Waiting for someone to setup a league...... I'll try to play but honestly someone else would be better at writing a recap of the standings each week. I'd rant about how lucky they are to be beating me and how my horse got boxed in, stumbled, cut off, or ate too much before the race maybe.

With Wise Dan being such an overwhelming favorite, I went with the Exacta box pairing him up with Za Approval. Za Approval then got scratched and I didn't see the email until right before deadline. I hurriedly picked Lea as the second horse. I usually don't pick the two favorites in an exacta, but the scratch caused me to hurry.

Two races this weekend and sure one of them will have a higher pay than 3 dollars like last week and 2.80 the week before. Wasn't that interesting of a race but I did put my pick down on the horse that came in 3rd. Actually had it to place. Would have won more betting to show than betting to win on the winner. That race I thought he'd be off the pace a little more and after the winner passed the lead horse the lead horse had a good chance of fading....... Balance the books won but it was two race days later as that race was off turf and he got scratched. Centre court runs Saturday and the jockey change is big in my opinion, he's not in the races for the challenge. Also like Goldencents Sunday, looked very impressive last time out......... it appears I was the only one to place a wager because it didn't show I made one. I've already made mine for this week and one more is needed for it to be official. The races have to get better than the last few weeks with huge favorites, I hope.

Took orb strictly because palace malice will be on the lead and John V will press him slightly. Hoping orb is there to pick it up......... Probably way off but if I had to guess on this race, that's what I'd guess would happen.

Sunday I think Game on dude will be a big favorite. Dullahan has been working out great for dale romans. That trainer does not work out horses fast, I've had some great winners with that in the past. But with that said, he has ran well since winning at delmar last year. Think he'll like the track and is gaining a little form back from those really bad races, think he'll be a decent price. I feel crazy betting against GOD, but it won't pay anything.

I don't think Palace Malice will get the lead from Moreno. I think Verrazano is a pretty deserving favorite.

It's definitely a much more interesting race than the last two. One of my favorite horses was itsmyluckyday, one of the most consistent horses this year, really disappointed me when he started to make a move on Verrazano and was pulled up injured. Wanted to see what Verrazano would do challenged by a pretty good horse that had been ultra consistent in putting up a good effort. I don't think Verrazano will be within a length of the lead after 5 Furlongs and that's where he's always been when he won. Horses are very strange, I wouldn't bet on him to like it when I've seen so many very good horses not pace well.

Yeah, Palace Malice broke last and probably effected the pace. I took orb because I didn't like the top two and I got rewarded with nothing.......... Centre Court was my favorite horse racing for months. Two races back the jockey ran her up into a wall of horses and got bounced around. Then the next race she had a good trip and did nothing. Thought I'd give her one bad race but this makes two in a row without an excuse. Maybe she didn't like getting bounced around. I'll continue to watch this horse but won't take her again unless things change.

Tomorrow Goldencents runs. Rosario was scheduled to be on orb but got hurt, he was also on Goldencents. I still like Goldencents as PVal is one of the best all time gate jockeys and has been getting bad mounts after being off racing for 9 months or so. Not the big race at delmar tomorrow but still a graded race.

Thanks in large part to lack of picks I find myself in second place. I did notice a few days ago someone had battier to win a few weeks back. I had him to place. Coming around the turn I would have wanted to switch. Then I got nosed out for second. Both were losers, thought it was interesting him being the longest shot in the race.

