We haven't had to deal with this in this league before. But the protocol has generally been that I release the worst player I can to get the team under the cap and then I'll deal with a penalty for this infraction at the end of the season when I can decide what to do with them. They're just over $4m over the cap, too, so it won't be an easy decision..but so it goes.

I released backup 1B Charlie Carr ($3.2m) and AAA OF Duff Cooley ($930k) to get them under the cap to $64,935,300.

A bit of history:
The real life Ginger Beaumont was a four-time NL hits leader with a batting title to his credit. He was also the first player to bat in a World Series (for the Pirates) In FOOL-H, he spent four years with the Philadelphia A's before joining the Cardinals this season and he's showing no signs of slowing down at age 29. In 1905, he's already over 100 RBI for the 3rd time in his career, showing that 3-year/$38.1m deal that he was signed to this past off-season paid off. A three-time FOOL-H All star, Beaumont also claimed two gold gloves so far in his career. He ranks #8 on the all-time list for best batting average over a career, though it's kind of early to start measuring that sort of thing. Still, it seems that before it's all said and done, Beaumont might be a name that we all remember historically, as we replay the years of baseball past! |

Hit Streak Now at 20 for Davis
Sunday, September 17th, 1905: George S Davis has been ripping hits every day for quite some time, and no team seems to be able to stop him. The Boston shortstop got 1 hit today against the Cincinnati Redlegs and now has a 20-game hitting streak. The Beaneaters won the game 4-2. G. Davis flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and flied out in the 8th. Davis is batting at a .295 pace this season, picking up 190 hits in 643 at-bats with 4 home runs, 71 RBIs and 93 runs scored. |

The Cardinals have a magic number of 4.
Meanwhile, there is a three-way tie for the NL Wild Card. In the AL, there's a tie for the wild card and the Senators have a magic number of 10, though it's doubtful that means much with the race so tight! |

I adjusted the financial demands, so you all should see some sort of financial sanity back into things. I'm pretty sure the modifiers were just increasing on their own, which caused the problems you were noticing and I really hadn't had much time to look at it until now. I should've lowered the financial coefficient for this league when started, because that's what I did with FOOL when it first started, but I think I must've neglected it somehow. And doing it now would mess with stuff too much.
But anyway....back to the pre-playoff drama shall we? |

Grats to the other playoff teams! Time for the AL to win a championship!!!

We're 7-11 against Washington this year. It doesn't look good.

I wish I could take credit for having some great strategy that led us to playoff glory, but I have no idea wtf I'm doing. Perhaps we can steal a championship with a string of dumb luck! I'm happy to be in the playoffs, congratulations to everyone for an exciting season.

Wow, I got really lucky this year. Alan's team performed 8 games under their Pythagorean record, while I finished 4 games above mine. Alan should have been battling for the regular season title, instead he missed the playoffs entirely! I guess that's why we play the games, eh?
