Reuters: Marines Kill Iraqi Civilian at Checkpoint
Apparently truck with two men apparently did the same thing the van did earlier. Didn't stop. Warning shots. Shots into engine. Shots into compartment. One man dead, another injured. But they apparently were just civilians.
Word on the ground is this is a fairly common occurance right now and the US is taking a no holds barred approach following the weekend suicide bombing. Of course, everyone is wondering why they Iraqi people don't stop. Stop and the stop sign are virtually universal symbols. |

If you had no information about what was going on, only that your country was being invaded, and as you somehow escaped Saddam's troops into the country and came across a checkpoint with armed guards, would you stop?

dola...
I should also make clear that I think the soldiers are doing what is necessary. It's sad, but there's really no way to avoid it. I'm just wanting to caution people against thinking the Iraqis were getting killed because they were stupid or something. |
