If you notice any mistakes below, please let me know and I will fix them. Otherwise, let's go...

2007 PRE-DRAFT LOOK AT THE DRAFTEES

Before we get to the draft, let's take a closer look at the draftees and their strengths (and some weaknesses).

2B Kuji "The Dog" Chagulia (#18)
USER: bbgunn
Birmingham, AL, USA
May 18, 1989
5'8", 180
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Potential to hit for power and draw walks. A great base stealer. Above-average defensive 2B.

C Hideaki Tanaka (#8)
USER: Dark Cloud
Tokyo, Japan
May 8, 1989
6'2", 215
Bats left, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Superb defensive C who will eventually be among the best at his position in terms of hitting for power. Will be an above-average contact and gap hitter as well. Very slow. A hard worker.

SP Rob Nielsen (#21)
USER: Coffee Warlord
Palm Springs, CA, USA
October 4, 1989
6'1", 183
Bats left, throws left

SCOUT NOTES: A natural-born leader who is very loyal. His stuff has huge potential. Could probably do well against your average major league batter right now. Possesses a sinker, curveball, and changeup.

CF Zinto Hirdt (#17)
USER: Zinto
Royal Oak, MI, USA
March 17, 1989
6'4", 220
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: This guy will be able to do everything but hit for power. Smart bat (although a bit raw right now), an extremely fast runner with base-stealing skills, and superb fielding abilities. Works hard, although he'll never be a leader.

SS Will "The Real Deal" Brown (#7)
USER: vex
Tulsa, OK, USA
July 13, 1989
5'7", 165
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: The Real Deal will be the real deal at the plate. He should be among the best at hitting for contact, avoiding strikeouts, and drawing walks. Has the potential to be a fabulous gap hitter as well. Average SS but can also play 3B well. A natural-born leader. Slow on the basepaths.

SP E Z Tyler (#7)
USER: PilotMan
Dayton, OH, USA
July 7, 1989
6'4", 211
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Although very raw, I see in Tyler a pitcher who can develop amazing control. Possesses a sinker and a changeup. A hot-blooded winner.

1B Buster "Boom Boom" Stallworth (#6)
USER: DeToxRox
Manhattan, NY, USA
December 5, 1989
6'4", 255
Bats left, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Very raw. Can be one of the best at hitting home runs, but will also strike out a lot. Loyal, smart player. Above average fielding skills at 1B.

RF Mike Schaplowsky (#3)
USER: collegesportsfanms
Wichita, KS, USA
August 29, 1989
6'3", 215
Bats right, throws left

SCOUT NOTES: Fast RF who will eventually have a high batting average year after year. Not a good eye, though. You won't be able to pick this guy off at first. Smart, hard-working player.

3B Micah Williams (#10)
USER: Recoil
Atlanta, GA, USA
August 18, 1989
6'3", 205
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Has the potential to be a great batter. Can hit for contact, but he will be excellent at drawing walks and hitting the ball where they ain't. Fabulous arm, but fielding skills need some work. A true winner who puts a lot of time into practice.

SS Eric Anderson (#22)
USER: cmp
Grand Rapids, MI, USA
February 12, 1989
5711", 177
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Will be able to really hit the ball, but needs to watch out for those strikeouts. Not speedy, but very smart on the basepaths and he will get his share of steals. Needs some fielding practice, but will one day have good range to go with his arm. A hard-worker.

LF Al Mighty (#32)
USER: thealmighty
Ft. Worth, TX, USA
October 31, 1989
6'2", 205
Bats left, throws left

SCOUT NOTES: Eventually, there is nothing this guy will not be able to do at the plate. An offensive genius, with baserunning skills and the ability to swipe bases. Hell, he can even sacrifice bunt. A good outfielder as well. Not a leader, but he will put time into practice.

3B Jace Hunter (#19)
USER: Travis
Edmonton, AB, Canada
March 29, 1989
6'2", 200
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Very raw, but will eventually be able to hit for power and contact. A great arm.

C Nicolas Fillion (#7)
USER: duff88
Chicoutimi, QC, Canada
December 16, 1989
5'6", 160
Bats left, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Has the potential to be the best defensive catcher in baseball. Average contact hitter, but he will be able to slam the ball out of the park almost at will.

