So, yeah, it's summer

What with last weekend officially kicking things off and now this:

Heat wave expected to set another Houston record | Front page | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
Houston with record highs for June. The 104 yesterday was the hottest ever in June in Houston. Just think about that statement for a minute. Today's forecast 101 is likely to be the 3rd daily record in a row shattered. The low overnight last night... 83.

We've had excessive heat warning all week and it's expected to continue through Saturday. Heat index around 110. Worse yet, the heat is giving birth to some heavy-duty microburst thunderstorms each afternoon. They're usually only a few miles wide, but if you have one go through your area, you get 60-70 MPH winds and an inch or two of rain in 20-30 minutes.

It's a bitch to get up at 5:30 in the morning and find 81 degrees and humid conditions.

We reached 106 two days ago in some Spanish cities including mine.

The worst part is that it in central cities like mine, it only goes down to around 90 at nights with no wind at all, that makes so hard to sleep well (specially if you have a fight every night with your wife about turning on/off the airco as she feels it's too cold).

Yesterday and today things are a bit better as wind is moving, but can't wait to move to the beach house in a couple of weeks, at least nights are fresh there.

We hit 91 yesterday with a forecast of 90 today. Must be that damn global warming everyone is talking about that is caused by us humans.

Or, it is just the natural order of things and comes and goes in cycles with a small amount of input from us. Meh, either way.

Its been an incredibly mild summer here...I can not remember another summer where we have not at least flirted with 100 several times by late June.

I hear it is much warmer in Argentina right now.

Boston is the new Seattle. I think it has rained every day for the past 2 months. I don't remember the last day the weather was above 80 degrees and my last three softball games I had to play in long sleeves..

I am still waiting for the Summer to come. Some days have been so cold it felt like March.

Unless you have a winter home in Miami (or somewhere suitably South), I'm not jealous

Why would I want one? Winter in the south is ugly, its barren with nothing to brighten the depression of death and decay.

Here we bury it under the snow and make it pretty

Besides who wants a green Christmas or New Years? its disgusting

It's like I always tell my wife. You can always bundle up more for the cold. You can take off everything including your underwear and still be hot. Hot sucks. But living anywhere but Texas sucks more ;- )

Based on the thread title and the part previewed I thought this thread was going to be like "yeah, it's summer -- why is it news everywhere that it's hot?" I guess I should have known better, since there was pretty much the same thread in winter about it being cold!

I just figured it was time to do the annual "it's summer/hot" thread since someone had to do it

It's gonna be at least 100 for the next 10 days out here. I looked at what the weather was like in San Diego and L.A. and it's gonna be in the mid 70's in L.A. and early 70's in San Diego.. bastards.

It's been in the upper 60's and low 70's this entire spring and summer. It hit 80 one time. Up until this past weekend, it hadn't rained in 29 straight days.

So yeah, it's been pretty damn nice here.

icy, this sounds oh so familiar to me. My wife has a problem with it being <=77F in the house and for me >=75F feels like a sauna to me..

ah well
