NBA 2k15: Rebuilding the 76ers!

This story starts with the 2015 draft. We played most of our last season without Embiid and ended up with a 15 win season and the top chance for the #1 pick. Despite that, we were unfortunate and ended up with the #4 pick. We were torn between two athletic SF's. Our staff thought one was slightly better but erratic, so we went with the safer pick. Eugene Theus from Duke who is a very good defender already as well as a proficient scorer. The other SF, Jeffrey Augmon, is a scoring machine from Michigan State fell to us at 19 (from the Hornets), so we got 2 great building blocks.

Then, we got called to trade away Tony Wroten and a 2nd round pick for the #20 pick which we did to get a player our owner loved, a professional rebounding PF, Willie Rodgers, from Arizona State who has a great inside scoring game.

We traded away the Moultrie for the 29th pick to the Cavs. They also gave us the Hawks 2017 2nd rounder.

Our entire war room was united on taking J.J. Maggette, a 21 year old PF from Memphis who is 6'11 244 and was projected to go top 10 but fell due to injury concerns. However, he is a talented rebounder who averaged 15 ppg and 11 rpg last year.

With our 2nd round pick #46 overall, we select a PG, Darin Stocker, from Oklahoma State who is a decent shooter. The Nuggets wanted him and try to get us to trade him right away. We decline.

I get multiple calls from multiple teams who wanted this kid. He doesn't look great yet, but he could develop into a useful player.

A look at our team going into FA (With a lot of cap room):

PG Michael Carter Williams is a 23 year old 6'6 185 pound PG who is an all around play maker. He is rated 82 overall and has a lot of potential. He needs to continue to develop his outside scoring.

30 year old SF Luol Deng we got in a trade last year. He is rated 81 overall and is an all around SF who will be a veteran leader to our two young guys and will play some PF for us. This will likely be his last year with the team as he becomes a FA next year, but we will see...

SF Jeffrey Augmon fell to us at #19 because of concerns about his personality. He is rated 80 overall. He is 6'8 215 and is a "versatile offensive wing." Great athleticism and a good outside shot.

22 year old Willie Rodgers fell to us at #20 because of injuries concerns which I didn't know about because we didn't closely scout him. The guy has a lot of potential injury points. However, if he can stay healthy, he is an immediate quality starter for us who has a much better offensive game than our scouts thought. He is 6'9 250 and is rated 80 overall as a "offensive minded four."

SF Eugene Theus from Duke is 6'7 228 and is rated 78 as an "all around small forward." Our staff thinks he has higher potential than any of our other picks.

C Joel Embiid is 7'0 250 and is rated 78 overall as an "interior defender." He has excellent defensive and good rebounding ratings. He is only 21. He has the best upside on our entire team per the staff.

Nerlens Noel is 6'11 228 and is rated 76 overall as an "interior defender." He has major upside.

PF J.J. Maggette is a 6'11 244 pound PF who likes to faceup and can hit a mid range shot at times. He has concerns about his knees. He is rated 72 overall.

SF Jerami Grant is a former pick from last year who is developing nicely and is now rated 71 overall as a "two way wing." His best attribute is his athleticism.

PF Jarvis Varnado is a 27 year old PF who is mostly a rebounder at 6'9 230. He is rated 68 overall and will likely remain on the bench.

PF Brandon Davies is a 23 year old PF who is a raw prospect who won't play much unless we have injuries. He is 6'10 240. He is rated 66 overall.

PG Darin Stockton is 6'0 166 from Oklahoma Sate. He has solid athleticism and a decent outside shot. He is rated 66 overall as a "shoot first PG."

We have 33 million in FA and will be aggressive as we have our foundation to build around and don't need high picks any more (although we have traded some picks and have some potential high picks coming from other teams.)

Big name FA's:

Wow. LeBron opted out (didn't realize he could after 1 year but in this roster, he apparently can.) Still rated 98.

PG Rondo rated 87 overall.

PF Millsap rapted 85.

Monta Ellis is the highest rated SG at 83...

Jimmy Butler is a defensive SG specialist rated 81 overall...

I had LeBron on the 76ers in my 2k14 dynasty and I can't pass up offering him a max deal...

LeBron decides to take a max deal with the Hawks instead of our team. Poor Cavs jilted again. Crazy.

We do get a consolation prize as Ellis takes a 4 year 52 million dollar deal to join us.

That is the only major FA to join us. We also add C.J. Watson as a backup PG as I don't think Stocker is ready for significant minutes yet.

Post Training Camp News:

Deng has started to really show signs of losing a step. He takes a major step back.

Embiid has improved his defense and rebounding to near elite levels.

A look at our depth chart now:

PG MCW rated 82 overall now. Expected to play 30 minutes per night.
SG Monta Ellis rated 83 overall. Expected to play 30 mpg.
SF Jeffrey Augmon rated 80 overall. Expected to play 29 mpg (his personality is already demanding major minutes.)
PF Nerlens Noel is rated 79 overall expected to play 29 MPG.
C Joel Embiid is rated 81 overall expected to play 29 mpg.

SF Eugene Theus is rated 78 overall and is expected to play 28 mpg
PF Willie Rodgers is rated 80 overall and is expected to play 22 mpg (don't want to push him with his bad knees.)
SF Deng is rated 76 overall and is expected to play 18 mpg.
PG C.J. Watson is rated 74 overall and is expected to play 14 mpg.
PF Maggette is rated 72 overall and expected to play 10 mpg.

SF McDaniels is rated 72 overall and will play in garbage time.
SF Grand is rated 71 overall and will play in garbage time.
C Henry Sims is rated 71 overall and will play in garbage time.

PG Stockton is in the reserve spot for now.. He is rated 66 overall.
PF Varnado is rated 68 overall and is in a reserve spot.

They are 19th in offense, 24th in defenbse, and 25th overall.

They are starting:

They close it to 1 point game before Ellis has a steal and breakaway dunk to give us a 97-94 lead with a minute left...

i will be using the new quick sim feature where I can jump in if I want. I will quick sim 2/3 rds of my game and will jump in the 4th quarter if it is a close game...

Game 2: We are at Detroit and we are the consensus pick to win (media does this every game.)

Our defense dominated from start to finish. They were down by 20 going into the 4th and closed to make it a 108-100 win for us.

Augmon led us with 21 points on 7 of 11 shooting.

MCW with 18 points and 12 assists.

Embiid with 14 points, 7 boards in 30 minutes.

Ellis with 13 points, 4 assists, 2 boards, and 2 steals.

Noel with 12 points, 12 boards, and a block.

Deng with 8 points and 7 boards in 19 minutes.

Theus got 28 minutes and finished with 7 points, 5 boards, and 1 assist on 3 of 8 shooting.

Rodgers with 5 points and 5 boards in 18 minutes.

Watson with 5 points and 1 assist in 14 minutes.

Game 3:

Our home opener is the 2nd day of a back-to-back and it is against the Wizards. The Media is picking us to win this...

Our defense is challenged by Wall who helped them jump to a quick start. In the 3rd, our defense clamps down with a 25-12 quarter that gets us back into it. With 3 minutes to go, we are down 78-76 as I jump into the game (which is an awesome feature!):

MCW with a steal and breakaway dunk to tie it at 82 with 26 seconds to go.