CL Frank Justice (#22)
USER: mrkilla22
Sacramento, CA, USA
September 25, 1989
6'1", 200
Bats left, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: This guy's stuff will be lethal. Can also put some movement on his pitches. Possesses a slider in addition to his fastball which gets up to 95 mph. A good defensive pitcher. Nobody wants to win more than Justice.

SP James McDowell (#24)
USER: 51ichiro51
Seattle, WA, USA
December 8, 1989
6'1", 195
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Will be a great movement pitcher, although his control is below average. Possesses a splitter and changeup. This guy can pitch deep into games. Not exactly a leader, but very smart.

1B Dave O'Shea (#13)
USER: thehitcat
Worcester, MA, USA
June 11, 1989
6'3", 210
Bats left, throws left

SCOUT NOTES: O'Shea will be able to do everything at the plate except hit long bombs. A smart, loyal winner.

SS Dex Morgan (#5)
USER: AnalBumCover
Los Angeles, CA, USA
January 29, 1989
5'11", 185
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: We could be looking at the next Rickey Henderson in terms of basestealing. Could be the fastest guy in the majors once he gets there. Slightly above average contact hitter, but has great potential for hitting the ball into the gap. A decent defensive shortstop as well.

CL Ivan Carrillo (#25)
USER: Icy
Toledo, Spain
August 16, 1989
6'6", 240
Bats left, throws left

SCOUT NOTES: Will eventually have lethal stuff. Possesses a plethora of pitches: sinker, splitter, curveball, changeup, and a knuckle curve!

CF Willie Mays Hayes (#91)
USER: Dolemite73
New Bern, NC, USA
April 1, 1989
5'10", 190
Bats left, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Will be able to successfully hit for contact, power, and avoid strikeouts. A speedy player, Hayes will swipe many a base. One of the best arms I've seen in a while among outfielders. Not a leader, but works hard.

2007 MLB FIRST-YEAR PLAYER DRAFT

This is the day that our first 19 FOFCers realize their dreams of becoming professional baseball players. It's draft time! I've included below the top 10 draft picks (FOFCer and non-FOFCer), plus all other FOFC picks.... Well, at least that was the plan when I started. But, as you will see, the top 14 were all FOFCers anyway! I must have done something extremely right... or extremely wrong.

By the way, this file has the real 2007 MLB (and I think minor league) rosters, but all players in the draft pool will be fictional.

FIRST ROUND
1. TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS* - C Hideaki Tanaka
2. KANSAS CITY ROYALS - SS Will "The Real Deal" Brown
3. CHICAGO CUBS - CF Willie Mays Hayes
4. PITTSBURGH PIRATES - CF Zinto Hirdt
5. BALTIMORE ORIOLES - LF Al Mighty
6. WASHINGTON NATIONALS - SP Rob Nielsen
7. MILWAUKEE BREWERS - 3B Jace Hunter
8. COLORADO ROCKIES - 2B Kuji "The Dog" Chagulia
9. ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS - 1B Buster "Boom Boom" Stallworth
10. SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS - SP E Z Tyler
11. CLEVELAND INDIANS - SP James McDowell
12. SEATTLE MARINERS - RF Mike Schaplowsky
13. FLORIDA MARLINS - 1B Dave O'Shea
14. ATLANTA BRAVES - C Nicolas Fillion
19. PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES - SS Eric Anderson
22. LOS ANGELES DODGERS - 3B Micah Williams

THIRD ROUND
72. SEATTLE MARINERS - SS Dex Morgan

SIXTH ROUND
173. SAN DIEGO PADRES - CL Ivan Carrillo

FOURTEENTH ROUND
419. NEW YORK METS - CL Frank Justice

* - Yes, they are now the Tampa Bay Rays, but they were the Devil Rays in 2007. I'll change them to the Rays in 2008.

Now that the draft has taken place, I'll briefly explain how I'll run the dynasty. I will start out by doing monthly updates and see if that is speedy enough. In order to help make the updates as fast as possible, I will only report on news as it pertains to our FOFCers. I'll provide detailed statlines for each player at the end of a season, but during the season I'll provide just the basic stats, news, and whatever else jumps out at me.

Of course, if you have anything you would like to see here, please let me know.

Hmm...so I have to get a Tanaka Rays Jersey? (Maybe I'll find a St. Petersburg Pelicans one instead.)

Let's see if he manages to make the majors with them. So pumped to bring him back to life though. Thanks for doing this.

