Patio/grass options for dogs

I'm moving downtown Chicago next week and in preparation for my 10 month old pup transitioning from our backyard, I bought a dog potty system online from Target.

The product seems decent, but it's small...about 3' x 2.5'. My dog is about 30 labs, so she's small too, but it is a bit tight. She also hasn't used it once, but I'm hoping that will begin to change once we're downtown and I open the patio and it's her only option!

I'm writing to see if anyone has used larger products with success. I would just go buy some basic grass turf, but I worry about drainage. I'm hesitant to buy something because most of these are found online and I worry about hassles trying to return the product if need be.

As a secondary issue, does anyone know of a good patio doggy door that could somehow be installed on a sliding door at a property I'd be renting? I'm thinking of something that goes top to bottom in which I could have the door slightly opened, yet this system would sell the opening while providing access for my dog. I'm 21st floor, so security I'm not too concerned with.

I use a Pet Safe. Amazon.com: PetSafe Deluxe Pet Panel Panels for Sliding Glass Doors 76-3/4 to 81 Tall, Medium, White: Pet Supplies

It can be installed without damage to the existing door as long as you don't want to install the lock. I just cut a piece of 2" wood dowl to wedge into the other side of the original door and it keeps it snug and I don't think anyone could pry it open.

Have you considered buying a leash & walking her?

My dog has always been fine being walked 2-3 times per day. I'd be nervous allowing him access to the balcony when I'm not home. Nothing like him seeing a cat on a neighbor's balcony & not realizing that first step...

Balcony is solid concrete all the way to the bottom and is not see through and is way to tell for her to jump, etc. I typically walk her about 4 miles a day 6 days a week. It's a trek to take her just to the park pee and the winter...brr! Patio grass it is!
