We've already had our first trade of the off-season. Now let's see who wants to spend some money.

Brooklyn has a new owner, too. Welcome CleBrownsFan to the FOOL-H fold. He's a veteran FOOL-X owner and has decided to try his hand here amongst the elites who play with real players. Give him a warm welcome. Though you might say, he got that when he inherited a team with Rogers Hornsby.

They've never been the Dodgers, actually. They began as the Robins for four years, then got changed to the Royal Giants. Aye, CBF indeed has changed them to become the Dodgers.

My vote would've been for the Brooklyn Bushwicks.

Quote:
The Brooklyn Bushwicks were an independent, semi-professional baseball team that played its games almost totally in Dexter Park in Queens from 1917 to 1951. They were unique at their time for fielding multi-ethnic rosters. They played what amounts to exhibition games against barnstorming Negro League teams, minor league baseball teams, and other semi-pro teams. The Bushwicks were owned by Max Rosner, who hired many former major league to play on his club, including Dazzy Vance and others. All the famous players of the time came to play exhibitions at Dexter Park including Dizzy Dean, Hank Greenberg, Joe DiMaggio, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Joe Medwick. Until he became friends with Rosner, Ruth demanded upfront payments in cash before agreeing to personal appearances. The DiMaggio picture was taken during his debut year with Yankees.

The great black stars, Josh Gibson, Cool Papa Bell and many others often opposed the Bushwicks. The team appeared on New York City television and on radio as well. The team's picture appeared in three different Spaulding Guides. A book on the Bushwicks by Thomas Henley Barthel entitled, "Those Peerless Semipros: The Brooklyn Bushwicks of Dexter Park," was published in 2009.

Vic Willis Joins the Hall of Fame
Friday, January 1st, 1915: Today, one of the legendary kings of the hill received his due recognition. Vic Willis was enshrined into the FOOL-Historical Hall of Fame. One of the most fearsome hurlers to ever take the mound, Willis earned this coveted honor by dominating hitters with a 299-238 record over a 633-game career. In 4642.2 innings he fanned 1701 batters, walked 1267 and compiled a fine 3.68 ERA. Willis retired at the age of 38.

"My teammates did a lot for me over the course of my career and I wouldn't be here without their help," Willis said as he stood before the large crowd of fans and diamond legends. "It's easy to rack up as many wins as I did when your teammates play such great defense and score as many runs as mine did. But in turn, when they weren't having a great day, I knew I had to return the favor and that's why we were all so successful. We played for each other."

Well, Ruth didn't like my 7 year / $70mil extension. Going to have to keep working on that before he asks for $25mil / year or even worse refuses to sign an extension and demands FA.

Okay - at least it's a bad draft. I was starting to think that this was a norm for this era of baseball or something