Thanks for the comments, guys. So Dark Cloud, tell me more about Tanaka's past life. Or maybe I can search for it myself!

I've decided to go somewhat bi-monthly from now on, in order to speed up the dynasty, at least until we get some guys into the majors. The sim schedule will go like this:

APRIL UPDATE
DRAFTEES PREVIEW
DRAFT
MAY-JUNE UPDATE
JULY-AUGUST UPDATE
SEPTEMBER UPDATE (to spend time on any call-ups)
PLAYOFFS AND WORLD SERIES
OFFSEASON NEWS

As for Season 1, I'm going to group July, August, and September into one update. Look for that within the next day or two.

Player Report for #8 Hideaki Tanaka - StatsLab for OOTP11

He was just basically the first real star in FOOL back when it started almost three years ago. He didn't even play for me, funny enough and I don't have anything to do with the league anymore and part of it is I can't really get past the guys from the first generation who are my perpetual favorites. This guy was one of them, I've recreated him in a lot of my dynasties since then.

So yeah, that's all.

We've simmed around 140+ years in that online league now and Tanaka still is on the top 3 list of my all time favorite players too!

CW, I'm not much better off. I'm with Seattle. But you know the drill in pro sports. The higher you are drafted, the worse team you play for. lol

Wow, that's some longevity there! With all the lore surrounding Tanaka, it's an honor to have him reincarnated here in this dynasty.

The Expos used to be my second-favorite team as a kid, behind the Braves. I loved those red-white-and-blue hats and the crazy "edb" logo.

TO ALL: I'm not totally sure right now, but I hope to get an update within the next seven hours.

2007 End of Regular Season Update - MLB Players

I'm sorry... today was quite busy, so I couldn't do a full update. Just a very short one, but this one is important, as one of our FOFCers has made the big leagues! Scroll down to see who...

C Nicolas Fillion (#7)
Atlanta Braves

USER: duff88
DEPTH CHART: bench, 3rd catcher
POPULARITY: unknown
CONTRACT: $350,000 (thru 2007)

Fillion, at the age of 17, becomes the first FOFCer to make a big-league roster. He must have made a hell of an impression on the Atlanta Braves. He had a decent month and a half in Mississippi. On August 9 the Braves promoted Fillion from AA to AAA Richmond. He didn't hit that well in six games, but on August 27 came the news that Atlanta had purchased Fillion's contract and placed him on the Braves' 40-man roster. The next day he was in south Florida, and he made his major league debut as a pinch hitter against the Marlins. Congratulations, Nicolas!

The Braves have a pretty good starting catcher, 23-year-old Brian McCann, who is light years better than Fillion at this point. That doesn't fare well for Fillion's chances to start at catcher in Atlanta, but the Braves may have some other ideas. Seven of Fillion's 16 Atlanta game appearances have been starts, and six of those were at 1B. The current 1B regular is 25-year-old Kelly Johnson.

2007 END OF REGULAR SEASON UPDATE - MINOR LEAGUERS

Finally, the rest of the updates. I've reordered the list of players according to where they are in the minor league pyramid.

CF Willie Mays Hayes (#91)
Tennessee Smokies (Southern League, AA)

ORGANIZATION: Chicago Cubs
USER: Dolemite73
DEPTH CHART: starting CF, batting 3rd
POPULARITY: well known (extremely popular locally)

On September 1st the Cubs promoted Hayes to AA Tennessee.

C Hideaki Tanaka (#8)
Vero Beach Devil Rays (Florida State League, high A)

ORGANIZATION: Tampa Bay Devil Rays
USER: Dark Cloud
DEPTH CHART: Starting C, batting 5th
POPULARITY: popular

SP Rob Nielsen (#21)
Hagerstown Suns (South Atlantic League, low A)

ORGANIZATION: Washington Nationals
USER: Coffee Warlord
DEPTH CHART: 1st in the rotation
POPULARITY: well known (popular locally)

Nielsen finished the season with the Suns. He made headlines in the minor league blogs on July 23rd, when he threw a 2-hit shutout while ringing up 11 strikeouts and no walks against the Lakewood BlueClaws, the Phillies' farm team.