Wall with a difficult tear drop in the lane with 3 seconds left.

We call T.O and set up a play... we run Ellis off a screen and he shoots at the buzzer and nails the 3!!! 85-84 win!

Ellis leads the way with 17 points on 7 of 13 shooting.

MCW with 16 points, 7 boards, 7 assists, and 4 steals.

Theus with 31 minutes (as Augmon was limited by fouls). Theus with 13 points, 7 boards, and 3 assists on 5 of 11 shooting.

Embiid with 12 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Deng with 10 points, 6 boards, and 3 assists in 20 minutes.

Augmon with 9 points, 2 boards, 3 assists, and a block in 24 minutes.

Rodgers with 4 points and 3 boards in 17 minutes.

Noel with 4 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, and 1 steal. He shot 2 of 10.

Watson with 6 assists in 15 minutes.

Our next game is hosting the Rockets who are the consensus pick to win.

The Rockets have the 3rd ranked offense, 22nd ranked defense, and 8th ranked roster overall. Their starting 5: PG Isaiah Canaan, SG James Harden, SF Trevor Ariza, PF Terrence Jones, and C Dwight Howard.

Embiid gets Howard into foul trouble early with a nice up and under attempt. Howard sits with 9 minutes to go in the quarter. We are down 5-4.

We are tied at 26 after 1.

We built a 34-26 lead but Howard came back in and Embiid was resting and Howard got 4 quick points on offensive putbacks and then they pounded it down low. 34-34 before I know it.

Back and forth quarter with us taking a 51-49 lead into halftime.

Ellis and Augmon lead us with 11 points. Noel with 10 boards at the half.

Harden with 9 and Howard with 8 points to lead the Rockets.

Harden with a run gets them a 6 point lead but MCW with a steal and dunk ignites our own run. We tie it up. We go into the end of 3 tied at 74.

Down the stretch, Howard kills us on the offensive boards. They build a 7 point lead, but we keep chipping away. With 12 seconds left Embiid makes a nice move in the post to get the basket and the foul. Down 97-96... and he misses the FT.

We intentionally foul Harden who only hits 1 of 2.

Ellis has been cold but he is our #1 option and we get him a shot.. he misses... and Embiid with a putback dunk! Tied at 98 with 1 second left!

Harden misses a buzzer beater and we are going to OT.

Augmon with a few big baskets as we trade baskets back and forth. Tied at 108 when Noel misses a post shot.

1 second left as Harden drives into the lane and kicks it out to Canaan for an open 16 footer which he swishes.

Ellis with a buzzer beater.... and it is long.

We lose 110-108 in OT.

Harden with 22 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists.

Ariza was the player of the game with 22 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals, and he played great defense all game.

Howard with 19 points, 14 boards, and 2 blocks.

Jones with 14 points and 12 boards.

Canaan with 7 points and 7 assists.

Augmon led us with 23 points, 4 boards and 4 assists. He shot 9 of 16.

Ellis with 20 points, 3 boards, and 4 assists. He shot 8 of 25.

Noel with 18 points, 16 boards, and 2 blocks. He shot 9 of 13.

Embiid with 16 points, 11 boards, and 2 blocks.

Theus with 10 points, 2 boards, and 2 assists in only 15 minutes.

MCW with 9 points, 2 boards, and 14 assists.

Deng with 6 points in 13 minutes.

Rodgers with 5 boards in 13 minutes.

Watson with 4 assists in 18 minutes.

Nov 4th:

We host the Heat and we are the consensus pick to win.

Before the game, the Lakers call me trying to get me to trade Embiid for Jordan Hill and the 1st round pick of the Jazz that they own. I turn them down.

Our defense dominates the Heat and we win 85-78.

Ellis led the team with 21 points.

MCW with 11 points, 7 boards, and 7 assists.

Theus with 9 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and 1 block.

We are now 4-1 and the Fans are fully on board. They are buying tickets at a sell-out pace.

Nov 6th -

We host the Bulls and we are predicted to win...

I should mention we hired a new coach this year who is a good defensive mind, Michael Goodrich.

The Bulls gave us trouble and jumped to 1st half lead, but our defense clamped down in the 2nd half and we eeked out a 87-85 win.

MCW led the team with 13 points, 10 assists, 5 boards, and 2 steals.

Deng, Theus, and Ellis each had 11 points. Noel and Rodgers with 10 points each.

Augmon shot 1 of 12 and appears to be in a cold funk.

November 8th -

We are now 5-1 as we travel to face the Raptors who are 4-2. The media likes us to win.

Interesting choice going with Ellis, I hope he's a better video game asset than real life asset

Their weren't any other good choices at SG. Of course, I could have played one of the SF's out of position there, but I didn't want to do that. He is a "volume shooter" who needs a lot of shots. He has the potential to be a top scorer on this team, but I'm sure he'll shoot us out of some games as well.

Nice! I'm reading with interest, holding off on buying the PC version at least until I beat Shadows of Mordor (and maybe until a framerate patch), but I'll almost certainly be picking this up at some point, hopefully I can learn a thing or two here

Before the game, I tweaked foul settings up a bit more and pass accuracy down a notch for both sides.

We get 2 quick fouls on Stokes to get him in trouble early.

At the end of 1, we are up 22-20. Rodgers with 2 nice offensive putback layups. The guy is a great scrappy rebounder.

We end the half on a hot note as Ellis heats up and hits a pair of 3's and a long 2 in a 2 minute span.

At halftime, we are up 52-46.

Rodgers is a beast on the offensive boards. Big putback dunk on a missed Ellis shot that gives us a 67-56 lead.

Our backups dominate the boards in the 3rd. We end with a 78-66 lead.

With a 95-78 lead and 3 minutes to go, we empty our bench.

Ellis with a very good game tonight.

We are now 6-4 and fan interest remains very high. Morale on the team is good.

Nov 18th -

We host the Knicks who are 4-5 and we are the consensus pick to beat them.

We crush them 111-78 as our defense dominates all game long.

Ellis with a season high 32 points on 11 of 17 shooting including 4 of 9 from the arc.

Augmon adds 17 points, 7 boards, and 3 assists.

MCW with a triple double, 16 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists.

In College News: USC combo guard Wilson Anderson is lighting it up and is now being mentioned as the #1 pick. Hmmm, a USC guy. Who could I trade to get him? ;-)

He is averaging 23.6 ppg and 9 apg and has a very good outside shot...

The Wolves just ended Thaddeus Young for 3 years and 28 million.

Nov 20th -

We host the Suns. They are 4-8 with injuries plaguing their team. We are the favored team.

Ellis shoots us out of the game with a horrible 5 of 23 night. We lose 97-83.

Embiid was 7 of 7 for 14 points.

Noel was 3 of 11 for 8 points.

MCW had 11 points, 8 boards, and 8 assists on 4 of 14 shooting.

The Suns were led by 26 points and 9 assists from Eric Bledsoe. Markieff Morris also added 15 points.

We go the Nets the next night. They let Paul Pierce go and are struggling at 4-9. We are the media pick to win the game. A look at their main players:

PG Deron Williams - 80
SG Joe Johnson - 79
SF Bohan Bogdanovic - 76
PF Khris Middleton - 75 (undersized PF who Noel should be able to abuse.)
C Mason Plumlee - 79

SG Jordan Crawford - 75
SG Xavier Henry - 75
C Timofey Mozgov - 72
PG Jarrett Jack - 71
PF Kevin Garnett - 71

I'll play that later today.