1	Street Girl	M. Azpurua	A. Castillo	30-1	/
	Horse Bio The Calder Oaks winner has yet to score in graded stakes company but her 3rd last out in the Grade 1 Cotillion (won by Close Hatches) was notable in that she stumbled at the start and closed well. Also notable is that her only two wins have been at distances over a mile, despite the majority of her graded efforts coming at sprint distances. The step up in class will be a bigger hurdle than the added distance, but given her last performance it's plausible that she could be interesting in your exotic wagers.
2	Authenticity	T. Pletcher	J. Velazquez	8-1	/
	Horse Bio The Grade 2 La Troienne winner ran a game 2nd to Beholder last out in the Grade 1 Zenyatta at Santa Anita and a non-threatening 2nd to Royal Delta in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign before that. She's shown a flexible running style and does well under various pace scenarios. It was a clever move for trainer Todd Pletcher to send this New York filly to Santa Anita for her BC prep. Despite finishing 2nd, she ran very well and made up a lot ground late. It would not be a surprise for her to improve off that effort.
3	Close Hatches	W. Mott	J. Rosario	6-1	/
	Horse Bio The Grade 1 Cotillion winner has the distinction of being the only horse to beat Princess of Sylmar in a graded stakes race (the Grade 2 Gazelle in April). Since then she's thrown a couple of clunkers but has rounded back into form by winning her last two with ease. No more easy races for her though as she makes her first attempt against older fillies and mares (and other 3-year-olds who have beaten older fillies and mares). But, the pace scenario is to her advantage and she's definitely capable of hitting the board and possibly an upset if enough things fall into place. It would not be first time Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott pulled a sneaky upset!
4	Royal Delta	W. Mott	M. Smith	8-5	/
	Horse Bio The two-time winner of this race had no response when Princess of Sylmar ran by her in the Grade 1 Beldame last out, but she's had an otherwise good year if you overlook her trip to Dubai (and you should). She and Beholder, who is right to her outside, are both likely to try to get the lead early, but the reigning older female champion doesn't need the lead to win. If she wins she'll be the first to win this race three times and will join the great Goldikova as the only three-time winner of any BC races.
5	Beholder	R. Mandella	G. Stevens	5-2	/
	Horse Bio Last year's Juvenile Fillies winner made short work of older fillies and mare last out in the Grade 1 Zenyatta at Santa Anita. This "horse for the course" has won six out five starts (and finished a close 2nd in the other). In her only outing at the distance she finished a close 2nd to Princess of Sylmar in the Kentucky Oaks. It's to her advantage to get the lead early and she's got the speed to do it but she'll have to fight it out with Royal Delta, who has the advantage of being to her inside. She's been garnering plenty of "oohs" and "aahs" in the mornings and appears to be ready to strut her stuff.
6	Princess of Sylmar	T. Pletcher	J. Castellano	9-5	/

	Horse Bio Winner of the Grade 3 Phillip Iselin has racked up a string of six straight wins after breaking his maiden last fall. His only real clunker was last out in the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup, where he finished a distant 5th behind winner Ron the Greek. Then again, everyone BUT Ron the Greek seemed to throw a clunker that day. If you're willing to overlook his last effort he could be an interesting prospect.
2	Paynter	B. Baffert	M. Garcia	12-1	/
	Horse Bio The comeback kid has put in a string of solid efforts after returning from a life-threatening injury but has yet to win in stakes company this year. Last out he finished more than four lengths behind Mucho Macho Man in the Grade 1 Awesome Again. He's made a favorable appearance in the morning and his post position should allow him to settle into a nice spot behind the speed. He would certainly be a heartwarming Classic winner!
3	Planteur (IRE)	M. Botti	R. Moore	20-1	/
	Horse Bio This European turf specialist isn't as accomplished as his overseas contemporary Declaration of War but he's no slouch either. In fact, he could be an interesting addition to the pace scenario as he's gone straight to the lead in last three races. Given that he's inside of Moreno, and all the other speed horses, he could gain the advantage and try to take the field all the way. But will he like Santa Anita's dirt course? It remains to be seen.
4	Moreno	E. Guilott	J. Talamo	15-1	/
	Horse Bio This "need to lead" type has put together a nice string of high profile "almosts" since winning the Grade 2 Dwyer over the summer. His running style will not do him any favors in a field with Game on Dude and Fort Larned but he's got the advantage of drawing to their inside. This will be his first start against older horses, but he's proven that he has plenty of heart in the final furlong, and he'll need it!
5	Declaration of War	A. O'Brien	J. O'Brien	10-1	/
	Horse Bio This classy European shipper is a bit of wild card, and not only because he's raced exclusively overseas. Last out he won the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes at York in England by stalking the pace and then grinding down the front-runners in the stretch. While he does have a favorable running style for the likely pace scenario, he'll be making his first start on dirt.
6	Mucho Macho Man	K. Ritvo	G. Stevens	5-1	/
	Horse Bio He's put together a string of solid efforts since running 2nd in last year's Classic but didn't put it together for a win until he shipped in to Santa Anita for the Grade 1 Awesome Again last out. He remained at Santa Anita to train and has been garnering favorable reports from far and wide for his appearance over the track. He certainly would not be a surprise, especially with a nice zippy pace to stalk.
7	Fort Larned	I. Wilkes	B. Hernandez	6-1	/
	Horse Bio Last year's Classic winner, lovingly known as Big Ugly around the barn, comes in off an easy front-running victory in the ungraded Homecoming Classic at Churchill last month. In his last three wins, including last year's Classic, he's taken the field wire to wire and in his last two losses he did not make the lead. So, the biggest concern for Big Ugly will be that Moreno to his inside and Game on Dude to his outside will also be looking for the lead.
8	Palace Malice	T. Pletcher	J. Velazquez	10-1	/
	Horse Bio The Grade 1 Belmont Stakes winner made his first outing against older horses last out in the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup where he finished 2nd, 6+ lengths behind upset winner Ron the Greek. Prior to that he was lighting the 3-year-old ranks on fire by following up his Belmont win with a win in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy and gutsy near miss in the Grade 1 Travers, less than a length behind Will Take Charge. If you're willing to toss his effort in the Jockey Club (he was at least two lengths ahead of the rest of the pack) then he's a very interesting prospect.
9	Game on Dude	B. Baffert	M. Smith	8-5	/
	Horse Bio This two-time Classic starter has gotten better with age and has remained undefeated in his last six starts. With the exception of the Grade 2 Charles Town Classic he's had the lead by the first call in each of those races. In fact the last time that he wasn't on or near the lead by the first call was his defeat in last year's Classic where he finished a distant 7th as the favorite. As is usual he's gotten all the requisite "oohs" and "aahs" in the morning. Will the third time starting in the Classic be a charm for the Dude? He'll have competition to get the lead, and his post position won't do him any favors, but he appears to be ready for the task.
10	Will Take Charge	D. W. Lukas	L. Saez	12-1	/
	Horse Bio He seemed like a one hit wonder on the Triple Crown trail when he pulled a 28-1 upset over stablemate and Preakness winner Oxbow in the Rebel Stakes but has turned his year around this summer by putting in two impressive wins in the Grade 1 Travers and Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby. With Game on Dude and Moreno in the field he should get a favorable pace scenario and could certainly pull an upset.