LF Al Mighty (#32)
Delmarva Shorebirds (South Atlantic League, low A)

ORGANIZATION: Baltimore Orioles
USER: thealmighty
DEPTH CHART: starting LF, batting 1st/3rd
POPULARITY: well known

On August 1st Al Mighty was promoted from Aberdeen to low-A Delmarva, where he finished the season.

SS Dex Morgan (#5)
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Midwest League, low A)

ORGANIZATION: Seattle Mariners
USER: AnalBumCover
DEPTH CHART: starting SS, batting 6th/7th
POPULARITY: unknown

Morgan was promoted to low A on September 1st.

RF Mike Schaplowsky (#3)
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Midwest League, low A)

ORGANIZATION: Seattle Mariners
USER: collegesportsfanms
DEPTH CHART: starting RF, batting 8th
POPULARITY: fair

On July 31st the Mariners thought Schaplowsky worthy enough to promote up to Short Season-A Everett. On September 1st, the Mariners promoted him again, to low-A Wisconsin, where he finished the season as a teammate of Dex Morgan.

CL Ivan Carrillo (#25)
Fort Wayne Wizards (Midwest League, low A)

ORGANIZATION: San Diego Padres
USER: Icy
DEPTH CHART: closer
POPULARITY: unknown

Carrillo was promoted to low A Fort Wayne on September 1st.

LF Zinto Hirdt (#17)
Hickory Crawdads (South Atlantic League, low A)

ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh Pirates
USER: Zinto
DEPTH CHART: starting LF, batting 1st/3rd
POPULARITY: well known

On July 8th the Pirates brought Hirdt up to Short Season-A State College of the New York-Penn League. But on August 1st, they sent him back down to rookie ball in Florida. The movement continued for Hirdt as he was once again promoted, this time up to low-A Hickory, on September 1st, where he finished the season. Hirdt now plays left field.

SP E Z Tyler (#7)
Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Northwest League, Short-Season A)

ORGANIZATION: San Francisco Giants
USER: PilotMan
DEPTH CHART: 1st in the rotation
POPULARITY: well known

Tyler had a decent season in Short-Season A ball. He got some attention from the minor league blogs on August 24th, when he threw a five-hit shutout against the Yakima Bears (the Diamondbacks' farm team). He had one strikeout and one walk.

SS Eric Anderson (#22)
Williamsport Crosscutters (New York-Penn League, Short-Season A)

ORGANIZATION: Philadelphia Phillies
USER: cmp
DEPTH CHART: starting SS, batting 7th
POPULARITY: fair

A peculiar thing... Anderson was named the New York-Penn League Batter of the Month for July. But the news release that OOTP generated said that he batted .000 with 0 home runs and 0 RBI. Either the league has low standards or it was a bug in the game. Anyway, congrats. I don't keep monthly stats in the minors, but I'm assuming you batted higher than .000.

SP James McDowell (#24)
Mahoning Valley Scrappers (New York-Penn League, Short-Season A)

ORGANIZATION: Cleveland Indians
USER: 51ichiro51
DEPTH CHART: 1st in the rotation
POPULARITY: fair

1B Dave O'Shea (#13)

ORGANIZATION: Florida Marlins
USER: thehitcat
DEPTH CHART: starting 1B, batting 8th/9th
POPULARITY: fair

On September 1st O'Shea was promoted to Short Season-A Jamestown, where he finished the season.

3B Kuji "The Dog" Chagulia (#18)
Casper Rockies (Pioneer League, R)

ORGANIZATION: Colorado Rockies
USER: bbgunn
DEPTH CHART: Starting 3B, batting 5th
POPULARITY: well known

The Rockies have moved Chagulia to 3B, where he played the last 19 games of the season.

3B Will "The Real Deal" Brown (#7)
Idaho Falls Chukars (Pioneer League, R)

ORGANIZATION: Kansas City Royals
USER: vex
DEPTH CHART: starting 3B, batting 3rd
POPULARITY: well known

On September 1st the Royals sent Brown to a higher form of rookie ball. He finished the season in Idaho, where they moved him to 3B.

1B Buster "Boom Boom" Stallworth (#6)
Missoula Osprey (Pioneer League, R)

ORGANIZATION: Arizona Diamondbacks
USER: DeToxRox
DEPTH CHART: starting 1B, batting 2nd/5th
POPULARITY: well known

On August 1st the Diamondbacks promoted Boom Boom to Short Season-A Yakima, but they sent him back down to the Pioneer League on September 1st.