Tied at 21 at the end of 1. They jumped to a 12-6 lead but we fought back throughout the quarter as we backed off Williams and dared him to be a jump shooter.

We are up 44-42 at the half. Ellis leading us with 14 points. Very efficient night for him. Plumlee with 7 boards at the half.

Augmon with a huge 3rd quarter to help us get a 73-70 lead. I have to save the game after 3 (love that feature) as I've got daughter's gymnastics to get ready for.

What do you have your foul sliders at? I think 'sim' plays a good game except with fouls and turnovers, so I need to tweak those.

I have upped fouls by 10 to 15 for each one for both sides. I have turned pass accuracy down by 2 and like the results.

Our defense clamped down in the 4th and got us a few easy transition baskets to build a 10 point lead that we maintained throughout the 4th quarter. We cruise to a 100-93 win. Augmon was the player of the game. I am going to slightly tweak shooting percentages down as well as pass accuracy. I'm also going to up fouls a bit more:

Nov 22nd -

Eugene Theus tells me he thinks practices are much too easy. He wants to be the best player ever and he wants me to up the intensity in practice. I agree to do so.

Nov 23rd -

We host the Nuggets who are 5-7. We are favored to win the game.

The Nuggets hit bombs throughout the 1st half to build a 70-54 lead at halftime. We lose 108-87.

Gallinari led them with 24 ponts. Faried added 24 points and 14 boards.

Ellis shot 6 of 18 leading us with 24 points. Augmon and Deng with 12 points each. MCW with 11 points and 8 assists.

After the game, Noel lets me know he also wants the intensity upped in practice.

Nov 25th -

We host the Celtics

They are 4-10 and we are favored to win.

We lose 113-94. We had a very intense practice the day before. Was the team tired out?

We allowed a near season high 53% shooting. Bradley led them with 33 points on 10 of 13 shooting. Smart had 16 points and 7 assists. Sullinger added 15 points.

Ellis shot 9 of 22 for 23 points. Noel with 12 points and 12 boards. Augmon shot 4 of 14. MCW with 11 points, 7 boards, and 8 assists.

We are now 8-7 as we will host the Spurs on the 28th. They are 13-3 and are favored to win the game.

After the practice, Ellis and Watson both come to me and ask me to lower the intensity of practice.

A look at he Spurs talented starting 5:

PG Tony Parker - 86
SG Marco Belinelli -77
SF Kawhi Leonard - 86
PF Tim Duncan - 85
C - Tiago Splitter - 76

PG Cory Joseph - 75
SG Danny Green - 75
PF Boris Diaw - 75
PF Kyle Anderson - 73
PF Matt Bonner - 71
C Alexis Ajinca - 69

PG Patrick Mills is injured still.

Injury Updates:

Patrick Patterson is out for the year with a ruptured Achilles.

Wiggins has shoulder tendinitis that will slow him down for a few weeks.

Draft News:

Wilson Anderson of USC continues to be a consensus top 3 player. The 6'4 192 pound G is showing a great outside shot and the athleticism to drive into the lane.

The consensus #1 player at this point though is SG Stan Randolph from Clemson. He is 6'4 218 and has the best shot in the draft per scouts. His defense is questionable though. He is averaging 24.7 ppg and 7.1 rpg.

The Spurs are being led by Leonard's 17 ppg.

We are going to work hard to control him.

Ellis with a fast start to help us get a 13-11 lead as the Spurs call their first time out.

8 minutes left in the half: Bellineli hits a 3 to give them their first lead. Our guys are exhausted. I need to lighten up the practices a bit and also go deep into our bench this game. McDaniels, Grant, and Sims in for their first extended action...

Our shooting goes ice cold until Deng hits a jumper. Down 34-28.

Our offense falls apart and their 3 point shooters are making shots. Down 43-30 as we call timeout with 2 minutes left in the half.

A long drought until Augmon greats a breakaway dunk and the foul. Down 45-33.

At halftime, we are down 45-33.

Belinelli with 14 points to lead all scorers. He is torching Ellis (and Watson.)

The Spurs are picking us apart. Down 56-39 with 6 minutes to go in the 3rd. Their defense is stifling.

Grant with a steal and tremendous breakaway dunk that gets the crowd fired up. Down 60-47 with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd.

Down 64-51 at the end of 3. Ellis and Augmon are our leading scorers.

Bellinelli killing us from the arc. We are down 73-54 with 8 minutes to go.

4 minutes left: We close the gap to 12. Down 81-69 as MCW with a few nice plays.

We close it within 8 before Duncan gets put back to make it 85-75.

We lose the game 87-79.

Lordy...what the hell got into Belinelli.

I am curious about that 1st year draft. Was it supposed to be a deep draft class? You essentially walked away with 3 starting quality wings with in the 1st 20 picks. Granted, two of those wings have some some issues but unless it was a really deep draft I am surprised they dropped that far.

It was a fairly deep draft. 15 quality guys at least, although some of the guys with high floors are probably close to their ceiling.

Before the game, we have a trade to report:

The Wolves send Shabazz Muhamad and Kevin Martin to the Knicks for J.R. Smith and Quincy Acy.

The Wolves signed Rondo in the offseason and have an interesting group of players: Rondo (86), Wiggins (83), Rubio (81), Young (80), LaVine (80), Turner (78), J.R Smith (77), Bennett (77), Pekovic (77), Gorgui Dieng (77), Kyle Korver (74)

Time for our game against the Thunder. We are prepared to double Durant if he starts off hot.

MCW with a hot start but he is expending a lot of energy. We rest him with 6 minutes to go in the quarter. Tied at 12.

By attacking inside with our size advantage, we build a 28-24 lead at the end of 1. We got to the line 7 times that quarter which was key.

MCW with a nice steal and 2-1 in fast breakaway alley-oop to Theus to tie it at 43. Durant is having a rough night and that is because Theus and Augmon are constantly smothering him.

Durant with 6 quick points to end the half. We are down 51-47 at the half.

Westbrook with 10 points and Durant with 10.

Augmon with a SPECTACULAR put back reverse dunk to make it a 53-49 game early in the 3rd. That gets our crowd fired up.

But, Durant schools him the next play and blows by him for a dunk.

Ibaka, Durant, and Westbrook dissecting us now. Down 65-55.

Durant is really heating up. We are down 79-66 at the end of 3.

Embiid with a nasty dunk that fires up the crowed butwe are still down 83-73. We are doubling Durant and he is still making plays to kill us.

We try Deng on Durant and Durant is blowing by him.

Their defense is smothering us as well. We are struggling on both ends in the 4th.

Durant is picking apart our double teams with smart passes (I've had double teams work very well against other players.) They get some easy baskets and build a 20 point lead.

We close the gap late but it wasn't this close. We lose 102-91.

Durant was the player of the game with 25 points, 10 boards, and 4 assists. He shot 11 of 23.

Yeah, I'm already regretting signing him, but the crowd loves him and he has upped our attendance so I'm not shipping him out yet. We'll see if he can settle in. But, our top draft priority is a SG who can be a consistent outside threat.

