Really excited about this Indie Music mini-league, got 5 of 6 today. A mini-league more up my alley, aside from "Sports Rules and Regulations" might not be possible.

Well, it looks likely that I'll be moving back to B. I hope everyone else's season is going ok.

I managed to stay in B, and hit .600 for the first time. Still need to improve though as I can't bank on having the same luck in the future (someone got relegated down to C with *102* TCA, which is nuts).

Wow! I didn't notice that. On other news, I smithed my first 1day. It'll be happening on Monday. It's on HBCUs. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does. And I think I'm doing all of the minileagues this off season.

cuervo bested me in the division this year... I limped to only 116 on 84 correct answers, and survived relegation but not by much

i had more of those "oh, i might have gotten that if i had taken my time" this season than any season since my rookie...grrr

I'm definitely in the right place in D, though I have been upper half much of the time. This season I forfeited 3 times though and had to win on the final day to avoid relegation. I set up a text message to come in if I haven't done it by 5pm, b/c if I didn't get it done in the morning I'd completely forget, that helped a ton.

I should remain in C this season by virtue of winning the tiebreaker points to avoid relegation.

Thanks!

I'll give my seasonal recap over at LL, but man, this season was weird. First, B Delta was a) the toughest B (at least up until a couple MD ago, haven't checked in a couple days) and b) one of the closest in margin to its A rundle (I think it was the second-smallest QPct difference at one point). So surviving it was nice. But...I wasn't really that impressive compared to the rest of the rundle. I think I'm in the bottom six for QPct. I have a better W/L plus-minus than I do MPD. The balls bounced very, very strangely. Give me a different schedule and I probably get demoted.

As such, I am in for PAIN in A. I'm happy to get the promotion, but next season gonna be UGLY.

I've played that game. It is rough, but sometimes you can be surprised how well you stick. I need a win in the last day to not drop 2 seasons in a row. And my TCA was pretty good.

I got relegated from cuervo's B league, would have survived but for two forfeits, including one where I had 4 right answers filled in on my laptop as I drifted to sleep, and failed to submit.

Bummed.

Anyone doing any Mini Leagues? I just submitted for the Food one. Hopefully everyone did ok.

I had major bad luck (17th percent according to the excel sheet) and ended up middle of the pack with the highest CAA in B Delta. HOpefully next season, I can move back up to A.

(I consider myself B+, and on RARE occasions A--)

I had my best season ever, finishing 4th in C.

I consider myself a high D / low C player, so this really was a great season for me. I fully expect to go back to low C next season.

I consider myself B at this point (I'd thought B-, but my QPct for the past two seasons looks to be mid-pack for B across the league). Managed to finish 12th of 30 in A, because of a very fortunate OPD (Offensive Efficiency + Defensive Eff). The second straight season of that.

I guess I'm a LL version of Adam Dunn?

(I benefit from having studied my two traditionally worst categories, to the point where this season they were among my strongest. Not everyone has sussed that out for defense I guess, plus I pulled some legit hard questions. Unfortunately, I still miss too many easier ones.)

Nice! I on the other hand did not. I said 28-28 in the Harvard Yale game.

Today is the second time I've gotten a 9(6). Maybe it was easier than normal. But a good way to kick off my time in the Hinterland.

I'm curious who people put for the hockey question. I flipped the Kosman Koin between Hull and Richard...went with the Rocket and lost on defense.

I'm not much of a hockey fan, but Jagr's time with the nearest team made him my fairly confident pick.

What's the reasoning behind today's integer question? Even seeing the answer and googling it gives me no clue.

The formula for the sequence was n to the 4th then add 2.
This started with n=0

I got an answer changed. The answer to Friday's question about the trick taking game was Euchre.

But I remembered as a kid that my family played a game called 500, which also fit the criteria: 500 (card game - Wikipedia)

Turns out that 500 is a variation on Euchre, so that makes sense.

I emailed the league, and I saw that they changed the correct answer to include 500.

Of course, my opponent assigned me zero points for the question, and I still lost the week. But it's the thought that counts.

This has sparked some debate on the LL forum, fwiw, specifically regarding Jokers (the high card) being bowers, and if they ARE if that disqualifies 500 on the basis of "names of the two highest cards."

I'm one of the folks who got a pleasant surprise with the addition of paneer as a correct answer for the cheese. Still. Got a loss though.
