I agree with Brian... I'm thinking the second episode is where this show might hit its stride with the female co-worker and new job. I loved Ed and I wanted to like this first episode, but unfortunately the whole setup in the first episode was .... boring. If it weren't for the last five minutes, I don't think I'd continue watching it. I think Tom narrating in the beginning and throughout the episode might've made viewers lose interest. There's potential I guess with the new job and all, but not the best pilot. Dunno.. maybe I just had expectations since I liked Ed so much.

Not bad. Not great... but I'll watch again.

Digamma, which person is your friend who is involved in the show? Were they in the credits?

I did notice that Nic Harcourt, music author and DJ was one of the co-producers, so that can't but help the show, IMO.

He had a producer credit immediately following Cavanagh's.

It's amazing how little time shows get these days.

It finished 3rd in its time slot, but I can't help but think it'll probably be given a bit more time.

I think the problem CBS is going to have with it is that it doesn't have any other shows even remotely like it to pair it with, so it's going to lose a lot of lead-in audience from almost anything else.

Right, but Fox doesn't have 10 PM programming.

You are absolutely correct about CBS not having a partner show for it.

The word from my buddy is that it "did not perform up to expectations."

Considering the amount of promo they gave this show during the NFL playoffs, I can understand the disappointment. Hopefully it will build an audience though, because I think the potential is there for a solid show.

I'd agree Butter... esp. the last 10 minutes lured me to watch again next week. I do think they are setting up for bigger and better things... the amount of money that was spent on marketing warrants at least a half dozen shows (unlike the shows that get cancelled 2 weeks into the show). I was disappointed with the first half of the show... too many attempts at "cute" humor.

Only eight episodes were ordered initially. All eight will likely air this spring. If it builds an audience, they could order more for next fall, but right now, that doesn't look likely. Of course, it is only one night--but the first is typically the best night from a ratings perspective.

Is it true that Emily's Reasons Why Not to Watch This Show got canned after its first airing?

That would be nice, I must of missed the whole Jenna Elfman is a sitcom goddess time period, given how heavy they've been pushing that show.

Yes. While it's technically on "hiatus", the show is done. They pulled the plug last week right after they filmed the 6th episode or so. It's possible some of the remaining episodes my be aired, but that is very unlikely.

Not really on his character, but a couple of peripheral issues that have come up.

Tomorrow night is the big night for them, and they should know their fate on Wednesday. If they hold the 3.2 they got last week, CBS will be very happy. The problem with last week's show was that viewership fell off every 15 minutes. The show needs to show some ability to hold an audience.

Do they have some measure for when it's being tivo'd? That is what we do, but if it will help I'll turn it on in the bedroom and record it to so I can watch it commercial free later

That whole Starship thing cracked me up. I enjoyed this episode more than the first. Although so far the sportscaster guy has barely been on the show.

After seeing the second episode, i'm really going to like this show. However, I have a bad feeling that this show will have the same experience as Ed, with not so great ratings, a constantly changing time slot, a small group of very loyal fans, and the constant threat of cancellation. I think best case is that it makes it for three seasons.

I just don't think that this is the kind of show that will be popular right now, as it isn't a reality show and isn't a crime investigation / court room / hospital drama show.

It is too bad we don't have more "different" types of drama shows on TV, but I guess the networks have to do what makes money.

naked jello wrestling featuring Julie Bowen and Jenna Elfman is a ratings winner.

1st episode gets a 5.9/9 rating, while the 2nd gets a 5.1/9. I take that as a bad sign.

Another thing that is going to hurt this show while it tries to establish itself - it isn't going to be on next week because of the state of the union address. They really needed an episode that people would talk about, because people might forget about this show.

It looks like CBS is going to air the full eight episode order and make a decision at the end of the season.

That must mean they like the show and see its potential. Hopefully it'll make some strides ratings-wise over the coming weeks. Although for me, they can't get rid of that Wayne kid and the needless star cameos fast enough. I can see trying to get some names in the show to draw viewers, but it seems like the stars in episode #2 just exist to have them say hi, and then exit stage right. At least have them act or something... do something interesting with them.

I'm happy to see the network give the show a chance before making a decision. This really seems like the kind of show that won't be an instant hit, but will probably develop a following. I wish more shows were given this chance.

If I'm not mistaken, he's not going to be around much in the next few shows... I was under the impression that he was only going to be on the first couple of episodes, thanks to Sony.

I have this on Tivo, but it's behind something else (can't remember what right now) so I've only gotten one episode (which I liked a LOT and imagine i'll be using his little catch phrase "song title" down the road) and getting the one tonight...

Can't wait for tonights episode....

I was actually going to bump this thread today - I heard a great song on the radio called "For you I will", it's by the guy who plays Wayne on the show...can't remember his name for the life of me right now. But on tonights show they are going to be shooting a mock video for this single...at least that is what the DJ said. The guy is really talented - I hope he has an actual album coming out.

Only a decent episode, my least favorite of the three so far. I hope that he will be dealing with a new artist soon, as Wayne is getting a little old since his character isn't that great.