We are now 8-11 and 1.5 games behind the Raptors in the Atlantic Division.

Dec. 5th -

We travel to play the Pacers. They are 9-10 as they have George back but he isn't the same player he was before the injury as he has suffered a loss of some explosiveness. We are favored to win...

We jump in as it is a 3 point game late. We are leading 78-75 with 4 minutes to go...

Embiid with a rebound at one end then a pick and roll dunk with MCW at the other. Up 80-75.

George misses a jumper and we get a fastbreak going... Augmon with a beautiful dime to Ellis for a dunk.

George with a jumper that is good. He has 31 points.

Noel misses a shot but helps force a miss at the other end.

Next drive, Noel draws a foul inside. He make 1 of 2 to give us the 6 point lead.

Ellis misses a jumper. Embiid with the offensive board kicks it out to Ellis who hits the jumper this time.

We get a stop and Noel hits a 12 footer. 87-77 lead in the last minute.

We win the game 87-79. Nice road win.

MCW is the player of the game: 12 points, 7 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 5 of 13.

Ellis led us with 24 points and 4 assists. He shot 8 of 16, 1 of 4, and 7 of 9.

Noel with 9 points, 12 boards, and 1 block.

Augmon with 8 points and 6 boards in 30 minutes. He shot 3 of 9.

Theus with 8 points, 6 boards, 1 assist, and 1 block in 23 minutes. He shot 3 of 6.

Deng with 8 points, 4 boards, and 1 steal in 20 minutes. He shot 2 of 2, 1 of 1, and 3 of 4 from the line.

Rodgers with 6 points and 6 boards in 17 minutes.

Embiid with 6 points, 7 boards, and 2 blocks in 27 minutes.

George shot 12 of 24, 5 of 9, and 2 of 3 with a game high 31 points. No one else on the team got into double figures.

Dec 9th, 2015 -

We travel to play the Hornets. They are 11-9 with a good starting 5. They are favored to win, but I like that we are well rested now. I think we'll take this.

We won every quarter except the 2nd when we were cold. A 33 point 4th quarter gave us the easy 99-80 win.

Embiid with his best scoring day of his career. 18 points on 8 of 11 shooting. He also had 10 boards and 2 blocks in 29 minutes.

Ellis with 17 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals. He shot 7 of 13.

MCW with 15 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, and 3 steals. HE shot 5 of 15.

Rodgers with 14 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, and 1 steal in 20 minutes. He broke his toe in the game but can play through it.

Deng with 10 points and 4 boards in 20 minutes.

Augmon with 8 points, 7 assists, 5 boards, 1 steal, and 1 block in 29 minutes.

Theus with 6 points, 4 boards, and 1 steal in 20 minutes.

Noel with a quiet night - 5 points, 4 boards, and 1 assist in 29 minutes.

The Hornets were led by 20 points from Walker.

David West with 16 points and Lance Stephenson with 16 points. Isaiah Thomas was held to a horrid 3 of 16 shooting by MCW.

In other news:

Top PG rookie Scot Jinks (drafted #3 overall) has been excellent. The former Michigan State PG had a game winner for Orlando against the Heat. The rookie is averaging 19.6 ppg and 5.9 apg on 50% shooting.

#1 pick Lazaro Alvarez has battled injuries this year but he is still averaging 12.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg, and 2.6 apg for the Kings.

C Preston Wagner who was a shocking #2 pick despite being the bestC in the draft is averaging 11.2 ppg and 4.7 rpg for the Suns. My staff thinks he was a huge mistake by the Suns and that he is already close to his ceiling. He has a 74 overall rating right now, by far the lowest of the top 10 picks.

Dec 11th -

We travel to play the Celtics. They are 7-13. They beat us 113-94 last time but we are favored to beat them this time. Our team is rested and ready to go.

Their starting 5: Smart (81), Bradley (79), SF James Young (74), PF Jared Sullinger (80), C Kelly Olynyk (74)

Their bench: SF Jeff Green (74), C Vitor Faverani (73), PF/C Marreese Speights (73), PG Phil Pressey (72), C Tyler Zeller (72), and PG J.J. Barea (71)

Nice to see an NBA 2k15 dynasty, is this the myGM mode I take it? I'm picking it up today for my PS4, was very interested in the myGM mode and the myCareer mode, I heard they really spiced up myCareer this time.

This is MyGM. I thought about MyLeague, but I like all of the player and owner interactions that are present in MyGM (the owner interactions at the very least aren't in MyLeague.)

That reminds me. My owner has placed some demands on me. I don't think I previously posted them:

- He wants us to get at least 20 home wins. We currently have 4.

- He wants us to sell out at least 14 home games. We've already sold out 11.

He thinks Eugene Theus is our best rookie. He wants us to play him a least 24 MPG over 54 games this season. He is currently averaging 25 mpg in 21 games played.

Speaking of Theus, he is complaining that the practices are too easy. I can individualize player workouts. I'm going to leave the team practices as fairly light and just up Theus a bit.

This Celtics team is rated 25th roster overall, while we are up to 9th. I expect us to dominate this game even in Boston. We are very well rested. Let's se what we can do.

This is how I envisioned us playing: Our defense is dominating, creating breakaways, and we are converting with athleticism. We are up 24-13 at the end of 1.

At halftime, we are up 49-35.

Embiid with 14 boards at the half! Ellis with 10 points to lead the team. MCW also with 10 points and 5 assists at the half.

At the end of 3, we would have a bigger lead if it wasn't for some sloppy turnovers. As it is, we are up 72-60.

A very clean 4th quarter as we cruise to the 98-76 win. Very happy with how our defense looked. They created a lot of transition baskets.

MCW is the player of the game with 20 points, 10 assists, 3 steals, 1 board.

6 minutes in: LeBron with some amazing passes. The Hawks are up 13-11.

Theus on 2 breakaways beats LeBron down the court for dunks. The fresh legs are tiring LeBron out.

2:20 - LeBron sits to rest. We are up 21-19.

At the end of 1, we are up 27-22.

We build a 8 point lead while LeBron is out, but he quickly cuts it to 3. Then, Augmon blocks a LeBron shot and goes on a tear for 6 points.

We take a 49-48 lead into the half.

Augmon leads us with 14 points.

Ellis with 12 at the half.

Rodgers with 8 points in 12 minutes.

MCW with 4 assists.

Horford with 10 points. LeBron with 10 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists at the half.

LeBron is going crazy in the 3rd quarter, torching Augmon. Time to double him.

He has them up 60-51.

Ellis with a 3 to make it a 6 point game.

LeBron rests and we make it a 1 point game but then our bigs get tired and Horford starts abusing Sims down low.

At the end of 3, we are down 73-68 but I rested my bigs for a few minutes and they should be fresh for the 4th.

LeBron making some great passes when we double him but guys aren't knocking shots down. We are down 75-74 and chipping away.

Wow. LeBron with a crazy behind the back bounce pass to set up a Horford dunk. They take a 84-79 lead.

MCW at the other end with a 12 footer.

2:30 left: My guys are all exhausted. Ellis misses an open 14 footer.

LeBron gets the board and takes it coast to coast. 91-85 lead.

