Crazy Hold 'Em Night

Tonight I was able to witness a straight flush lose to a Royal Flush in hold 'em. Yikes.

I haven't seen that one yet. I have seen 4 Kings lose to a royal flush and 4 10's lose to 4 jacks. And I even had the misfortune of holding 78s of clubs and the flop came out 9 10 J of clubs. I ended up capping several rounds with the otehr guy in the pot just to see him turn over KQs of clubs.

Dola,

And while we are on the subject of a royal flush I have only had one once and I caught it on the flop. I was holding AKs and the flop obviously came out Q J 10 of my suit. There were 5 other people in the pot and I was in early position. I didn't want to scare anyone off so I checked and everyone checked behind me. The turn was a blank 4 so I bet and damn ti if everyone didn't fold. I didn't even get to make any real money off my royal.

My worst loss ever like that was losing an ace-high flush to a straight flush... My best win ever was a royal flush crushing somebody's Aces full of Queens in holdem.

I've occasionally seen multiple four of a kind's in omaha and that kind of thing, but I haven't witnessed it in holdem yet.

my friend once saw a table at vegas where a straight flush lost to a higher straight flush. everyone at the table started screaming and cheering. my friend wondered why everyone was so happy.

it turned out, that particular poker room was running a progressive jackpot. and whenever a straight flush lost to a higher one, everyone sitting at that table wins the jackpot. not sure how large the jackpot was at the time. but i figure each person was a few thousand dollars richer.

What's even more ridiculous is that the same guy who had the Royal Flush had pocket pairs set-up multiple times, including a quad 6. Needless to say we all hated the man for the night.

Edit: Pot was about 5 or 6 bucks (a fairly large pot for a game like ours).
