Looking For Book Suggestions
Hi there sir and/or madam. I'm just about finished with A Short History Of Nearly Everything and I've found it quite the enjoyable and accessible read. My question is, are there other books in a similar style that deal with things such as geography, civilization or world history that you can recommend me? Thank you for your time.

In the middle of this one right now. Fascinating read. I can't say if it's written in the same vein as the other you mentioned, but it's not a hard read and very enjoyable.
American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America: Colin Woodard: 9780143122029: Amazon.com: Books

well, the same author has a bunch of other books. i enjoyed one summer (about 1927).
also, i recommended a short history of nearly everything to a friend who loved it, then he read "a troublesome inheritance" and wont shut up about it to me. i dont know much about it, but they must be in the same vein because he brings them up hand in hand. |

The book like that that immediately comes to mind is Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond. It's about the rise of civilizations and his theory as to why some societies dominated others |

You should read Diamond, but when you become fed-up with his racism and loopy-lefty drivel, here's the perfect tonic:
http://www.amazon.com/Carnage-Cultur...ge+and+culture Hanson refutes Diamond point by point and cites several of their public debates, which is fascinating.
