1903 FOOL-H Off-season Thread

AWARD WINNERS:

Quote:
AL MVP: Jimmy Sheckard, Chicago
NL MVP: Nap Lajoie, St. Louis

AL Pitcher of the Year: Bill Phillips, Baltimore
NL Pitcher of the Year: Pete Dowling, Boston

AL Rookie of the Year: Harry Arndt, Philadelphia
NL Rookie of the Year: Bill Richardson, Chicago

Given that our day schedule just hasn't worked out yet, we're instead operating on what amounts to a 6 day schedule. Here's how it's laid out for this coming week:

Quote:
Saturday: FA2
Sunday: Draft/Spring Training
Monday: Off-Day
Tuesday: Season Sim
Wednesday: Post-season
Thursday: Off-Day

I'd love to eventually get it down to where we have two days off, because it helps people catch up, but...I've got to get the draft scheduled into the regular season to do that and I'm afraid if I change the date of the draft for next year to early March, it won't generate the players we need from the DB. And I'd rather not "test it out and see how it goes."

So we'll operate with the draft in mid-season rather than in the weird post-season like this year for just one year, then I'll move it to around Spring Training so you'll get once chance to do that along with your file before the season starts.

Thanks gang.

In a twist of interestingness....I'd like to point out the Yankees, nor the Black Caps owners have ever exported.

I'm posting over at OOTP now for two new owners, but...I'm sure this is just the chance those Yankee haters among us need to say that we find a way scrub out the Yankees for the baseball universe.

If you have anyone who might want to join, send 'em along...

Nah. Move them to Newark and make them the Newark Eagles. Then we'll have two Negro League tribute teams.

As long as there's not a franchise called the New York Yankees, it matters little to me what we do to get rid of them.

I hate to say this, but I think I'm gonna have to bow out. This just isn't interesting me as much as the other leagues I'm in. I think I've missed half the exports. I can "run" the team until you find a replacement for me.

Were there any issues with importing files? Looks like my export did not take, not sure if I simply forgot to hit the button. None of my arbitration stuff was in there, and I had set a password since mine seemed to have disappeared and it's not there either.

Mine looked like it went in ok. I non-tendered Billy Sullivan and I see that went through with the file.

Looking at the FOOL-H EXPORT TRACKER it says the Red Sox last export was Aug 12, 9:19. I don't know if that was this last sim or the one before, I don't remember what date was which..

Nah, I would have exported yesterday the 13th. Looks like I forgot to hit the upload button or something.

Some awesome FA's out there this year. I don't have any money to spend, but it will be fun to see where they end up.

It'll get more interesting once the players are more interesting, I think. But I understand...

One of my favorite things to do with historical leagues is on star players that I don't recognize, I try to read up information on them. Not just their stats but also about who they were.

As far as funny/interesting stories go, there isn't really a time in baseball better than the late 1800s/early 1900s for some really crazy/insane characters in the game of baseball.

If someone has more time than I do these days, I really think that would be a fun thing for someone to write articles on for this league

You all interpreted the 50 year stadium rule that way. There's a 50 year rule on moving stadiums and I only came up with that idea so people wouldn't go changing parks all of the time. I would never put a moratorium on franchise moves, because well..I like them too much.

But fear not, Yankee lovers...your Bronx Bombers aren't going anyplace.

I have licensed OOTPX and grabbed the file from the logistics thread, if someone could let me know when the next sim is, I know DC had to shift the schedule recently but I haven't totally grocked whether it is permanent or a catch up thing...thanks.

PS, Bronx Bombers are packing trucks and scouting real estate locations in Ft Lauderdale...it will be much more pleasant for the NL team to visit there each October.

Tampa Yankees ftw.

And yeah, the schedule operates on a 6-day cycle, rather than a day-by-day one, because it's hard to keep up with that..though we might switch it if it's easier for people to remember that way...

Here's the rest of this week's schedule. It's changed, because I'm going to try to get the game to let me to do the draft before the start of the season, so we won't have to split the season up into two (which would be weirder than doing it in the post-season as we just had to.)

Quote:
Saturday: FA2
Sunday: Draft/Spring Training
Monday: Off-Day
Tuesday: Season Sim
Wednesday: Post-season
Thursday: Off-Day

I swapped it so you all had an off-day so it's not so break neck. and I've scheduled the draft for the day after the start of ST, so you'll be able to set your 40-man rosters accordingly and do your draft lists too. We'll see if the game cooperates, but I think it should, as I've tested this thing once before.

Hi,

With NY gone I would like Louisville if they are still open. I know a few guys from BBCF/FOF and am in a few other BLB leagues. I have never been in a 1 year at a time league so it might take me a few years to get going.

Thanks,

-MattG

EDIT...Per the coach thread they show open but in this thread they look taken, so if not a waiting list would be fine.

MattG gets Louisville. But not really until next year, because it's too late for me to add him now and get him setup for the season.