PG Napier (78), Wade (82), SF James Ennis (73), PF Cody Zeller (76), and C Chris Bosh (82.) Their bench is led by Norris Cole (77) and Haslem (72)

With 4 minutes to go, we are down 78-73. I jump in to see if I can help us comeback. We did jump to big 30-15 lead in the first quarter but our shots have struggled since then.

2:20 - Embiid with a block that starts a fastbreak. Theus with a windmill jam on the other end. Down 80-77.

2:00 - Embiid with a board (after forcing a Bosh miss), we get our fastbreak going again. Augmon to Theus for a reverse dunk! 80-79.

Wow. They hammer us 70-31 at the half. My team is complaining about our staff. MCW and Watson think I'm wearing out the team and it is effecting their performances.

We lose 112-76.

Our offense is struggling to hit jumpers and they have some really good jump shooters. They jump to the early lead. 12-6.

We start pounding it inside and getting the lead cut down.

We are down 20-18 at the end of 1. Embiid leads us with 6 points.

Near the end of the half, had a beautiful showtime style sequence with Embiid rebounding it, passing it to Augmon to Ellis to MCW to Theus for a dunk without the ball ever touching the floor for more than 1 dribble.

MCW with a huge 2nd quarter to keep us in it. We are down 48-47 at the half.

Afflalo leads them with 13 points. Hickson with 6 boards. Lawson with 6 assists.

Ellis leads us with 12 points on 6 of 9 shooting. MCW with 11 points, 3 boards, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.

Our defense is smothering them early in the 3rd quarter. If it wasn't for a few bad passes on fast breaks, we'd be running away now. As it is, we are up 57-50 before MCW needs a breather.

Augmon with a huge dunk over Hickson.

Augmon steals it from Bojan and sets up Ellis for a breakaway dunk.

Ellis gets hot after that. 65-53 lead.

Ellis loses his man and allows an easy dunk. Ellis with a 14 footer at the other end.

Ellis on fire and Watson feeding him the ball for some easy assists. 72-55.

Ellis had an amazing streak of 9 straight shots. 20 points in the quarter before he misses a shot late in the quarter. We are up 83-67 at the end of 3.

They come out in the 4th doubling Ellis to cool him off.

Ellis with 12 footer with 4 minutes left to break the 40 point barrier. 41 points as we take a 104-82 lead.

With a 108-85 lead and 2:30 to go, we pull Ellis and most of our starters.

Ellis was the player of the game.

We travel to play the Wolves. Will we have tired legs? The Wolves are 14-15 and we are favored to win despite the tough travel. The Wolves starting 5 will make it tough:

Rubio (81), J.R. Smith (77), Wiggins (83), Thaddeus Young (79), and Gorgui Dieng (76). Their bench: Zach LaVine (78), Evan Turner (78), Anthony Bennett (76), Kyle Korver (73), and Corey Brewer (72.)

C Nikola Pekovic and PG Rajon Rondo are injured and won't play for them today.

Our defense was amazing early but we couldn't hit anything. We held them to a 31-29 half! We started making shots in the 2nd half while continuing our stifling defense. Guys are learning the system and playing some very good team defense.

We cruise to a 92-69 win.

Thad Young led them with 26 points and 9 boards. He shot 10 of 20.

We held Wiggins to 7 of 16 shooting for 18 points and 3 boards.

Rubio shot 2 of 8 and finished with 5 points and 8 assists.

J.R. Smith shot 4 of 19.

We held Dieng to 0 points and 5 boards.

Ellis shot 3 of 10 but was 12 of 13 from the line. He finished with 19 points and 4 assists.

MCW with a very efficient night for 19 points, 7 boards, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

Augmon with a 5 of 10 night for 15 points, 4 boards, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

Theus with 26 minutes played, 12 points, 3 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal, and he shot an efficient 6 of 8.

Embiid with 8 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks.

Deng chipped in 8 points in 22 minutes.

Noel with 5 points, 5 boards, and 2 blocks.

Rodgers with 6 boards in 15 minutes.

We are now 14-15. Our next game is at the Clippers on the 29th. They are reeling from injuries, particularly Paul's injury. They are 12-17. Their starting 5:

PG Goran Dragic (82), SG J.J. Redick (77), SF Matt Barnes (73), PF Blake Griffin (92), C DeAndre Jordan (82.) Their bench: Spencer Hawes (77), SG Jamal Crawford (76), PF Ed Davis (76), PF Carlos Boozer (76), and PG Kendall Marshall (74.)

Dunleavy and Paul are out with injuries.

In other news:

The media loves Shaun Buckner from Loyola Marymount. However, the media boards all project him as a 2nd rounder. The media are talking about him like he is a star. I'll have to take a closer look at him. He is a 6'1 170 pound 19 year old PG. He is averaging 15 ppg and 14 apg against inferior competition...

The Media is also raving about 6'8 230 pound SF Warren Washington from New Hampshire who is a dunking machine. He is averaging 17 ppg and 6 rpg and is projected to go late in the 1st.

USC combo guard has dropped to 8th on the draft boards. As I've scouted him more, I've lost some of the luster, but he would be a good late 1st round pick...

The top 3 on our board right now:

SG Stan Randolph from Clemson who is 22 and the most NBA ready right now.

SG Carspon Garner from Miami who is 19 and has the most potential.

SG Elton Verne from Maryland who is rising fast and is only 19.

I'm taking a closer look at all 3.

Around the NBA News:

Harden just scored 52 in a Rockets win.

Durant is leading the league at 28.3 ppg. LeBron isn't far behind at 28.1 although his assists numbers are down at only 5.1 per game.

Paul George isn't as athletic as he was before the injury, but he is scoring very well for the Pacers. He is averaging 26.5 ppg and 9.3 rpg.

Ellis is 19th in scoring with his 20.3 ppg average.

Curry leads the league with 9.3 apg. MCW is 7th with his 8.3 apg average.

Drummond leads the league with 13.1 rpg.

Embiid is 34th with a 8.6 rpg average.

Drummond leads the league with 2.2 bpg.

Embiid is 30th with a 1.2 bpg average.

We are tied at 78 as I jump into the Clippers game with 6 minutes to go...

The Clippers steal an errant pass and Griffin with a breakaway dunk.

Ellis misses as a shot and the Clippers with a 3 at the other end...

Griffin draws a 6th foul on Embiid with 4 minutes to go. We are down 86-82.

Jordan blocks a dunk attempt by Augmon.

Ellis misses a 3 that could have tied it and then gives up a 3 to Redick at the other end.

Down 96-90 with 1:30 left.

Ellis misses an open jumper. MCW forces a miss at the other end. Augmon earns 2 FT's and makes them.

Noel misses a shot in the post. We have to foul.

We lose the game 100-94.

Griffin led them with 25 points on 9 of 15 shooting, 7 of 8 from the line.

Goran Dragic added 24 points and 6 assists. He shot 9 of 19, 2 of 4 from the arc.

Redick with 16 points for them.

MCW led us with 16 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 6 of 12.

Theus with 14 points on 6 of 12 shooting. He also had 6 assists.

Augmon with 13 points, 6 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals, and a block. HE shot 3 of 9 but was 7 of 8 from the line.

Noel with 12 points.

Ellis shot 3 of 16. Grrrr.

Maggette with 9 points and 3 boards in 12 minutes.