SS Micah Williams (#12)
Ogden Raptors (Pioneer League, R)

ORGANIZATION: Los Angeles Dodgers
USER: Recoil
DEPTH CHART: starting SS, batting 2nd/6th
POPULARITY: insignificant

Micah was shuttling between Odgen and the Dodgers' Arizona League team in 2007. Near the end of the season Micah was moved to shortstop. They also changed his number to #12.

3B Jace Hunter (#19)
Helena Brewers (Pioneer League, R)

ORGANIZATION: Milwaukee Brewers
USER: Travis
DEPTH CHART: starting 3B, batting 7th
POPULARITY: well known

CL Frank Justice (#22)

2007 Postseason Notes

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
The winner of the 2007 World Series was the Philadelphia Phillies. They defeated the L.A. Angels four games to two.

The Atlanta Braves (Nicolas Fillion) finished in 4th place in the NL East with a record of 68-94.

The MVP awards went to Boston DH David Ortiz (.331-50-138) and Philly 1B Ryan Howard (.348-61-153). The Cy Youngs went to Cleveland's CC Sabathia (20-11, 2.75, 211 K) and Philly's Cole Hamels (20-3, 2.20, 244 K). Rookies of the Year were Tampa Bay RF Delmon Young and Milwaukee 3B Ryan Braun.

In related news, Atlanta manager Mitchell Page - who took over for the Braves when Bobby Cox resigned mid-season - was fired. Fillion's new manager will be former major league reliever Rheal Cormier, who is above average with managing rookies.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
Southern League (AA)
The Tennessee Smokies (Willie Mays Hayes) finished first in their division with an 83-57 record. However, they lost in the first round of the Southern League playoffs to Huntsville three games to two. In those playoff games Hayes hit .444 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Florida State League (high A)
The Vero Beach Devil Rays (Hideaki Tanaka) finished 4th in their six-team division with a record of 67-73.

Midwest League (low A)
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Dex Morgan and Mike Schaplowsky) finished sixth in their 8-team division with a 62-78 record. The Fort Wayne Wizards (Ivan Carrillo) finished third in their six-team division with a record of 77-63.

South Atlantic League (low A)
The Delmarva Shorebirds (Al Mighty) made it to the league championship series, where they lost to Savannah in seven games. Mighty batted .250 in 10 postseason games with two RBI and four stolen bases. The Hickory Crawdads (Zinto Hirdt) finished third in their eight-team division with a 70-70 record. The Hagerstown Suns (Rob Nielsen), who are in the same division as Hickory, finished seventh at 60-80.

New York-Penn League (Short Season A)
The Jamestown Jammers (Dave O'Shea) finished second in their division at 37-41, while Mahoning Valley (James McDowell), who are in the same division, finished fourth and last at 33-43. The Williamsport Crosscutters (Eric Anderson) finished last in their division with a 33-43 record.

Northwest League (Short Season A)
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (E Z Tyler) finished second in their division at 45-31.

Pioneer League (R)
Two FOFCers made the playoffs in the Pioneer League in 2007. The Casper Rockies (Kuji Chagulia) lost to Great Falls three games to one, with Chagulia hitting .250 with one RBI and a stolen base in the four games. The Helena Brewers (Jace Hunter) did better, winning their first round matchup in four games over Orem to meet Great Falls in the championship. However, the Brewers lost in seven games. Hunter hit .176 with six RBI in the postseason. The Odgen Raptors (Micah Williams) finished third in their division (37-39), while the Idaho Falls Chukars (Will "The Real Deal" Brown), in the same division, finished last (27-49). The Missoula Osprey (Buster "Boom Boom" Stallworth) finished last in their division at 23-53.

Gulf Coast League (R)
The GCL Mets (Frank Justice) finished second in their division at 28-28.

A french speaking canadian as the new manager? There's nothing to worry about for Fillion, Cormier is going to be just fine.

Oh, I missed that Will Brown won a Gold Glove at SS for his time in the Arizona League. Sorry about that.

There were no trades or anything like that over the offseason. Look for Season 2 to start soon.

That's a decent season for the 18-year old stud E Z Tyler. The best stat was 1-HR allowed in 113 IP. The K/BB ratio isn't that great, but his development should ramp up next year.

