They called that offensive PI on Iowa? What in the world is going on over there?

Ole Miss offense needs a lotta work but the defense showed up when it counted.

What a weird feeling, seeing them win a game with defense.

UK should have won this game going away. Horrible special teams, never once giving the ball to Rodriguez on like 4-5 3rd or 4th and short plays, and Levis being Levis. Bad loss.

Nice win in a very difficult place to win. A little shaky in the second half, but Michigan played turnover-free and were able to do some things on offense.

For the record, Iowa was 5-59 in penalties, Michigan was 5-50. It wasn't a perfectly called game, but I think the folks in Iowa will return home without rioting.

Interesting statistic of the day: we all know Wisconsin's identity. At home against Illinois with a 34-10 loss and -3 total yards rushing (qb sacks are rushing yardage in college, passing yardage in the NFL). For a team that came into the season ranked, the Badgers are one of the bigger surprises in college football.

You should go over to mgoblog and straighten them out.

As a 46 year old lifetime Michigan fan, this game may go into the top 5 most favorably reffed games I've seen. Wish they'd save these calls for OSU.

I hope we have these refs for psu sparty and osu. That would be nice

Looking at the time stamp, that was after a flag was thrown during an unsuccessful fourth-and-two play and everyone was worried about pass interference. The call was on Iowa (and declined).

This must be true for all partisan boards. You always think the refs are out to get you. In Michigan's case, a lot of it comes from the Ohio State game a few years back - the fourth-down spot that would have ended the game gets referenced at least a dozen times weekly even now.

Here - that could have been a no-call and it wouldn't have changed the outcome, the ball wasn't thrown there and the Michigan defender was picked, but assigned to the receiver who picked him. Earlier, there were a couple of calls on the Iowa offensive line. They play a zone blocking scheme, and the NCAA is cracking down on low blocks out of that scheme. The one that sparked some anger was a bad call (you're allowed to throw a low block on your initial thrust from the line). OK, one bad call. Then there was a no-call on a 50/50 pass interference in the end zone a few minutes later the other way that took points off for Michigan. Maybe a make-up, but referees don't really work that way. The game totals don't indicate that penalties changed the outcome. It was a 27-7 game with a prevent touchdown with 0:08 remaining.

Can't really straighten out a game thread - hundreds of posters and emotions are crazy. But you could try if you like. It might be a little easier than straightening out a Twitter thread, but not by much.

Bryce Young leaves with a shoulder injury. Eventually heads to the lockerroom and to me, it looked like that arm was still hanging pretty limp :/

Best case is a separation. But the a tear in a ligament or a broken collarbone is more likely.

FSU crashing to the ground today. And still without a kicker. Went undefeated in September and might go winless in October. I came into the season hoping for bowl eligibility, so... I guess that's still realistic.

Take it

There's isn't a bad team in the Big 12 right now and you're 2-0. What Leipold has done is impressive.

Though if you hire as many coaches as you guys have eventually you have to get it right.

One of the KC sports talk guys has this right: Leipold has done a good job. But it hasn't been as hard as Kansas has made it look the last decade, either.

Georgia is playing with that same flatness they played last week. I don't know what has gotten them in this funk, but they just can't out things together like they did early in the season.

I was reffing BB today. Making money seemed like a better choice than watching Iowa. Glad I did.

A poster at HN noted he heard the 1st question and answer at half from KF, note the score was 13-0. THe qestion was basically what do you need to do better, KF said stop the run.

Really? Not score some points? BF is here for life.

On a positive note, that will be least amount of points scored by Michigan until tOSU.

B1G West is trash

7-7 at the half Coastal and Georgia Southern at the half. Coastal has missed some opportunities with a missed FG and a fumble on drive that made it to the 10 yard line

Mizzou is going to regret only getting 3 out of a 1st and goal from the 1. Although it's just as likely that UGA wins by 20.

I did not know that the coaches could agree to shorten the second half quarters to 10 minutes in a blowout.

I wonder what stipulations they could make.

HA! We still have Petras one more year. Plus Iowa's offensive playbook is so difficult to learn that a QB has to be in the system for at least 2 years before they get reps.

And another thing, we dont look past TEs at the skill positions, or really any postitions. That is not the Iowa way. Transfers should have a list of schools they are barred from attending. Like the good ol' days.

Even with a 10 point lead and 13 minutes to go, it still feels like Mizzou loses without scoring another TD.

I think Ohio State is the best team in the country right now, but everyone appears to be vulnerable this year. I don't remember a year, maybe short memory, but I can't recall one where all the top teams appeared as shaky/questionable as they do this year.

Is the quality of player declining, as in parents not letting kids play football anymore?

How many players are in their first year in a system?

Indiana vs Nebraska could have been called the Transfer Bowl (based on the QBs, leading experienced rushers, leading experienced receivers)

Crazy 4th quarter, both QB's hot, but Coastal's defense held them to FG's not TD. GS took the lead with 2 minutes left, and Coastal looked like the magic was finally going to end... but NO, a pass interference on 3rd and 10 gives Coastal another chance and McCall responds with a long pass then the RB runs one in from 24 yards out! Then a big sack on 2nd down and some incomplete passes and its over, Coastal wins 34-30 and stays undefeated.

Wow!