Deng with 8 points. Watson with 6 points and 3 assists.

Embiid had 6 points, 10 boards, and 4 turnovers in 24 minutes as he was limited by fouls. He shot 3 of 9.

We are now 14-16. Our next game is on 1/1/16 as we travel to play Phoenix. They are 8-25 with a rough roster that is limited with injuries. We are heavily favored...

Their starting 5:

PG Eric Bledsoe (82), SG Tyler Ennis (73), SF T.J. Warren (74), PF: Markieff Morris (80), and C Preston Wagner (74.)

Their bench: C Miles Plumlee (76), SF Marcus Morris (75), SG C.J. McCollum (76), C Alex Len (73)

Before the game we get reports from our scouts. They have fallen in love with Omar Ortiz, a 19 year old SG from Mexico who is 6'6 220 and has a "great outside shot with potential to be an all-star every year." He is projected to go in the top 5.

They also like Elton Verne, a 19 year old SG from Maryland who is averaging 25 ppg but they think he is close to his ceiling already.

Before the game, my owner gave me a new goal: "Embiid is the cornerstone of our franchise, make sure you keep him happy this year (morale above 80.)

I tell my coaches to make sure he gets more touches.

I also set fouls even higher (maxed out) before this game.

Ellis comes out firing... and making shots. Quick 6 points for him.

Embiid gets 2 quick fouls on Preston...

Ellis is on fire... hitting everything. Even a quick 3 off a great screen from Noel.

Ellis with 22 points in the 1st quarter! We are up 34-20 at the end of 1.

Ellis is 10 of 10 from the field in the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd, Ellis is tiring badly and misses 3 shots. I give him a breather. We are up 42-27 with 7 minutes to go in the half.

Embiid gets a 4th foul on Preston Wagner with 6 minutes to go.

We are up 60-43 at the half. Ellis with 25 points at the half. Embiid with 12 points and 9 boards at the half.

MCW with 9 assists (many to Ellis on jumpers.)

We built a big lead in the 3rd quarter but when we rested our starters, they closed the gap a bit. Watson with a buzzer beating 3 (that had to be reviewed) to give us a 84-68 lead at the end of 3. Ellis cooled off but we got some contributions from everyone.

With a 20 point lead and 4 minutes to go, I pull my starters. We lead 98-78.

Grant with a few nice baskets in garbage time. The kid is very athletic.

We win the game 106-86.

Ellis is the player of the game.

We have the 2nd half of a back-to-back road game as we travel to play the Lakers. They are 12-21 and struggling with injuries to their starters and a very diminished Kobe who is now rated 79 overall...

We jump to an early lead and it never really gets close. Our young legs totally blow them out in the 2nd half as we outscore them 70-37 in the 2nd half for a 111-79 win.

Ellis led us with 21 points and 7 assists on 8 of 16 shooting.

Augmon with 20 points and 4 assists.

Theus with 15 points, 6 boards, and 2 assists on 6 of 11 shooting.

Embiid with 13 points, 10 boards, 2 blocks. He shot 5 of 8. I'm telling the coaches to work on getting him more touches.

MCW with 12 points, 11 assists, and 5 boards. He shot 4 of 8.

Noel with 10 points, 5 boards, 5 steals, and 2 blocks. HE shot 5 of 5.

Deng with 10 points and 4 boards in 21 minutes.

Kobe led the Lakers with 17 points on 7 of 18 shooting.

Nic Young had 15 points on 4 of 8 shooting.

Randle with 7 points and 4 boards in 31 minutes.

The Pelicans just signed Ryan Andersen to a 2 year 18 million dollar extension.

Mike Conley signed a 2 year 24 million dollar extension with the Grizzlies.

1/4/16 -

We host the Cavs who are 20-13 behind a huge season from Love who is their clear #1 scoring option with LeBron gone. The Cavs have a talented starting 5 with the only real hole at SF. They are favored to beat us...

Before the game, the Cavs announced that Dion was hurt in practice yesterday and he won't play today. That helps...

My plan was to try to run the Cavs out of the building but they are slowing things down. We are tied at 85 with 7 minutes to go... time to jump in.

Ellis has fouled out of the game and so has Augmon. We are a bit short handed here...

Theus with a pair of baskets to give us a 91-89 lead.

Irving draws FT's on 2 successive trips down the court and gives them the lead.

Noel with a nice move for a dunk to tie it at 95 with 1:30 to go. Waiters comes off a screen and hits a 12 footer.

Embiid with a quick move in the post for a basket at the other end. Tied at 97.

Irving with a great move to get a floater in the lane. 99-97.

MCW misses a jumper and they get a fast break dunk by Waiters.

Noel draws a foul on Love but he misses the FT's. They get the board and we have to foul with only 24 seconds left...

Theus fouls out.

They make their FT's. Embiid with a quick basket and we have to foul.

They make their FT's and MCW misses a quick 3. It's over.

We lose 106-99.

Love was the player of the game with 24 points, 13 boards, 4 assists. He shot 8 of 14 and 7 of 9 from the line.

Waiters with 20 points and 3 assists. Irving with 19 points and 7 assists. Vucecic at center with 12 points and 12 boards.

Theus led us with 22 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, and a block. He shot 9 of 16, 3 of 6, and 1 of 1.

Embiid with 17 points, 13 boards, and 1 block. HE shot 6 of 12 and 5 of 7 from the line.

Noel with 14 points, 5 boards, and 3 blocks. He shot 7 of 13.

Rodgers with 12 points and 4 boards in 16 minutes.

Deng with 8 points, 5 boards, and 1 assist in 20 minutes.

Ellis shot 5 of 17, 0 of 3, and 0 of 0. He finished with 10 points, 4 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 turnovers.

Augmon fouled out in 17 minutes. He finished with 8 points and 1 board.

MCW with 4 points, 9 boards, 10 assists, 3 steals, and 4 turnovers. He shot 2 of 8.

We are now 16-17. Our next game is hosting the Pistons on the 6th. They are 19-16 despite a relatively weak roster. They are favored to win but I think we have more talent:

PG Brandon Jennings (81), SG Wesley Matthews (79), SF Tony Mitchell (70), PF Greg Monroe (82), and C Andre Drummon (85).

Their bench: PG D.J. Augustin (77), SG Jodie Meeks (75), SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (75), SF Josh Smith (74), C Samuel Dalembert (73)

At the end of 1, we are up 26-24 behind a strong quarter from Ellis who has 10 points and 4 assists.

We rest MCW for 4 minutes of the 2nd quarter and Watson and company turn it over a few times allowing Detroit to build a 10 point lead.

We go into the half down 54-45.

Ellis with 12 points to lead us. MCW with 6 assists to lead us.

A tough 3rd quarter as my starters are fatigued and getting outhustled. We go to our 2nd unit and they close the gap a bit. Down 77-68 at the end of 3 after being down by 16 at one point.

We close within 5 with 2 minutes to go then Ellis misses an open 3.

Jennings finds Monroe for an interior basket. Embiid with a quick basket on the other end.

We foul. They make their FT's. Ellis with a quick 2 (his foot was on the line.)

They make their FT's ending the game essentially.

We lose 101-96.

1/8/16 -

We travel to face the Celtics who are 13-22 and struggling in their last 10. We are favored to win...

