I think when you get banned you should be allowed a final post, kind of like the exit interviews on survivor or the final song on American Idol.

I had a question. I've made it clear that I've had problems with the way that discipline has been meted out around here, and I wanted to know if this was a banning for good reason, or just because the poster was causing trouble of one degree or another.

I still really don't know, but it sure seems that the concensus is that he was as deserving a candidate as any. I'm certainly willing to accept that ruling.

It does make me wonder about the subjectivity of the way the rules are applied around here. Seriously if you show up and start acting the ass, you get the ban. If you have been acting the ass for years, you are a fixture.

It wouldn't even require that much. In the past I started using a server that had it's IP banned and still had no trouble accessing the forum.

I've had a problem with the way discipline has been meted out on this board. I've been pretty up front about it. I've made my position pretty clear. I believe that less moderation is better than more moderation. I want to see moderation done in moderation. That was always my position, but I became more vocal after I had my own personal run in with the moderation of this board.

I didn't judge this banning. I actually still haven't. The question I did ask essentially boiled down to "Did he deserve to get banned for a concrete banable violation, or is this the result of the moderators coming to the conclusion that the poster had achieved some arbitrary level of annoyance?"

While it does seem to be the latter, It also seems that the consensus of folks believe he deserved it. I have no problem with that.
