Buying DVD-R help: quality recording at LP (4 Hour)

I'm considering purchasing a DVD-R this weekend and I am curious if anyone has tried recording at 4 Hour (LP) speed? My only drawback about buying one of these is only being able to record from TV at 2 hours. Sometimes that timeframe may not be enough. My VCR has died and I am looking for something better.

Thanks in advance...

I bought a semi-expensive DVD-R about a year ago. I don't remember the exact model, but I'm quite happy with the recording quality on LP for most TV shows. I only bother to record movies I want to keep (from cable) at the higher quality settings.

That's good to hear because my only reason for my current delay was that a 2 hour disk wouldn't be sufficient for TV.