Welcome to Season 2 of the FOFC OOTP Interactive Dynasty. It seems to be a waste to start a new thread when the first one is still so short, so we'll do Season 2 here as well. I'll probably start a new thread after Season 3.

We'll get to the Class of 2008 later, but first we'll update the first month of action for our current FOFCers.

If you want to sign up for the Class of 2009, head here:

2008 APRIL UPDATE - MINOR LEAGUERS
Yep, you guessed right... once again all of our players are in the minors (sorry Nicolas Fillion).

1B/DH Nicolas Fillion (#8)
Richmond Braves (International Lg, AAA)

ORGANIZATION: Atlanta Braves
USER: duff88
ROSTER SPOT: starting 1B/DH, batting 8th/9th
POPULARITY: unknown

Atlanta's hiring of a French-Canadian manager in Rheal Cormier did not help Fillion much, at least at the beginning of the season. He was sent down to AAA Richmond, where he has hit .315/.342/.356 in 21 games in April. Looks like the Braves are going to play Fillion as a 1B; what a shame, since Fillion is a brilliant defensive catcher.

CF Willie Mays Hayes (#91)
Iowa Cubs (Pacific Coast Lg, AAA)

ORGANIZATION: Chicago Cubs
USER: Dolemite73
ROSTER SPOT: starting CF, batting 3rd/4th
POPULARITY: well known (very popular locally)

Hayes has batted .237/.284/.276 in 18 starts. He has four stolen bases.

SP Rob Nielsen (#21)
Harrisburg Senators (Eastern Lg, AA)

ORGANIZATION: Washington Nationals
USER: Coffee Warlord
ROSTER SPOT: 1st in the rotation
POPULARITY: well known (popular locally)

In five starts Nielsen is 2-1 with an ERA of 2.48 and 49 K. He leads the Senators in all of those categories.

LF Zinto Hirdt (#17)
Altoona Curve (Eastern Lg, AA)

ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh Pirates
USER: Zinto
ROSTER SPOT: starting LF/CF, batting 3rd
POPULARITY: well known (fair locally)

In 18 games with the Curve Hirdt has batted .247/.313/.315. He is fourth on the team in batting average and third in RBI (9).

SS Will "The Real Deal" Brown (#7)
Wichita Wranglers (Texas Lg, AA)

ORGANIZATION: Kansas City Royals
USER: vex
ROSTER SPOT: starting SS, batting 2nd/4th
POPULARITY: well known

In 17 games Brown batted .254/.325/.310. But on April 28th he fractured hit foot in a game and will miss four weeks.

DH Al Mighty (#32)
Bowie Baysox (Eastern Lg, AA)

ORGANIZATION: Baltimore Orioles
USER: thealmighty
ROSTER SPOT: starting DH, batting 3rd
POPULARITY: well known

Mighty has not had any time in the field so far, but he is certainly getting wood on the ball. He's batting .325/.367/.434 with 9 RBI. He leads his team in batting average.

C Hideaki Tanaka (#8)
Vero Beach Devil Rays (Florida State League, high A)

ORGANIZATION: Tampa Bay Devil Rays
USER: Dark Cloud
ROSTER SPOT: Starting C, batting 2nd/6th
POPULARITY: popular (very popular locally)

Still down in Vero Beach, Tanaka is batting .105/.145/.158 with 11 RBI (! A lot of sac flies?!?)

RF/DH Mike Schaplowsky (#3)
High Desert Mavericks (California Lg, high A)

ORGANIZATION: Seattle Mariners
USER: collegesportsfanms
ROSTER SPOT: starting RF/DH, batting 3rd
POPULARITY: fair

Schaplowsky has hit .225/.267/.338 with 2 HR.

CL Ivan Carrillo (#26)
Fort Wayne Wizards (Midwest League, low A)

ORGANIZATION: San Diego Padres
USER: Icy
ROSTER SPOT: closer
POPULARITY: unknown

Carrillo made 8 appearances in April, with 5 saves, a 1-2 record, a 6.23 ERA, and 9 K.

SP E Z Tyler (#7)
Augusta Greenjackets (South Atlantic Lg, low A)

ORGANIZATION: San Francisco Giants
USER: PilotMan
ROSTER SPOT: 1st in the rotation
POPULARITY: well known

Tyler has a record of 4-0 in Augusta with a 1.20 ERA and 16 K. He leads his team in all those categories. He had a big game on April 10th against Charleston, when he threw a five-hit shutout with 3 K and one BB. His manager said after the game, "The more he throws, the better his command is."

