Cleveland Rockers would have been better. Spiders would have been great.

Do not like Guardians.

They have become the U.S. Space Force's official team now.

100%, Spiders seemed like a no brainer and was by far the best choice IMO. I actually thought Guardians would have been a good choice for the WFT, but in typical Dan Snyder fashion, he has let that ship sail now. (But now he will probably go with Spiders)

From what I gather on Reddit, most Clevelander are happy with the name (well the ones who didn't get offended by a name change). It has a lot of local significance and was always one of the top two picks folks in Cleveland were discussing.

The name is fine but I really hate when teams use a ball in their logo. It's stuff you use in sports that no one knows about.

I also wish they had leaned into the Art Deco side more since those Guardian statues are beautiful.

Gotta think in the rapist context, Its not sexual satisfaction it is power satisfaction.

Joey Votto has eight hits in his last six games. All of them HRs.

It's amazing that he reinvented his swing mid-season last year and almost immediately became a dangerous hitter again.

That's got to put them back as favorites with adding a Cy winner and turner. I'd be happy to never see Bauer on the mound for them again.

Dodgers have a superteam.

Hard to blame the Nats for making this trade. It seems as if they brought in quite the haul getting Gray and Ruiz.

IMO, the Dodgers would have been playoff favorites anyway at around 50/50. Making this trade makes them maybe 60/40 to win it. Did they really need to give up 2 stud prospects to increase their odds around 10 percent? Baseball playoffs are still so variable. One bad stretch and you are done.

Gray is solid, though I suspect not elite. Ruiz is good, might be better than Smith, but they have a better catcher in the minors in Cartenya, so it's really not much of a package. Seager is probably not happy right now.

The difference between winning the NL West and being a wildcard is enormous. I think it's definitely the right move for them, and I hate it.

That being said, I think I'm pretty ok with the Giants not selling the farm to try to compete. They're not even at the start of their playoff window with this squad, and already they can compete.

The only downside to not making a move is that you have to figure out what you're going to do about Joey Bart and Buster Posey. Bart doesn't have much more to prove down in AAA (.307/.368/.540 in AAA this year with 10 HR in 117 ABs), and promoting him while Posey is still here only gets him 1 start every 3 days, which seems...not ideal for a still growing prospect.

I'm not really sure how they are doing it but the Giants are nicely put together. They seem to have the right mix this year. I keep expecting them to fall off a bit but they continue to make a believer out of me. I'd like to see them get some bullpen help(in my uneducated opinion it seems like their biggest weakness).

I am pretty disappointed the Twins seem like the are trading Berrios. He has basically been their only consistent pitcher over the years. I get trading Cruz and Id get trading Donaldson but trading their only good younger pitcher seems like a move that poorly run franchises do.

It is frustrating, but the Pohlads are going to be the Pohlads. Does Austin Martin make you feel any better about it?

They did pretty well there. Austin Martin has a fairly high floor and SWR has a chance to be a solid mid rotation guy if he command comes along. It sounds like his velocity is back up a tick after being down in the low 90s after being drafted.

Rosario - Pederson - Dunn

The Braves new outfield.

I wonder what odds Vegas would give on them all staying healthy (once Rosario returns in a couple weeks) until season's end.

The Mets are getting Baez and Trevor Williams for Pete Crow Armstrong. I like PCA but his shoulder injury is kind of scary and while he's probably a lock to at least be a defensive 4th outfielder but his ceiling is somewhat limited.

Baez is a great fit for what the Mets need though. He can play 2nd, 3rd, or fill in at short for Lindor and play all 3 spots at a high level.

Bummed the Nats sold. I was hoping they would be part of the push to win my roto league.

Crazy day. This seemed like a busy trade deadline.

I so rarely get to say anything nice about a pro organization but this warrants at least a small nod I think.

Happened to see where the Braves signed undrafted rookie free agent pitcher earlier in the week. Small college guy, pitched five years there, not in the top 500 draftable prospects.

Why the nod? His name is J.J. Niekro. Son of Joe, nephew of Phil.
Would be a longshot to ever see him in the big leagues but at least he'll be able to say that, however briefly, he was a professional ball player.

Good on the Braves for that.

Took a few articles for me to uncover that he's actually a hard thrower. Went from 92 mph before surgical repairs to a torn UCL to 96 mph in about 14 months. (though 2-0 with 4.40 ERA in 14.1 innings pitched at DII this year)

But, hey, he's got a signed contract that a lot of people would give a whole arm to have so good for him.

It wasnt a bad trade by any means. Austin Martin seems like a nice prize. Mostly just frustrated because it seemed they had built a winning team and now having a poor season and trading players again.

St Louis loading up on past their prime left handed starting pitchers. I mean at this point I think most AAA pitchers are better than Happ or Lester.

Such a stupid unnecessary play. I get hustling and taking chances but he needs to be smarter. He’s like the star WR who will take a monster hit to gain an extra yard instead of stepping out of bounds.