It is a close game but Augmon hits a last minute jumper to seal it! We win 108-105. Augmon led us with 20 points and 8 boards.

Ellis with 19 points and 8 assists. MCW with 14 points, 14 assists, and 4 boards.

Embiid with 14 points, 9 boards, and 2 blocks.

Theus with 14 points and 4 boards.

Noel with 8 points and 4 boards. He hurt his knee this game but can play through it.

We will play Noel less minutes while he recovers. It appears to only be a minor bruise though.

1/9/16 -

We come back home to host the Bucks as part of the 2nd night of a back-to-back. They are 21-17 behind their young potent lineup even with Jabari Parker hurt: PG Knight (81), SG Gene Hall (who we considered with a high 1st round pick now a 78), SF Giannis Antetokoumpo (76), PF John Henson (75) and C Larry Sanders (80). Their bench is led by SG O.J. Mayo (75)

We POUND the ball inside on them early and do major work building a 63-30 lead at the half. We cruise to a 126-88 win! We are now 18-18!

Augmon led us with 30 points, 6 boards, and 4 assists. He shot 11 of 19.

Ellis with 25 points and 7 assists. He shot 9 of 16.

Embiid with 19 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, and 3 blocks. He shot 6 of 8 from the field and 7 of 7 from the line.

Rodgers with 17 points and 5 boards off the bench in 22 minutes.

MCW with 11 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists. He shot 5 of 9.

Noel had his worst game - in 19 minutes he scored 0 points, 1 board, and 2 blocks.

Theus with 6 points, 12 boards, and 6 assists off the bench.

Deng with 8 points and 8 boards in 20 minutes. I thought about trading him but his salary comes off the books next year...

Watson with 8 points and 1 assist in 15 minutes.

Some news from around the league:

Nicolas Batum signed a 3 year 25 million dollar extension with the Trailblazers.

Durant and Carmelo were the players of the month for December.

My favorite combo guard from USC, Wilson Anderson had a great month and is now being projected top 3 in the draft. He is averaging 23 ppg and 9 apg.

Upcoming FA's (as of now):

Howard - 30 years old - rated 91.
Lance Stephenson - 25 years old - rated 87 (might be a good fit...)
PF Tim Duncan - 39 years old - rated 85
SG DeRozan - Former USC star is lighting it up. 26 years old. Rated 85 overall. If I don't get my USC rookie, he will be really hard for me to pass up

Wiggins - 20 years old - rated 84. I assume the team will use their option on him so he will disappear from the list.

PG Kemba Walker - 25 years old - rated 84.

PF Julius Randle - 21 years old - rated 84 - I'm sure team will use their option.

SG Kobe Bryant - 37 years old - rated 82.

MCW - we will use our team option on him.

G Stan Randolph is projected #1 overall. He is 6'4 220 and is tearing it up for Clemson. Our staff says this about him:

He is a supremely skilled ball distributor with great skills to find he open man. He can drive the lane and score when he gets to the basket. He has the potential to develop into something truly special. His weakness is his defense and post game. He also has some character concerns. He is averaging 24 ppg, 7 rpg, and 4 apg.

I had a long write-up that got lost to a computer malfunction. Ditto for the nice chart.

A brief summary:

Charlotte was tough early behind Kemba Walker off the bench, but we fed the ball into the post patiently and it got us some easy baskets. We were tied at 43 at halftime.

In the 2nd half, MCW took over the game, hitting some huge shots to build a 10 point lead which we had most of the half. We won 84-76.

MCW with 20 points, 7 assists, 3 steals, and he shot an efficient 7-14 and 6 of 7 from the line.

Ellis with 16 points on 7 of 14 shooting. Embiid with 12 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks.

Noel with 2 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks.

Augmon with 12 points, 4 boards, and 3 assists.

Theus led our bench with 6 points, 6 assists, and 2 boards.

Walker had 26 points for them off the bench. We held their starting guards to a combined 5 of 30 shooting as MCW did a great job.

1/13/16 -

We host the Raptors. We are favored but will we be tired from the game last night? This is a great chance for us to see DeRozan in person and see if he will fit our team next year...

We jump to a big lead behind hot shooting from Ellis.

We have a 60-40 lead and we never let them get close as we win 109-85.

Ellis got hurt in the game and left in the 3rd quarter. He finished with 25 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists. HE shot 7 of 10 and 8 of 10 from the line.

MCW with 18 points, 8 boards, 12 assists, and 2 steals. He shot 7 of 20.

Theus led our bench with 18 points and 5 boards. HE shot 9 of 13.

Augmon with 10 points, 10 boards, and 5 assists.

Rodgers with 10 points and 5 boards.

Maggette with 8 points and 3 boards.

Deng with 4 points and 4 boards.

Embiid was 1 of 7 and finished with 4 points, 6 boards, and 3 blocks.

Ellis hurt his ankle but can play through it. We'll cut back his minutes until it is healed.

1/15/16 -

We host the Mavericks who are 12-25 and struggling horribly with injuries. Dirk is their best player and he is a shadow of himself. Tyson Chandler at 75 overall is their 2nd best player in the starting lineup.

Augmon schools their starting SF as he beats him in every phase to lead us to an easy 120-85 win...

Augmon with 26 points, 6 boards, 3 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. He shot 11 of 20 and 4 of 8 from the arc.

Theus added 18 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. He shot 7 of 14.

Ellis with 18 points, 4 boards, 4 assists as he shot 6 of 17.

Rodgers with 18 points, 14 boards, and 2 assists in just 24 minutes. Wow. He is pushing for starting playing time...

MCW with 11 points, 4 boards, 14 assists, and 4 steals. He shot 4 of 9.

Noel with 10 points, 8 boards, and 3 blocks. HE shot 5 of 8.

Embiid shot 2 of 6 and finished with 4 points, 11 boards, and 3 blocks.

Deng with 6 points and 5 boards.

Watson with 6 points and 3 assists.

We held Dirk to 6 of 16 shooting for 17 points and 7 boards.

Chandler was held to 2 of 8 for 6 points and 9 boards.

WE now have a 5 game win streak. We are 21-18 and fans are fully on board. We are sold out at home.

Our next game is traveling to play the Pacers on the 16th. Their starting 5:

PG Beverly (74), SG Stuckey (75), SF George (88), PF Asik (73) and C Hibbert (80)

SF Gerald Green (76) leads their bench. Rest of their contributors: C Mahinmi (75), SG Nick Johnson (73), SG C.J. Miles (71), SF Solomon Hill (69), SF Caron Butler (69)

PG George Hill is injured.

After the game, Deng comes into my office and tells me he wants more minutes on the floor.

Deng is not happy with my reply that he has to earn more minutes if he wants them. Later in the night, he complains to the media.

Defenses are both dominating early, but George is heating up by 4 minutes in.

Embiid going right at Hibbert getting an early foul.

After missing his first 5 shots, Ellis gets to the line with 2:30 to go in the quarter. We are down 16-12.

Ellis hits a few shots in quick succession after a slow start. Suddenly, we have a 20-18 lead.

At the end of 1, we are tied at 20.

Embiid with a big half as we take a 45-41 lead into halftime.

Ellis on fire to start the 3rd quarter and we go on a 10-0 run.

