Guys, here's excellent mod's done by our own Groundhog that will get you real logos and all international leagues - even if you want to do a historical sim, you can set these leagues to debut in the future.

Goose Juice Dot Com.

*Also included is additional name files for players from more countries wowza.

Note that you cannot just patch the beta demo. You will need the full version. The demo to retail patch only works for the demo posted today.

The 'Add Player' button on the historical database editor doesn't seem to be working, HR (was trying to add Len Bias)

Noted. Also figured I'd throw out that I'll update the db to include this season as soon as the regular season is over.

Question, if I'm starting a league in 1950 with historical DB for my NBA, and ABA, when I get to these euro leagues I've d'led, should I make the player sources fictional or historic?

Any other leagues would be fictional. For now you'll only want to set one league under historical db. I need to add in the code that differentiates between the 2 US leagues but that will be on my list this week.

One more thing, HR-

Is there a way to tinker with the historical DB to add team names, even from 1946 and on? I'd like to be able to set these once, and not every time I create a new file.

Starting in 1946 and I don't recognize anyone. This will be fun. This is like playing from 1900 in OOTP. I'm going to learn so much.

The files are in the Historical Leagues folder in the main game folder under public documents. There is a csv file for each team that you can edit under North America.

Cool. I'm in the process of adding team names to each defunct, current, NBA, ABA and NBDL team in the DB. Really not time consuming at all and will add a lot to the immersion factor.

Eventually it'd be nice to create individual logofile names and to add historical logos that would update automatically. Larger task, but very doable.

Looking forward to picking this up tonight.

I've really enjoyed working on logos for FBCB2, and I suspect I'll be tempted to try to put together historical NBA logos for this one. Only downside is time spent working on logos is time not spent playing this or FBCB2 - dilemmas, dilemmas. Time allocation was simpler before marriage & kids...

I've edited the Historical Database to include accurate team nicknames from 1946-2012 for all three US leagues. I've also edited the 3 US leagues to have proper league names and abbreviations (NBA, NBDL, ABA)

Groundhog, could I email you the zip so you can host it?

I've never played a FBPB game before, but i love the college game. I think I'll give this a try.

Historical really speaks to me, that sounds alot of fun. Any chance of a FOFC FBPB historical league?!

No real Coaches and Overseas Leagues make Game to long to load. The DL's make Trades in season but But NBA Leagues only did in Preseason. Also Historical League 1979 Players didn't show up.

Thumbs up

Just purchased and played the first month of the 1980 season with Boston and things are looking good. Adrian Dantley with 2 of the first 5 player of the week awards (won the player of the month award as well) and is averaging 41.5 points for the first month (of course his team is not very good at 3-12 or something). Team records and scores are on par with the time-frame. I haven't checked the instructions, but I was wondering about Training Camp. I remember seeing a notice, but don't remember seeing where I could access it (or when exactly it was--I was probably too eager to see some season games). Anyway, very happy with this.

I started in 1946, too - but I fastsimmed to 1955 with no problem. My first actual FA period where I was playing was when it crashed. Sounds like a universal bug?

I also started a league in 49-50 and had the same thing happen at the end of the first FA period.

Then I tested with Finances off and it was smooth sailing.

Also Draft Picks should have to be signed after Draft and not go right to Roster and also not be cut at the end of Training Camp but sent to your DL Team.
Also if you win the NBA Championship and lets say Dwight Howard is on your Team and is to become a Free Agent your Team Should try and resign him and if he signs with another team gets your Team gets a Draft Pick in return.
Also no Rookie or Free Agent Camp and Coaches/Staff Hirings should happen all Offseason and so should signing Free-Agents like in OTTP and Franchise Hockey Manager.

Seems like it affects historical leagues started prior to 1959 and will only happen if you have an active human team.

The game could be revolting at the idea of free agency in the 1950s...

To avoid the crash, I fastsimmed past FA and picked up a team at the beginning of Preseason. My team had 19 guys on the roster, I autoset my depth chart and when I clicked to Gameplan I got a RTE.

I've got some ideas on the free agency thing which I think might work ok with multiple leagues to simulate the ABA NBA relationship. Basically it would make it so if you disable free agency then you have exclusive negotiating rights with the player for your league until the next offseason. However, teams from the other league would be able to attempt to sign the player. If the player sits in free agency all season they would be able to sign with a new team the following season. Thoughts?

The self extractor is putting the files in program files instead of program files (x86) .

Until I can find a better self extractor that can determine if you are using 64 bit or 32 bit Windows, (x86) will need to be added if you are on 64 bit. I've got one I'm looking into but haven't had a chance to figure out exactly how it works.

First, congrats on the release! Bought it the second I saw it was available.

One thing I noticed in the demo, and in the first few seasons I've sped through to look at the engine, draft, etc:

The best shooters in the league are too high percentage wise from 3, with routinely having 1 or 2 (more than a few times) shooting over 50% and with a LOT of attempts a game.

And team wise, the stats seem right on line, and I think this is because too many poor three point shooters take 1 or 2 threes a game. Mainly big men that will shoot 19% on 100-150 attempts a season. That's even worse than Zach Randolph used to do for the Blazers and the Knicks!

I'm having a bit of a problem. I installed the game and when I click on it to run it I get an 'unexpected error' then it boots me out. I did update to 3.0.0.1 but am still getting the same error. I didn't have any problems running the demo. I'm using Windows 7, but I'm running it through parallels on my IMac. I really don't know what's going on. It's installed into the x86 directory.

Does the demo version act the same? That will most likely tell us if it something with Elicense or the game itself. Also make sure you are running as admin and if that doesn't work then try this:

1. Right-click on "My Computer"
2. Select "Properties"
3. Click on the "Advanced" Tab.
4. Click on the Performance "Settings" Button
5. Click on the "Data Execution Prevention" Tab
6. Verify that "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" is selected. If it is not, select that option and click "APPLY" and then try and run the game.

Note: Even if you see that option checked already, go ahead and uncheck and then recheck it to ensure that its activated!

7. If the problem persists, go back and select the other option "turn on DEP for all windows programs and services EXCEPT those I select" and ADD the following files:

"runservice.exe" Will be found in C:\Windows
"FPBP3.exe" Normally found in C:\Program Files\GDS\Fast Break Pro Basketball 3 or C:\Program Files (x86)\GDS\Fast Break Pro Basketball 3

9. Click APPLY then Reboot and then relaunch the game.

I'll take a look. That was one area where my gut was telling me there needed to be some more tweaks at some point.

I think the game is taking the 3PT rating TOO seriously. Any big man with a rating above 0 is taking too many three point shots, from what I've gathered. It's the guys that are rated 10-25 on 3PT that are really skewing the averages, I think.

Yes it is but still get run 9 Error around Rookie Draft or Draft Lottery and also I notice no Trades happen at Draft and no Top Players Available and so on Draft Screen and because I have a couple of Leagues active would like to combined Drafts
