So not only is RFK wrong about what causes autism, it turns out he also doesn't even know what autism is? And totally saying the quiet part out loud with the "tragic" thing he listed first.

It's incredibly funny that he named the one sport with a slew of autistic people in it.

He's just wrong period. It's called a spectrum for a reason. My son just turned 30, has been working at the local university in custodial for about the last 7 years. It's his second job. His first was a position at Autie Annie's Pretzel place in the mall where the (fantastic) manager made a position in the store just for him, and gradually he grew into other roles once he was comfortable. It took us 18 months of encouraging him to get that one because he was so nervous about working and people. He has some benefits from the state that pay for his community living services helper he meets with and he's grown quite a bit. It's success at his level. He's not neurotypical, and his growth curve looks different than everyone elses, but he's far from this bullshit opinion from a anti-science, anti-vax, conspiracy theorist who paints himself like his boss.

I saw a tweet about this that said something to the effect of, "I'm pretty sure RFK Jr can't do at least 4 of those 6 things."

The number of people that see the increase in autism detection and think that all of those numbers are ALL level 3 on the scale blows my mind. People simply don’t understand that it is a spectrum and we have been widening that spectrum the more we understand it and you have people like RFK Jr. who profit off of that. He’s among the most vile people we have in this country.

The real irony here is that his buddy Elon Musk announced in 2021 that he is on the autism spectrum.

Oh, he screwed that up just to highlight how flawed the system is so that if would get fixed. that's brilliant.

And, oh he screwed thst up just to see if others on his team know how to do their jobs and were paying attention.

I nearly crashed the plane just to see if the other guy would stop me! He did, so I did my job by checking the training!

I didn't follow those procedures because I know the plane better than the manufacturer, and I know what it can handle. They don't know anything!

I fly where I want and when I want because I've never hit another plane before. Therefore, no matter where I go, I'll never hit one. I know this more than anyone else.

Which in itself isn't a shocking revelation. Every human being that isn't mediocre simplistic will 'score' in autism tests.

BREAKING NYT:

Pete Hegseth shared detailed information about forthcoming strikes in Yemen on March 15 in a private Signal group chat that included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer.

The info included the flight schedules for the F/A-18 Hornets targeting the Houthis in Yemen.

Hegseth had a 2nd signal chat on his personal phone that included his wife, personal attoeney, his brother, and others from his personal circle. He shared the same details accidently sent to the journalist in that chat. The difference being he created this 2nd chat group and was purposely leaking the details to these people.

He's been going after the people leaking information in his department, but it's not a great idea when you do so much shady shit. The really bad stuff comes out when you start firing people that know too much.

Not gonna burden the Pope thread with this comment, but ... seems pretty clear one or both of these things are true - JD Vance is the kiss of death, or the Pope decided he'd rather head off to the afterlife than live another day in a world in which Vance may end up the most powerful person in it. Although perhaps the latter isn't entirely fair, because if Trump keeps denigrating our world leadership position, the next President will just be one of the rest.

Sen. Ron Johnson wants to have hearings on 9/11 to see if it as an inside job.

The entire GOP needs to be destroyed.

Between his speech and what Dr. Oz said, I think the approach is to blame people for these illnesses as a way to justify cuts to Medicaid, health care, and special education programs. There's a lot of weird eugenicist style thinking in that group too.

I think their dream is that if you come down with cancer, they can say "well that's because you used a 5G phone or took a flu vaccine, you don't deserve health care". Kids with special needs can be denied now because the parents gave them soda or whatever reason they make up for these things. The goal is to shift blame on to people and turn those with illnesses and disabilities into pariahs.

Mostly interested in the article though because the couch in the picture is the EXACT couch we had 20 years ago that got too beat up, and we've been wanting to replace it ever since. I told my wife to email her and say "hey i want to have lots more babies, but first where did you get that couch"

It's a really unique occurrence. Typically when stocks go down a lot, the dollar strengthens as people look to it for safety. This causes yields to drop. But the opposite is happening. I can't remember a time when stocks, bond yields, and the dollar are all down at the same time.

So now you have a tax on imports which makes them more expensive, a weaker dollar to buy those imports, and higher borrowing rates. Not to mention retaliatory tariffs that target the country's best industries. That's a perfect storm for a really bad economic downturn (especially if he fires Powell).

Now he could cave on the tariffs tomorrow and everything will be back to normal for the most part (I do think the loss of government jobs will show up shortly and cause issues). But not sure his ego will allow it despite him seeing what a disaster his policy has been so far.

He can just make up something when backtracking and getting rid of tariffs and his supporters will champion everything as a big success.

Not to mention the craziness happening. Even if "implode" is a strong word, it seems safe to think we could get out if we need to and just have cash available.
