Of all the guys, I would not have picked him to go first. From reports he was apparently drinking heavy before the crash. If true it is still sad, but you write your own ticket when you live an irresponsible lifestyle. Thankfully no other vehicles were involved.

RIP

Just yesterday some friends were discussing the jackass movie where he puts a matchbox car up his rectum.

Hard to feel sad about this when the guy acted like a jackass, no pun intended. You get what you pay for when you a) drive too fast in a porsche, b) drink and drive, c) both.

Probably would have been Steve-o if he didnt start to sober up. Im surprised the caste of Jackass has made it this far before someone died. He wrote his own ticket, but still sad to see.

How many people clicked on this thread thinking it was going to be White Sox first baseman Adam Dunn?

He always seemed like one of the more reluctant "stars" of Jackass to me. I will always remember him getting him butt kicked by that female kickboxer.

He had a BAC of 0.196, legal limit in PA is 0.08. As someone that has been effected by this issue I just wish people would smarten up before it came to this.

I feel for his family. I don't feel for somebody willingly doing something that foolish. It would be nice if some within the Jackass circle wised up because of this.

The whole Roger Ebert outrage by Bam is a little outrageous, especially given the BAC results. Extremely thankful that this 'jackass' didn't take any total strangers out on his way to the forest.

I just realized that I saw Dunn last week on an appearance during E3 2011 to promote his new show.

I thought Ebert should have waited for confirmation, but the point needs to be made while his loss is still being felt.

Sure, maybe he shouldn't have posted it so soon. He's admitted that, while still not backing away from his comments.

I'll say that even a sober person driving 130mph on normal roads is just as stupid and dangerous as a drunk driver, so I'm not sure confirmation was needed prior to condemnation in this case.

If you can't get that point without Roger Ebert posting it on facebook then I doubt you're ever going to get it.

This is one of those things where the message is clear without someone needing to step up onto the soapbox to let everyone know.

I'd disagree.

Idiotic mf's like this guy deserve widespread condemnation. Maybe having them be the object of well-earned scorn & general ridicule might have at least some hope of getting through to their fans. Removing the "cool" factor from being a damned idiot is definitely not a bad thing.

I think you overestimate people. I think the message is fine, Ebert as the messenger is certainly less than ideal, people sad over Dunn's death don't give two shits about Ebert.

Hopefully Bam or one of his high profile friends speak out on it in time.

I had 4 people in my family killed by someone who was DUI, in one accident. Luckily only 3 of them burned alive.

So no sympathy, none whatsoever.

I almost raised that same point actually, but opted against it since any voice speaking out against gross stupidity is at least a step in the right direction, however small.

Depends on the person sending the message the those that are intended to receive the message. In this case Roger Ebert probably did a better job rallying people against him and his message than actually getting his message across.

As Jeff said, Knoxville or Bam using this as a way to get a message across would be much more successful.

{shrug} Doesn't change the validity of the message, nor the value of speaking plain truth (and me & Ebert don't land on the same side of many things, so it's not as though I'm particularly a fan). Those who rallied against it are the problem here.

Which would require them to shown some indication of a clue. Not holding my breath for that to happen, it's not exactly what either of them are known for.

He Twittered or Twiddled, or whatever it's called, some type of message after the crash/death was reported that angered some people.

I like how they released the cause of death as "blunt force trauma and burns from the fire"....so it was some combination of the car crashing and the impending fireball. Thanks science!

Split to do their own solo things, saying that "this was too good a horse to just ride it into the ground".

It'll be interesting to see how that turns out though, since both were pretty much flops (Dunn especially) as solo acts prior to teaming up. I suspect their status will prevent the same level of failure but y'never know.

Has nothing on my personal favorite cause of death pronouncement "heart failure". Always seemed like the ultimate "no shit Sherlock" diagnosis to me.

Very interesting. Yea, not sure how that's going to pan out for them. They've been the darlings of the CMAs for a long time now.

For those saying it was too soon, just remember that he is a killer. In some states, he is technically a murderer. He had already been arrested for a DUI in the past.

A .196 is really drunk. Most of us would have problems walking straight let alone driving a car. He proceeded to drive almost 140 MPH at night on a poorly lit road at this level of intoxication. No concern for any other human being who may be on the road at that time. So fuck him and good riddance to that piece of shit.

C'mon, how's a guy supposed to live that jackass lifestyle while being burdened by inconviences like designated drivers, taxis, or just boozing up in safe places where you're going to crash to begin with?

For a 200 lb man, you would be a .190, a little less than Dunn, if you threw down a dozen 12 oz beers in 2 hours.

It was either going to be him or someone else eventually, as far as being a victim of his recklessness. - so this is really the best possible outcome.

I figured this up as well. I took my responsible serving course earlier this week. In Missouri, the bartender could be held liable if he knowingly served this guy this much alcohol without any attempt to give him food or water to try to slow him down. Strange but true.

Luckily, I have never lost anyone close to me as a result of a drunk driver but as an Angels fan, I remember Nick Adenhart dying as a result of some idiot getting behind the wheel drunk. Luckily, this guy only took out himself and the passenger who both should have stopped to think about what they were doing. Or had friends step in and say something to them. Drinking all night and doing 140mph in a car ends with somebody dying...yep, lesson learned for all the jackasses out there.

I was pretty bummed out when I first heard the news - I really enjoyed all the Jackass stuff.

When I read that he was drinking before he drove his car into a tree, and now learning he was completely shitfaced while doing 140MPH, I'm just glad that asshole didn't kill more people.

Good riddance.