They are doubling Ellis now to try to slow him down and he is finding open men for baskets.

Midway through the 3rd and Ellis is up to 25 points as we build a 15 point lead.

Great basketball at both ends of the court. We are up 78-57 at the end of 3.

Our defense has been phenomenal this game. With 3 minutes to go and a big lead (92-70), I empty the bench.

We win the game 99-79.

1/18/16 -

We travel to face the Magic who are 18-22. We are on a nice winning streak and everyone is picking us to win this one...

We have a 40-18 advantage in the 2nd quarter to take a HUGE lead and cruise to a 125-90 win.

Augmon led the way with 19 points and 8 boards.

Theus with 18 points, 7 boards, and 5 assists.

Deng with 16 points.

Ellis with 14 points and 7 assists.

Embiid with 13 points, 8 boards, and 3 blocks.

Maggette with 12 points. MCW with 10 points, 8 boards, and 14 assists.

Noel with 10 points and 7 boards.

Rodgers with 10 points and 5 boards.

Tobias Harris led them with 26 points. We held Rudy Gay to 7 of 17 shooting. Their star Rookie PG Jinks was held to 4 of 18 shooting although he had 7 assists.

1/20/16 -

WE host the Nets who are 16-25. We are favored as we are riding a 7 game win streak...

Before the game, the Bucks GM calls us. He offers us Rookie SG Gene Hall (78 rating), C Larry Sanders (80) for Embiid and Grant. I turn him down.

We outscore the Nets 61-34 in the 1st half as our team defense is rounding out very nicely now. We cruise to the 114-85 win.

Ellis led us with 37 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. He shot 13 of 20, 3 of 6 from the arc, and 8 of 8 from the line. However, he suffered a hyper extended shoulder during the game.

MCW with 21 points, 9 boards, 10 assists.

Theus with his first career triple double! 20 points, 12 boards, and 10 assists.

Augmon with 19 points.

Rodgers with 7 points and 6 boards.

Embiid with 6 points, 9 boards, and 2 blocks.

Deng with 2 points and 3 boards in 16 minutes.

Maggette with 2 points, 2 boards, and a block.

Noel with 0 points (0 of 5 shooting), 7 boards, and 2 blocks.

The Nets played without an injured Garnett. They wre led by 16 points from Jordan Crawford. Javale McGee added 15 points and 10 boards.

Deron Williams shot 2 of 12 and had only 3 assists.

Joe Johnson had 14 points on 5 of 13 shooting.

After the game, our trainer says this shoulder could become severe if we play Ellis although he can play through it. He gives it a go at practice the next day and he just can't shoot. We are going to be resting him for at least a few weeks, maybe a few months..

Rookie Darin Stockton might get a few minutes in games now...

Theus will start at SG.

Our next game is hosting the Raptors on the 22nd. They are 21-21 and we are favored to win. We beat them 109-85 in our last game on their court.

Without Ellis, our team talent rating drops considerably. The Raptors are now favored to win...

Theus responds with a MONSTER 1st quarter. Nice jumpshots, good post game, making plays. He was the key to our 28-21 lead.

Our size inside is setting up plays. Great rebounding advantage as well. We are up 44-37 at the half.

Mid 3rd quarter: Noel with a block, Theus gets it to MCW to Augmon for an easy dunk. Augmon has had a tough game. Hopefully, that gets him going. Regardless, we are up 54-39 as our defense is smothering them.

At the end of 3, we are up 71-50.

With 4 minutes to go, we have a 87-61 lead as I empty the bench. Our defense is playing amazing!

We win the game 91-67.

Embiid is the player of the game.

Our 2nd game in a row as we travel down to New Orleans to face the Pelicans and their talented center Anthony Davis. Holiday and Davis are both stars on their team but they are only 19-23. We are predicted to keep our streak going....

The Pelicans jumped to an early lead but we hada 71 point 2nd half vs 46 for them to take the 121-106 win!

MCW led the way with 25 points, 14 assiss, 8 boards, and 3 steals.

Theus with 20 points, 9 boards, 5 assists.

Rodgers with 19 points and 7 boards off the bench.

Embiid with 16 points, 14 boards, and 2 blocks. He shot 6 of 11 and 4 of 8 from the line.

Augmon added 10 points in just 18 minutes as he got into foul trouble.

Watson with 11 assists in 24 minutes off the bench.

Noel with 7 points, 6 boards, and 2 blocks.

Holiday led the Pelicans with 20 points and 10 assists. Davis got injured in the game and only played 24 minutes. In the 24 minutes, he scored 17 points and had 7 boards.

Davis will be out 4-6 weeks with a severe ankle sprain.

We now have a 10 game win streak and chemistry is really coming together...

After the game, Embiid comes to me and praises for me giving him a great opportunity to succeed. He is very grateful for all of the players around him. I love this kid!

1/25/16 -

We travel to Dallas. They are 14-29 with a fading Dirk Nowitzki as their best player...

Before the game The Wolves call me.. they want to trade Rubio and their upcoming 1st round pick for Embiid. I pass.

Dallas jumps to a 1st half lead, but in the 2nd half, we run them out of the building with our young legs. We win 120-101. We are running at all opportunities now.

Theus complains after the game that we need to work harder in practice while K.J. McDaniels complains I'm working the team too hard. I tell both that I'll leave the intensity where it is.

In draft news, combo guard Wilson Anderson of USC has been tearing it up the last month and is now being talked about as the #1 pick overall. He is averaging 24 ppg and 9 apg. I'd love to add him...

1/27/16 - We host the Pacers. We beat them 99-79 a few weeks ago and they have the same guys this game...

The Pacers come out strong with George and Green hitting shots. We are down 23-20 at the end of 1.

George is playing great basketball and Hibbert is rebounding strong but our team is hanging tough despite Embiid and Noel seeming to be dragging tonight.

We are down 44-43 at the half.

MCW leads us with 16 points at the half.

The team is exhausted but they are still playing good defense and getting some shots to fall. Down 64-63 at the end of 3.

I rest all of my starters for 7 minutes in the 4th except for Augmon. He leads the young athletic group including Grant and McDaniels and we play a highly aggressive defense and it works as our fresh legs create plays. We are up 76-74 as I bring back our relatively rested starters although Augmon has to sit (and Deng comes in for him.)

With 1:21 and only a 1 point lead, Theus with a nice move to get open and hit a 12 foot jumper. 80-77.

George drives inside but Embiid alters the shot and he misses it.

With 15 seconds left and a 1 point lead, Noel misses a hook shot. Hibbert with another board.

Deng with a steal! They have to foul!

He makes 1 of 2 FT's. 81-79 lead...

With 2.5 seconds left... George gets an open look at a 3 and buries it.

Augmon gets a good look but misses a 16 footer and we lose the game.

George was the player of the game:

Reading a lot of reports about MYGM becoming too easy down the road (10 or so years into the GM) when the GM gets to very high levels. Also, I'm reading some issues with draft classes being too strong. Unless the upcoming patch addresses both of those issues (won't know until the patch is released in 10-14 days), I will be restarting with a "MyLeague career" which doesn't have any GM boosts and also allows me to change the "quality of draft class" slider each year as needed. If so, I'll be posting a new dynasty, although I think I will take a higher level look at the league and only post key games in more detail.