I figure this is as good a place to ask as any. We're going to Churchill Downs for a work event on November 13, and I'm told something will actually be going on there. Does anyone have any idea what I should expect, or adviec on what I should do?

One day I'll see a race live there, if I don't get ran over by a train or something..... They do have live racing there that day, wouldn't expect much of a crowd not being a weekend or stakes day but I'd kinda prefer to go when I could turn around and enjoy the facility...... not much help, haven't actually been there.

Yep, sounds like we have meeting stuff in the morning, then races start at 1. We're also told that there's a business casual dress code, and jeans are not allowed -- and that it's because of the location, not the company.

So it's probably different horses racing on a Wednesday than a weekend, huh?

Went to Louisiana Downs with my uncle to bet the Goldencents race but my uncle got irritated at all the long shots and wanted to leave so I left without betting it. The thing is I asked him before we left if 510 was fine because I wanted to watch the race but then he start nagging me and didn't seem to be having fun so I got the hell out of there. I thought we went there to have fun watching the BC races but he lost all his money on the races before that. Post time should be 12:40. There are more claiming races but usually have a decent allowance race on the card.

Sweet, at least someone profited. I actually had a big double with the favorite the race before but had terrible luck as he went way way way too fast alone on the lead. Left before that race. Almost turned around to drive 10 minutes back to bet goldencents. If I was alone , I would have. Didn't see your post until know qsand, good for you.

TCY Junkie College Prospect Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: TX	Two races this weekend and sure one of them will have a higher pay than 3 dollars like last week and 2.80 the week before. Wasn't that interesting of a race but I did put my pick down on the horse that came in 3rd. Actually had it to place. Would have won more betting to show than betting to win on the winner. That race I thought he'd be off the pace a little more and after the winner passed the lead horse the lead horse had a good chance of fading....... Balance the books won but it was two race days later as that race was off turf and he got scratched. Centre court runs Saturday and the jockey change is big in my opinion, he's not in the races for the challenge. Also like Goldencents Sunday, looked very impressive last time out......... it appears I was the only one to place a wager because it didn't show I made one. I've already made mine for this week and one more is needed for it to be official. The races have to get better than the last few weeks with huge favorites, I hope. __________________ I try to open things I probably have no chance of opening. Hoping orb is there to pick it up......... Probably way off but if I had to guess on this race, that's what I'd guess would happen. Sunday I think Game on dude will be a big favorite. Dullahan has been working out great for dale romans. That trainer does not work out horses fast, I've had some great winners with that in the past. But with that said, he has ran well since winning at delmar last year. Think he'll like the track and is gaining a little form back from those really bad races, think he'll be a decent price. I feel crazy betting against GOD, but it won't pay anything. __________________ I try to open things I probably have no chance of opening.

QuikSand lolzcat Join Date: Oct 2000 Location: Annapolis, Md	I don't think Palace Malice will get the lead from Moreno. I think Verrazano is a pretty deserving favorite.

I did notice a few days ago someone had battier to win a few weeks back. I had him to place. Coming around the turn I would have wanted to switch. Then I got nosed out for second.
