Go Grossman..Go Grossman...Go

Bears rookie QB played well today. Some really smart moves and throws he made. Good job to Rex Grossman.

Kind of surprising to me. He had a Ryan Leaf-ish type repuation at Florida. I was counting on him being a bust, actually.

Dont be rediculous. He played the worst defense in the league today. The defenses he played in college were better than the vikings.

It's the same old story. Minnesota makes terrible teams look great.

Ahh, he's still a rookie QB. Worst defense or not.....he's still a rookie QB. Not to mention before today, the Vikes had the best offense in the league.....today was different.

Ryan leaf-ish... I never heard of that. However, for a rookie with dumbass John Shoop calling the plays....he did a good job.

Tell the Bears to get rid of Dez 'Drop' White, and I see some talent here.

Ya no kidding. Grossmans stats would have looked much better if Dez would have caught those 2 long balls.

Last I checked, team defenses were measure by their overall production, not just on half their schedule.

Sure, but when there is such a huge disparity between your defense's performance at home vs. on the road, then you use a different measuring stick. The Viking defense has been the worse road defense in the league this year. Go look it up.

Here, i'll be so bold to say that the Cardinals will score more points against the Vikings in week 17 than the Cards score against anyone this year. Cardinal team offensive records will be broken that day. It's going to happen. You watch.

Haha, i hope your right!

And thank you Bears, great INT by the rookie stealing it from Moss at the end. I jumped up and started running around yelling "Vikings lose! Vikings lose!" Felt good. Of course i spent most the game mumbling how the Bears suck and would blow it for me.....they still suck! But thanks anyways Bears!

Then call the Vikings the worst road defense, and not the worst defense.

You said they were the worst defense. I don't actually know, but I am guessing the Falcons are contenders for that as well.

Point is, you were less than accurate with your statement, you were called on it, and then you added your qualification to make you look right.

This guy seriously blows, hes definately gone next season.

Just hope we get an OC that can work with Grossman

I hear that man. Shoop HAS GOT TO GO!!!!

Jauron too? I have to say yes because he allows Shoop to call the plays. Jauron should have stepped in.

I think Grossman looked pretty good for his 1st start. He made smart plays, didn't force anything, and looks like he is the most accurate QB the bears have had...ever...I think.

An NFL defense is an NFL defense when you make your 1st start. The QB's going to be in over his head regardless. When judging a QB's first start you can't look at the numbers, you have to look at the reads he made, how accurate he passes were, and how he handled pressure. Those things considered, Grossman did well today. He's a smart QB with great mechanics and, hopefully, a bright future in Chicago.

I'd like to see Jauron stick around another year with another OC. He seems to handle the players pretty well, and overall, when healthy, the Bears look prepared to play most weeks. I think he's been handcuffed with Jauron since Crowton left, not that he was anything special, but at least they had a chance offensively then.

lol, yeah, I know I was going overboard. But still, he was being a bit of a doof about it, too, you know.

As for you being the one to tell me to take the stick out of my ass, that's funny, considering you are the biggest asshole on this board, what with Horns and skippy and what not long since booted.

What possible point is there in you responding? You know I'm not going to listen to you, and your post, given that just about everyone here would like you to shut the hell up just about every time you open your useless mind, just provides us with endless amounts of humor.

You should probably stick with arguments in which you don't make yourself look like a dumbass...oh wait...

Make me look right......heheh. You don't get it. Ok tough guy, allow me to rescind my statement, if it will make you feel better..........

The Vikings have the 6th worst defense in the league. Is that better? If they had Atlanta's schedule, i would speculate that they would have the WORST defense in the league.

I'll tell you what the point is. Before you side tracked the main topic of this post, it was about how Grossman played very well in his first start today. But against the Vikings pathetic 27th ranked defense, so have Rick Mirer, Doug Johnson, Kerry Collins and Doug Flutie. Hell, you could have wheeled McMahon out there today and he would have done the same thing, or better.

So to recap, Grossman played the 6th worst defense, statistically, in the league today.

I actually like Thomas, but he needs holes to run through, he doesn't have the ability to make something when there is no hole. However, when there is a hole he's very good at hitting it hard, he has good burst through the line, but only has average speed. I think the thing that killed him last year was the injuries on the line and he seemed to be trying to prove to everyone that he could be a gamebreaker, every time he touched the ball he was trying to put it in the endzone. Behind a decent line he could easily put up 1,100-1,200 yard seasons. He's not one of the best, but he's a solid back until the Bears get the stud back they've been missing since Neal Anderson retired.

Peterson, IMO isn't that talented, average speed and burst. Should be a backup in the NFL and no more.

Forsey has the best instincts of the group, but he's slow as dirt (4.8 speed I read), but I like him more than Peterson. I don't think he'll ever have the ability to put up consistent games though, becaus of the lack of speed.. In the end, he's just another backup.

Thanks for correcting yourself. You are a bigger man than plenty of others here.

As for your point about Grossman, I could a rat's... I didn't offer an opinion on Grossman and didn't get to see the game in order to do so.

I'm one of the few Chicagoans who is going to be dissapointed if Jauron is let go this offseason. Our offensive line was decimated at the beginning of the year, I don't think there's a coach out there who would have won a game with the guys we were putting on the field. Finally when we got a few of our offensive linemen healthy, we go on a winning streak. I've always liked Jauron for some reason, he's a great guy and I think his football knowledge is a bit underrated.

I'll be first in line in kicking Shoop's ass out of Chicago though. If Jauron says that he will not fire Shoop (which has been the rumor) then Dick is buying his own ticket out of town.

This was the one game I did not watch yesterday, but the stats look less than impressive. 13/30 for 157 yards. I understand the low ypa has a lot to do with Shoop not being aware the field is 100 yards long, but 13/30 does not speak that highly of accuracy, especially if they were consistently throwing short.

He threw high on a few slant routes. He has to get those down or he'll be throwing INTs by the bushel.

That is very true. The other factor as mentioned above i believe is his WR's didn't catch A LOT of passes they should have. Even my wife started saying how bad they suck!

It was nice watching Moss look really bad on two plays in the game. The missed TD at the end, and the play going over the middle where he blatantly pulled up to avoid getting hit. Lots of talent, not too much in the way of guts or competitive spirit.

Two plays does not a season make. He had no problem throwing himself into the wall to make a td catch...

Yes he made some mistakes but look at the numbers and look at what he does for that offense. There's no denying the talent...

If you noticed in my first post, I said he had lots of talent, but no spirit.

I have to believe that Wayne Chrebet would have gone and gotten that pass over the middle. Lots of spirit, limited talent.

I would trade a team full of Mosses for a team full of Chrebets, because they would actually work as a team, and when it came down to a gut-check, the Chrebets would win.

That's such an idealistic point of view. Plug Chrebet into that offense and he catches 40 balls.

On sheer talent a team full of Mosses would destroy the Chrebets. It would never come down to gut check time...

The argument is stupid though...

Randy Moss' D line would kick the shit out of Chrebet's O line, and QB Chrebet would never get off a pass to WR/TE Chrebet without CB Moss picking it off and celebrating with the Mossusses in Chrebet's end zone.

So for that reason, yes, the argument is stupid.

Oh I dunno. I think the Chrebeticas O Line would anhiliate the D-Line of Mossusses. QB Chrebet would have all day in the world to throw a pass, but the DB Mossusses would be ballhawking all day. Interception city for QB Chrebet.

On the same token though, a Chrebeticas defensive line would crush the Mossueses O-Line. I see a lot of scraming in QB Moss's future.