SS/DH Eric Anderson (#22)
Lakewood BlueClaws (South Atlantic Lg, low A)

ORGANIZATION: Philadelphia Phillies
USER: cmp
ROSTER SPOT: starting SS/DH, batting 3rd
POPULARITY: fair

In 20 games Anderson has batted .224/.294/.250.

1B Dave O'Shea (#13)
Greensboro Grasshoppers (South Atlantic Lg, low A)

ORGANIZATION: Florida Marlins
USER: thehitcat
ROSTER SPOT: starting 1B, batting 4th/5th
POPULARITY: fair

O'Shea has hit .349/.385/.430 in 20 games in Greensboro.

2B Kuji "The Dog" Chagulia (#18)
Asheville Tourists (South Atlantic Lg, low A)

ORGANIZATION: Colorado Rockies
USER: bbgunn
ROSTER SPOT: Starting 2B, batting 7th
POPULARITY: well known

FOFCers continue to invade the South Atlantic League. Kuji was down in Arizona for extended spring training when on April 25th he was called up to the low-A Asheville Tourists. In six games Chagulia has hit .217/.280/.304.

SP James McDowell (#24)

ORGANIZATION: Cleveland Indians

Yeah, he is. But the Cubs must not have that much faith in their big league starting CF, some dude named Felix Unknown (?). He leads the team in batting average right now, and he is a good defensive outfielder. But once Hayes develops he will be a much better hitter.

2008 PRE-DRAFT LOOK AT THE DRAFTEES

Before we get to the draft, let's take a closer look at the draftees and their strengths (and some weaknesses).

CF David Gonzalez (#22)
USER: kingfc22
Fremont, CA, USA
December 21, 1990
6'2", 205
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Not many people are faster than this kid. Great glove and a good arm, too. Average hitter.

SP Ches O'Peake (#18)
USER: chesapeake
Arlington, VA, USA
February 26, 1990
6'1", 190
Bats right, throws left

SCOUT NOTES: Has a splitter, slider, and changeup. Will have great stuff and good movement on his pitches. Great at holding runners. A natural-born leader. Works hard.

3B Larry McGillicuddy (#13)
USER: larrymcg421
Palm Bay, FL, USA
April 21, 1990
6'1", 205
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Won't win any batting titles, but may very well win home run titles and lead the league in extra base hits and walks. Slow on the basepaths. Great leader.

2B Andrew Foley (#23)
USER: PackerFanatic
Milwaukee, WI, USA
May 23, 1990
6'3", 225
Bats right, throws right

SCOUT NOTES: Young Foley is extremely fast. A decent hitter and a great infielder. A team-first guy.

SP Deacon "Hurricane" Palmer (#21)
USER: ntndeacon
West Blocton, AL, USA
March 29, 1990
6'0", 195
Bats left, throws left

SCOUT NOTES: This guy could be the next great thing on the mound. He already has good movement and control, and he should be even better. Has a splitter, curveball, and changeup. Hates to lose.

2008 MAY/JUNE UPDATE - MAJOR LEAGUERS
That's right... one of our FOFCers has hit the big time. It's not Fillion, though (sorry!). Who is it? Scroll down to find out...

SP Rob Nielsen (#21)
Washington Nationals

USER: Coffee Warlord
ROSTER SPOT: 3rd in the rotation
POPULARITY: unknown (insignificant locally)
CONTRACT: $350,000 (thru 2008)

The Washington Nationals got Nielsen to the show, baby. After going 4-2 in Harrisburg with an ERA of 2.14 and 101 K in 12 starts, things began to look up for Nielsen when he was promoted to AAA on June 1st. He appeared in just two starts (1-0, 3.07, 23 K) before the Nationals purchased his contract from AAA Columbus on June 14th and put him on the 40 man roster. He would quickly make his way into the Washington rotation, behind Gregory Smith and John Danks. He has started three games so far, with a record of 0-2, 6.46 ERA, and 20 K. Here's hoping the 18-year-old Nielsen stays with the Nats.

You gotta be hurting if you have an 18-year old as your #3 starter.

Meanwhile, in Augusta, we are schmoozing with the right people, and promise that when we get our first big payday, we will come back and tame that golf course.

"E Z, because he makes pitching look that easy."
