'm surprised he made it as long as he did...

Best trivia about Peter Boyle- He was a Dominican Monk before he became an actor.

Raymond is easily my favorate sitcom ever and he made the show. I am very sad about this because not only did he remind me very much of my own father but he was younger and that is scary. 71 is just to young

Put me in the Young Frankenstein crowd and I'll admit I kinda thought it insulting to call him the Raymond father but I know that wasn't meant to be and he's probably best known for that part.

RIP Peter, you were one of the greatest.

I caught that one too, and thought the same thing.

Rest peacefully, Mr. Boyle, and thanks for the laughs.

I saw an Alka-Seltzer commercial with Boyle and Doris Roberts (his wife from Raymond) earlier this year and I thought he wasn't looking too good. I didn't know about the health problems until I read about his death.
