Big TV Night
Seems like its a big TV night.
Got ABC with the kickoff of the NFL at 9 eastern, and NBC debuts Joey and the second installment with the bad-hair Donald Trump and his show, and got Missouri/Troy at 7 eastern on ESPN2. Good night for it to be raining. |

For the debut they should have Joey walk around with a giant turkey on his head and have a pet duck.

I only saw a couple episodes of Friends, but Joey was my favorite of the 3 guys. You had Joey, then the pathetic guy ...and then the other pathetic guy.

I agree. I don't think Joey will be anywheres near Friends, (though I felt Friends was overrated anyways) but NBC paid him something like a $10-$15 million "signing bonus" regardless of how long or how well it works. Joey was the funniest of the three guys, but I'm not sure how he can do a whole half-hour show, many epodises with his personality. He didn't have much depth behind his dizzy personality. How bout putting him with Trump.

Well,
Joey wasn't too bad. I'm not sure it will be the homerun that NBC is hoping for, but it will be a solid hit that will be on for a good number of years. Anyone watching the second installment of The Apprentice? Once again, I don't get a feeling any of these candidates are great. Great workers and great at a certain skill (marketing, ect.), but they are not well-rounded. Man, DT's penthouse, very expensive. His finance is hot. |

I thought both Joey and The Apprentice were pretty good. The chemistry between the nephew and Leblanc is pretty good so I'm holdin out that it'll be a pretty solid show. They need to drop the love interest though, it's death.

Trump is very overrated, and firing the guy beside he waived his exemption to be fired? I though it was a bold mood, and show me he was willing to put himself on the line (and I though that an "idea" CEO of today needs that)? He was the only guy I felt was worthy out of the entire 18, and Pam is a bitch. Last edited by SunDancer : 09-17-2004 at 02:45 PM. |

I didn't see the episode, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. I watched the first episode, and didn't bother with last night's. Truthfully, I could have done without it (and most reality TV programming) last season, but my wife likes it, so I'll occassionally get sucked into watching it.

A new twist this season is that the winning Project Manager is exempt from being kicked off if his team loses the following week. This guy won last week, and was exempt this week. He basically kicked ass during the challenge this week, but his team lost. The PM was completely inept, and there is a girl attempting to be Omarossa Jr. that everyone hates. They go in the boardroom, and his exemption comes up. He says. I'd be willing to set that aside. Trump jumped on it, and agreed. Then goes on about how stupid that was. Trump's associates are split on firing either the PM or the troublemaker. Trump calls them in and fires the guy who gave up his exemption. He said he did it because it was an impulsive move, and if he were running a company he would have just jeopardized the whole thing. I think it was BS. Trump said the guy was the best candidate of anyone in the room even. I think Trump thought the guy was screwing with his game, and wasn't about to allow it. |

I actually thought last night's Apprentice was great. I didn't start watching the first one untill half-way through, but it sucked me in the first full episode I watched.
I wasn't a big fan of Bradford. He was a bad leader IMHO, and the waiving of the exepmtion made no sense. Why would he do that? It was a no win. Was he doing it just to suck up to Trump? How could putting yourself at unnessecary risk be a good thing? I think Trump fired him, not just because it was a very dumb move, but because he knew it would be great television. That was purely a shock firing. |

Well, from what I've read, I think Glengoyne is probably right... the exemption was probably this season's new little plot-strategy twist, and he didn't like the guy throwing it out on him... so from now on, EVERYONE is going to use the exemption when they can.
This will obviously get more interesting when there are only three contestants remaining. |

I totally agree, but I wondered why Trump referred to Bradford's choice as a "life-threatening" move (he also said "life-altering") - I thought that was a little over the top. The sad thing about this season is they have maintained the same stereotypes as last year (and I'm told these are pretty common in reality TV - but I don't know): the crazy black woman who can't play well with others, the incompetent asian woman who doesn't get "it," the non-existent asian man, and several white guys who are convinced they are gods. I just wanted a little more variety, but it is still enjoyable. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm . . . forbidden donut ice cream.

I find it that he wanted to step up and put his performance on the line. Everyone kinda didn't like that he had the exemption, and he knew he was one of the best people. I view him as an "employee" in the task, and Ivana was the "CEO" type in the situation he stepped up. |
